Hasil pemeriksaan kadar fluor yangdilakukan di UPTD Laboratorium Kesehatan Banda Aceh terhadap air minum yangdikonsumsi oleh anak usia 12-15 tahun yaitu air gunung dengan kadar fluor 0,03mg/l dan air sumur dengan kadar fluor 0,09 mg/l mengandung fluor yang sama-samarendah, sedangkan konsentrasi optimum fluor yang dianjurkan dalam air minumadalah 0,7-1,2 ppm. Kekurangan fluor dalam air minum dapat menyebabkan gigimudah terkena karies. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaranstatus karies pada anak usia 12-15 tahun yang mengkonsumsi air sumur dan atau airgunung di Kecamatan Lhoong Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Desain penelitian ini adalahdeskriptif dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling, seluruh subjek diambilmenjadi sampel penelitian yang berjumlah 70 murid. Pengumpulan data dilakukandari tanggal 13 dan 16 September dengan melakukan pemeriksaan klinis pada subjekpenelitian. Status karies diperiksa dengan menggunakan indeks DMF-T.
