Banyak orang yang berpendapat bahwa untuk meraih prestasi yang tinggi dalam belajar, seseorang harus memiliki Intelligence Quotient (IQ) yang tinggi, namun pada kenyataannya kecerdasan emosional atau Emotional Quotient (EQ) juga berperan penting untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar. Menurut studi psikologis terbaru kecerdasan intelektual (IQ) hanya menyumbang 20% untuk kesuksesan dan 80% dipengaruhi oleh kecerdasan emosional (EQ). Upaya peningkatan kecerdasan emosional harus memperhatikan fisik, psikologis, lingkungan keluarga dan lingkungan sekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kecerdasan emosional remaja di SMA Negeri 8 Banda Aceh 2014. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 Mei 2014. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 477 orang. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif korelatif melalui pendekatan cross sectional study. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan accidental sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 93 orang. Alat pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner yang terdiri dari 35 item pernyataan dalam skala likert dan dilakukan dengan membagikan angket. Metode analisis data dengan menggunakan uji statistik chi-square, hasil penelitian adalah ada hubungan antara psikologis (p-value 0,012), lingkungan keluarga (p-value 0,015), lingkungan sekolah (p-value 0,014) dengan kecerdasan emosional dan tidak ada hubungan antara fisik dengan kecerdasan emosional remaja (p-value 1,000). Model analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model analisis Coob-Douglas dengan metode analisis data panel dimana data yang digunakan adalah data dari tahun 2008 sampai tahun 2012. hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dengan menggunakan pengolahan data eviews 7 menunjukan variabel investasi jalan berpengaruh positif dengan p-value = 0.0053 < 0.05, sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa investasi infrastruktur jalan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di 23 kabupaten/kota Provinsi Aceh, sedangkan investasi infrastruktur listrik dan air bersih berpengaruh dengan tingkat signifikan 10 persen terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di 23 kabupaten/kota Provinsi Aceh. Melihat peran jalan, listrik dan air bersih sebagai kebutuhan penting dalam hidup masyarakat maka pemerintah hendaknya memberikan lebih untuk investasi infrastruktur pada sektor-sektor tersebut agar pertumbuhan ekonomi meningkat.
