Laju aliran saliva merupakan faktor yang berperan penting dalam menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Karies gigi adalah salah satu penyakit kronis yang paling sering terjadi di masyarakat. Penurunan laju aliran saliva dapat menyebabkan peningkatan dan resiko terjadinya karies gigi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan laju aliran saliva dengan indeks karies gigi pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Syiah Kuala Angkatan 2011-2013. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross sectional dengan jumlah subjek sebanyak 96 orang. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengumpulan saliva dan pemeriksaan indeks DMF-T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju aliran saliva rata-rata pada mahasiswa angkatan 2011-2013 adalah tinggi, sedangkan indeks DMF-T secara keseluruhan pada mahasiswa angkatan 2011-2013 adalah sangat rendah dengan indeks DMF-T 0,7.
