Title
Comparison of Most Probable Number Methode and MembraneFilter Methode In The Content of Escherichia coli In RefillDrinking Water.
Description
Most probable number and membrane filter were methods that can be used foranalyzing of Escherichia coli contained in refill drinking water. Based onPermenkes 492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010 about the Regulations of Drinking WaterQuality, the content of Escherichia coli in a 100 ml sample is zero. The researchaimed to know the differences in the content of Escherichia coli in refill drinkingwater which were analized by Most probable number method and Membranefilter method. The research used observation method with descriptive analyticdesign which is carried out on 28 samples of drinking water refill depot in citycenter and downtown area. The data were analyzed by t-test and Anova usingSPSS version 16. The results showed that there is a significant difference betweenthe membrane filter method and most probable number method. Anova testshowed no significant difference between the downtown area and the city centereither to the monitored or unmonitored region. The average of Escherichia colicontent observed using membrane filter method was 4,46 CFU/100 ml samplewhile the content with most probable number method was 2,64 MPN Escherichiacoli/100 ml sample. Therefore the membrane filter method was more sensitivethan most probable number method in analizing the content of Escherichia coli inrefill drinking water.Keyword : Most Probable Number Method, Membrane Filter Method,Escherichia coli, Refill Drinking Water
