Total Physical Response (TPR) is an effective method in teaching listening. However, English teacher at SDN 69 Banda Aceh stated that TPR is not effective in teaching listening at fifth grade students. Therefore, the writer wants to find out how is the implementation of TPR that teacher used in teaching listening and also to find out what is the obstacle faced by teacher and students in teaching and learning listening by using total physical response. This study focused on the implementation of TPR in teaching listening and the obstacles faced by teacher and students in listening skill in giving instruction/command in classroom context. The method of this study is descriptive qualitative method. Result of this study found that teacher did not do all of the procedures of TPR. Teacher just did the first and second procedures but the third and the fourth procedures, teacher did not. It is also found that the obstacles faced by teacher are the students did not want to come in front of the classroom, the class size is too narrow, and the number of the students is too many. The obstacles faced by students are the students felt nervous and shy when the teacher asked them to come in front of class and felt worried about the teacher correction.
