<text>            A study to determine a right concentration of organic fertilizer Super Nasa and type of organic mulches on growth and yield of soybeans has been conducted. The experiment used a factorial randomized complete block design 4 x 3 with 3 replications. Factors studied were concentrations of organic fertilizer Super Nasa, consisting of 4 levels: 0, 5, 10, 15 g/L of water and types of organic mulches, consisting of three levels: printing newspaper, bagasse, and paddy stalk. Results showed that the concentrations of organic fertilizer Super Nasa exerted highly significant effects on dried grain weight per plot netto and dried seed weight per hectare and exerted a significant effect on plant height 45 day after planting, but exerted no significant effect on other variables. The best growth and yield of soybean were found at a concentration of organic fertilizers Super Nasa 10 g/L of water. Types of organic mulches did not affect all variables observed. However, Soybean yield was apparently better at printing newspaper. There was no significant interaction between concentration of organic fertilizer Super Nasa and types of organic mulches on all growth and yield variables observed. </text>

The research was conducted at the Seed Garden of Agriculture Faculty, Unsyiah, using a factorial randomized complete block design. Factor studied were combinations of fertilizer doses of N, P and K (Urea, TSP and KCl), consisting of three levels: P1 = 400 + 250 + 200 kg/ha, P2 = 450 + 300 + 250 kg/ha, and P3 = 500 + 350 + 300 kg/ha, and fertilization manners, consisting of two levels: circle and sideband. The results showed that the combination of doses of fertilizer N, P and K exerted a highly significant effect on ear weight, cob weight and cob weight/ha and exerted a significant effect on plant height of 30 and 45 days after planting and  cob length, but did not affect cob diameter.  The best growth and yield was obtained in a combination of N, P and K 500 + 350 + 300 kg/ha. Fertilizer placement did not significantly affect plant growth and yield of sweet corn. There was no significant interaction between fertilizer dose combinations of N, P and K and fertilizer placement on growth and yield of sweet corn.</text>

<text>A research was conducted at Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University in February – Mei 2011. The objectives of the research were to determine effect of kind of fertilizer on growth  and yield of  several  sweet corn varieties and also to know interaction between both factors mentioned.  The experiment was performed using a randomized complete block design (RCBD),  3 x 3 with 3 replications. There were two factors studied, namely kinds of fertilizer, consisting of 3 levels: organic fertilizer, NPK and liquid organic fertilizer NASA. The second factor was varieties consisting of 3 levels: Bonanza, Manise, and Jago F1.  The results showed that kinds of fertilizer exerted highly significant effects on diameter of bottom stem at age 45 day after planting (DAP), number of leaves at 45 DAP, leaf length at age 30 and 45 DAP and exerted a significant effect on ear length without cornhusk. The highest growth and yield of sweet corn was found in NPK fertilizer treatment.  Varieties of sweet corn exerted highly significant effects on plant height age 15 DAP, diameter  of bottom stem  at age 30 and 45 DAP, number of leaf at age 15 DAP, leaf width at age 15, 30, and 45 DAP and exerted significant effects on ear length without  cornhusk, ear diameter  without  cornhusk, ear weight per bed with border plant, ear weight per bed without border plant,  ear weight with cornhusk and plant height at age 30 and 40 DAP, diameter of bottom stem at age 15 DAP, number of leaf at age 45 DAP, leaf length at age 15 and 45 DAP. The highest of growth and yield was found at Variety Bonanza.  Additionally, there was no interaction between kinsd of fertilizer and several varieties of sweet corn on growth and yield of all variables observed. </text>

<text>The study was aimed at determining effect of mulch type and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic on growth and yield of onion.  The experiment used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) 3x3 with 3 replications. There were 2 factors investigated, 1) type of mulch consisting of 3 levels: straw, burned husk, and water hyacinth and 2) concentration of organic liquid fertilizer Super Bionic consisting of 3 levels: 2 cc/L of water, 4 cc/L of water and 6 cc/L of water. The results showed that the type of mulch significantly affected the number of tubers per hill, but did not exert significant effects on plant height and number of tillers at ages 15, 30 and 45 days after planting (DAP), wet weight of tuber per hill and dry weight of tubers per hill and potential yield.  Growth and yield of onion tended to be better at water hyacinth mulch. Concentration of  liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic significantly affected the number of tillers at age 15, 30 and 45 DAP and dry weight of tuber per hill, but did not exert significant effects on plant height at age 15, 30 and 45 DAP, the number of tubers per hill, wet weight of tuber per hill and potential yield. Better growth and yield were obtained at concentrations 2 cc/L of water. There was no significant interaction between type of mulch and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer Super Bionic.</text>

<text>Ethanol as one of renewable energy was being considered an excellent alternative clean-burning fuel to replace gasoline. Continuous ethanol fermentation systems had offered important economic advantages compared to traditional systems. Fermentation rates were significantly improved, especially when continuous fermentation was integrated with cell immobilization techniques to enrich the cells concentration in fermentor. Growing cells of Zymomonas mobilis immobilized in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) gel beads were employed in an immobilized-cells fermentor for continuous ethanol fermentation from glucose. The glucose loading, dilution rate, and cells loading were varied in order to determine which best condition employed in obtaining both high ethanol production and low residual glucose with high dilution rate. In this study, 20 g/L, 100 g/L, 125 g/L and 150 g/L of glucose concentration and 20% (w/v), 40% (w/v) and 50% (w/v) of cells loading were employed with range of dilution rate at 0.25 to 1 h-1. The most stable production was obtained for 25 days by employing 100 g/L of glucose loading. Meanwhile, the results also exhibited that 125 g/L of glucose loading as well as 40% (w/v) of cells loading yielded high ethanol concentration, high ethanol productivity, and acceptable residual glucose at 62.97 g/L, 15.74 g/L/h and 0.16 g/L, respectively. Furthermore, the dilution rate of 4 hour with 100 g/L and 40% (w/v) of glucose and cells loading was considered as the optimum condition with ethanol production, ethanol productivity and residual glucose obtained were 49.89 g/L, 12.47 g/L/h, and 2.04 g/L, respectively. This recent study investigated ethanol inhibition as well. The present research had proved that high sugar concentration was successfully converted to ethanol. These achieved results were promising for further study.</text>

<text>The purpose of this research was to evaluate the influence of some types of soil ameliorans (lime, sea mud and some types of soil microorganisms) on P nutrient and soybean root development in peat soil.  The experiment was carried out in the Greenhouse of Agriculture Faculty of USU, Soil Biology Laboratory, Central Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty of USU and Laboratory of Soil analysis at RISPA, from March to November 2011.  The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design, consisted of 13 treatments and two replicates. The treatments included control, dolomite lime, sea mud, lime + sea mud, Bradyrhizobium, mos, Mycorrhizal isolate of peat soil, mycorrhizal isolate of mineral soil, Bradyrhizobium + mos, mos + mycorrhizal isolate of peat soil isolates, mos + mineral soil mycorrhizal isolate, Bradyrhizobium + mos + mycorrhizal isolate of peat soil, Bradyrhizobium + mos + mycorrhizal isolate of mineral soil. Variables observed included soil pH, soil P available, plant P uptake, and weight of root dry. Types of amelioran exerted significant effect on soil pH, but did not exert significant effects on soil P available,  plant P uptake, and weight of dry root. </text>

This research was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design with thirteen treatments and two replicates.  Provision of some amelioran exerted significant effects on numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 week after planting (WAP). The best amelioran was calcify dolomite on which had positive responses to the increase of numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 WAP. The second best was combination of Bradyrhizobium +Mos+ peat soil isolate mycorrhiza, which significantly increased numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 WAP. The poor and the poorest ameliorants were sea mud+calcify dolomite and sea mud without dolomite, respectively, which caused reduction of numbers of root nodules, degree of mycorrhiza infection, and plant height of 5 WAP.</text>

<text>Effect of Water Stress at Two Types of Soil on Growth and Yield of Soybean  (Glycine max (L.) MERRIL) Nurhayati Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT  This study was aimed at determining effect of water stress maintained at 100, 80, 60, and 40% of field capacity in ordo Entisol and Ultisol on growth and yield of soybean. Experimental design used was a completely randomized design, 4 x 2 with three replicates. Results showed that water stress significantly affected all components of growth and yield of soybean, as well as amount of cumulative water need of soybean at plant ages of 8 - 95 days. Soil type also significantly affected all components of growth and yield of soybean, as well as amount of cumulative water need of soybean, except root length.  The best growth and yield of soybean was found at ordo Entisol. There was a highly significant interaction of all components of soybean growths and yields, except plant height at the age of 15 and 30 days after planting.  Soybean was still capable of producing high yield at the range of water stress 60% - 80% of field capacity in ordo Entisol, whereas in ordo Ultisol at the same circumstance, the soybean was not capable of maintaining the yield. </text>
