The proposed reading lesson is designed for secondsemester students in an English Education program. It aims to develop three essential levels of reading comprehension: literal, inferential, and interpretative. At the literal level, students are expected to identify key details, characters, and events in the legend of Tjoet Nya’ Dhien. The chapter offers a practical teaching design built on cultural. relevance, schema activation, and learner motivation, aiming to foster a more meaningful and locally grounded approach to EFL reading instruction.
