Pasar swalayan yang ada di daerah Kota Banda Aceh saat ini cukup banyak sehingga terjadi persaingan penjualan barang atau produk antar pemilik swalayan. Berbagai cara dilakukan untuk mengatur strategi penjualan salah satunya ketersediaan stok barang dan penempatan barang yang efisien berdasarakan kebiasaan konsumen membeli barang/produk tertentu, untuk mengetahui hal ini harus menganalisa pola pembelian barang pembelian barang menggunakan aturan asosiasi. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan data transaksi penjualan pada tahun 2013 di swalayan Pante Pirak Banda Aceh yang dianalisa pada awal, pertengahan, akhir, 6 bulan terakhir, 9 bulan terakhir dan satu tahun penuh pada tahun 2013. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah mengumpulkan data, membersihkan data, mentransformasikan data, mencari keterkaitan item barang menggunankan algoritma Apriori dan FP-Growth dan menganalisa hasil asosiasi yang dihasilkan. Hasil yang diperoleh pada penelitian adalah algoritma FP-Growth lebih efisien dari pada algoritma Apriori dilihat dari segi waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk mencari antar keterkaitan barang yang dihasilkan algoritma FP-Growth lebih cepat dibandingkan algoritma Apriori. Penentuan minimum support sangat berpengaruh terhadap hasil aturan asosiasi dan waktu. Jika aturan asosiasi mendekati maksimum support pada data yang diteliti maka aturan asosiasi yang dihasilkan semakin sedikit. Hasil aturan/rules dihasilkan sesuai dengan penempatan barang di Pante Pirak Swalayan Banda Aceh agar dapat meningkatkan penjualan.
