Hal ini mengindikasikan belum kuatnya keputusan yang diambil oleh wisatawan untuk memilih Sabang sebagai destinasi wisata yang akan dikunjunginya. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: Apakah Bauran Promosi berpengaruh terhadap Preferensi Pelanggan, apakah Preferensi Pelanggan berpengaruh terhadap Keputusan Berkunjung, dan Apakah Bauran Promosi berpengaruh terhadap Keputusan Berkunjung melalui Preferensi Pelanggan. Tahun 2013 Jumlah kunjungan wisatawan ke Kota Sabang adalah 20.000 orang. Dari jumlah ini 7.000 orang diantaranya adalah wisatawan asing. Besarnya jumlah sampel yang digunakan adalah sebanyak 120 responden. Pengaruh langsung antara variabel variabel independent yang ada pada penelitian ini yaitu Bauran Promosi (X) terhadap variabel dependent yaitu Keputusan Berkunjung (Z), lebih kecil dibandingkan pengaruh nya bila melalui variabel intervening Preferensi Wisatawan (Y). Pengaruh langsung antara X dan Z adalah 0,142. Sedangkan pengaruh tidak langsung lebih besar yaitu 0,861. Dari informasi ini maka kita dapat menyarankan kepada para pengambil keputusan yang terkait dengan pengembangan pariwisata di Pulau Weh, baik di institusi lokal maupun nasional, adalah menjalankan Bauran Promosi, agar preferensi calon wisatawan yang akan berkunjung ke Sabang meningkat. Hanya dengan meningkatnya preferensi wisatawan, peningkatan minat wisatawan untuk datang ke Sabang juga akan meningkat. Salah satu peristiwa gempa di Aceh adalah gempa di Kabupaten Bener Meriah yang terjadi pada 2 Juli 2013. Salah satu dampak dari peristiwa gempa bumi yang jelas terlihat secara fisik adalah kerusakan bangunan. Kerusakan ini bisa terjadi dengan tingkat kerusakan ringan, sedang, hingga berat, dan terjadi pada komponen struktur, ataupun nonstruktur. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi komponen rusak, pola kerusakan dan nilai kerugian pada bangunan rumah tinggal permanen berlantai satu dengan tingkat kerusakan sedang. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa data sekunder yang diperoleh dari survei BPBD (Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah) Kabupaten Bener Meriah. Data ini terdiri dari keterangan lokasi, jumlah rumah yang rusak, dan pengelompokan tingkat kerusakan. Data volume kerusakan dan nilai kerugian diperoleh dari laporan investigasi kerusakan bangunan rumah, yang dikeluarkan oleh Jurusan Teknik Sipil Unsyiah, bekerja sama dengan Pemerintah Daerah Kabupaten Bener Meriah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan 11,13% dari total 3610 rumah mengalami kerusakan sedang. Kerusakan sedang paling banyak terjadi di kecamatan Wih Pesam (194 unit rumah) dan paling sedikit di kecamatan Bandar (4 unit rumah). Komponen bangunan rumah yang dominan mengalami kerusakan adalah pada komponen nonstruktur, (dinding dan plesteran) dengan pola kerusakan retak, pecah dan roboh sebagian. Nilai kerugian yang ditimbulkan akibat kerusakan sedang ini adalah sebesar Rp 5,109,421,561 dengan rata-rata Rp 12,710,004 untuk setiap rumah. Diharapkan penelitian sejenis oleh peneliti lain agar mengumpulkan data baik gambar ataupun ukuran secara langsung dari lapangan untuk mendapatkan data yang jelas,akurat dan lebih terinci dengan baik.
