Bahan yang digunakan adalah benih jagung (varietas Pertiwi dan varietas lokal Aceh), pupuk cair hayati Ultra gen, gula dan pestisida. Penelitian ini menggunakan RAK pola faktorial 4 x 2 dengan 3 ulangan, sehingga terdapat 8 kombinasi perlakuan dan 24 satuan unit percobaan. Setiap unit percobaan terdiri dari 9 sampel. Peubah yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun umur 15, 30 dan 45 HST, panjang tongkol kelobot dan tanpa kelobot, diameter tongkol kelobot dan tanpa kelobot, bobot tongkol kelobot dan tanpa kelobot, bobot 100 butir biji kering, Bobot biji pipilan kering per tanaman dan potensi hasil per hektar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk cair hayati tidak berpengaruh nyata pada semua peubah yang diamati kecuali pada varietas lokal Aceh berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun umur 45 HST. Selanjutnya pemberian pupuk cair hayati pada varietas lokal Aceh berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada umur 15, 30, dan 45 HST, jumlah daun pada umur 30 dan 45 HST, panjang tongkol berkelobot, diameter berkelobot, dan diameter tanpa kelobot.
