Khitin diisolasi dari limbah kulit udang yang merupakan polimer alam yang mempunyai struktur mirip dengan selulosa. Khitosan ini bersifat hidrofilik  dan merupakan material biodegradable. Dengan pesatnya teknologi pemisahan, maka khitosan telah digunakan sebagai bahan pembuat membran. Membran khitosan bersifat hidrofilik yang memiliki kemampuan yang tinggi dalam melewatkan permeat berupa air. Pada penelitian ini khitosan diisolasi dari khitin pada temperatur  120oC dan waktu deasetilasi 120 menit. Kandungan air yang diperoleh adalah 7% dan kandungan abu adalah 1,28%. Membran komposit khitosan dan selulosa dibuat dengan metode inversi fasa dan teknik  polimerisasi antar muka. Hasil peneletian dilakukan karakterisasi membran dengan permeasi pelarut. Fluks besar diperoleh pada membran dengan konsentrasi khitosan terkecil yaitu 0,25%. Koefisien permeabilitas (Lp) terbesar diperoleh pada membran dengan konsentrasi khitosan 0,25%, yaitu sebesar 1,522 l/m2jam bar. Process in making minyak kemenyan is still traditional using main raw material pliek u oil, benzoe, and pleasant smell herbal which resulted in specific scent of minyak kemenyan. The oil is believed by Acehnese can cure some diseases and often use as a medicinal oil.The aim of this research is to study effects of using variety of vegetable oils (pliek u oil, hot extracted copra oil, and palm oil), and scented herbal concentration on the quality of minyak kemenyan. A randomized block design arranged factorially with three replicates was used. Product analysis were acid value, peroxide value, ester value, and sensory evaluation on smell and color of minyak kemenyan.Traditional purifying process of pliek u oil, and copra oil decreased the acid, peroxide, and iodine values of the oils. Whereas scented herbal concentration caused no significant effect on any quality values of minyak kemenyan. Processing the vegetable oils into minyak kemenyan caused slightly increased in the acid and iodine values, but significantly decreased the peroxide value of that made from pliek u oil. The common matrix used to produce composite is plastic ore with types of poly propylene, poly ethylene and others. To know the characteristics of composite boards made from recycled plastic type poly ethylene so this research was conducted. This research aims to create a composite board made of solid waste sawdust and straw as a filler and recycled plastics as the matrix and to find out more details of the influence of variable solid waste types and ratio of solid waste weight and plastic toward the quality of the composite board product. Composite board manufacturing process was carried out by hot press method at a temperature of 145 oC for 20 minutes. The composite board products are tested on value of hardness, tensile strength, and thermal value. The results showed that the use of sawdust as a filler resulted the composite hardness value that is better (R79,5) compared with straw (R67) at a ratio of filler composition: matrix of 80:20 respectively. The use of sawdust also gives the value of tensile strength of 6.86 MPa that is better than the using a straw that valued of 3.62 MPa at composition ratio of filler: to matrix (60:40). Largest amount of heat needed to melt the composite boards are 31.19 J/g and 14.02 J/g at composition ratio sawdust: recycled plastics of 80:20 and at composition ratio straw: recycled plastics of 80:20, respectively.
