Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) is the most common acyanotic congenital heart disease. Nutritional status in children with VSD is significantly influenced by the size of the defect, the degree of the shunt and the pressure in pulmonal vessels. The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between the size of the defect and the nutritional status of children with isolated VSD by using cross-sectional study design. This study was conducted in cardiology outpatient unit, children inpatient ward of Zainoel Abidin Hospital Banda Aceh and a pediatric cardiologist clinic. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with convenience sampling method. As many as 33 patients were observed and analysed by using chi-square statistical test with confidence intervals 95% and ? 0,05. The result showed that the p value is 0,710. This study conclude that there is no correlation between the size of defect and the nutritional status in children with isolated VSD.
