Pendekatan inkuiri terbimbing adalah suatu pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri yang digunakan dalam pendidikan sains. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah adakah pengaruh pendekatan inkuiri terbimbing terhadap hasil belajar IPA di SMPN 2 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan inkuiri terbimbing terhadap hasil belajar IPA di SMPN 2 Banda Aceh. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Banda Aceh. Adapun sampel yang diambil 2 kelas, yaitu kelas VIII3 sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas VIII2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Penentuan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Analisis yang digunakan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar siswa antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol digunakan analisis uji t-test. Sebelum dilaksanakan analisis data terlebih dahulu diuji prasyarat analisis yang meliputi uji normalitas, dan uji homogenitas. Instrument penelitian ini adalah instrument tes pilihan ganda sebanyak 20 soal dengan 4 pilihan jawaban. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes yaitu pretest dan posttest. Setelah data terkumpul selanjutnya data diolah dan hasil pengolahan data tersebut menunjukkan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol memiliki sebaran nilai tes siswa berdistribusi normal, dan memiliki varians yang heterogen. Jadi penelitian dapat dilanjutkan. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan dan analisis penelitian diperoleh nilai thitung > ttabel yaitu 5,68 >1,67, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan inkuiri terbimbing berpengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar IPA di SMPN 2 Banda Aceh. Pengaruh tersebut terlihat dari meningkatnya nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen daripada niali rata-rata kelas kontrol. Nilai rata-rata untuk kelas eksperimen 86,16, sedangkan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol 74,65. This study uses experimental method to design treatment by level 2 x 2. The population of the study is all students of secondary schools in Tanjung Priok subdistrict, Jakarta during study years of 2012-2013. The sample of the study is all students of SMPN 140 Jakarta. Sampling was selected using Multi Stage Random Sampling in order to obtain a sample of 40 students. Research hypotheses were tested using the analysis of variance (ANOVA). The study found that; (1) reasoning ability in the group of students who were given the approach of Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) is higher than the reasoning ability groups of students were given the conventional approach in the subject of natural sciences, (2) there is an interaction effect between learning approach and belief in the ability of reasoning, (3) the ability of reasoning group of students who were given a higher VAK approach of a group of students who were given conventional approach to groups of students who have a high belief, and (4) the ability of reasoning groups of students were given lower VAK approach of a group of students who given the conventional approach to groups of students who have a low belief. The finding of this study would be beneficial for science teachers and for teachers of other subjects in general to implement VAK approach in enhancing and improving the reasoning ability of student in the subject of natural science.
