Control of plant pathogenic bacteria can be performed using biological control agents. The aim of this research was to study the inhibitory ability of eight isolates of biocontrol bacteria against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) under greenhouse conditions. Isolates of biological agents used in the study were obtained from IPB Culture Collection (IPBCC), Department of Biology, IPB and microbial gene bank collection of Indonesian Center for Agriculture Biotechnology and Genetic Resources (BB Biogen), consisting of Pseudomonas aeruginosa C32a and C32b, P. fluorescens ATCC 13525 Pf , Serratia marcescens E31, Bacillus sp. I.5, B. cereus I.21 and II.14, and B. firmus E65 isolates. The methods used in the research i.e. hypersensitivity test, antagonistic test of biocontrol bacteria to Xoo, and in vivo application of biological agents in the greenhouse condition. Hypersensitivity test on tobacco plants using C32a and C32b inoculums showed characteristics of slightly leaf yellowing but did not cause necrosis. Injection using Xoo inoculum showed necrosis on tobacco leaves. Antagonist isolates i.e. C32a, C32b, Pf, I.21, and I.5 showed inhibitory activity against Xoo, whereas others isolates did not show inhibitory activity. In greenhouse experiments IR 64 rice plants were sprayed with biological control agents (107cfu/ml) at 7 days, 14 days, 28 days, and 42 days after planting. The results showed that C32a isolate could suppress better the lesion length of BLB than that of chemical control (copper sulphate). Mikroorganisme sebagai indikator kualitas air adalah coli fecal dan coli non-fecal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas air sumur berdasarkan uji ada tidaknya Escherichia coli. This research belongs to quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design factorial 2x2. The research variables consist of independents variable A & B, the former is the integration strategy of PBL + Jigsaw and conventional learning strategy and the latest is low and high academic ability. While the dependent variable is understanding of concept. The research population is the new students of four study programs: Biology, Biology Education, Chemistry, and Chemistry Education in the faculty of Math and Science UNM in academic years 2011/2012. Two classes were selected as the research samples, Chemistry Education (N=36) as the experimental class, and Biology class (N=30) as a control class (using conventional strategy). On those two classes, the students with high and low academic ability are selected based on the result of grouping test. The instrument used is essay test on Fundamental Biology course. The research data were collected by giving test before and after treatment then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Anacova is used to test the hypothesis of differences. The research result shows that (1) the strategy of learning has an influence on the concept understanding of the students so that the integration strategy of PBL+Jigsaw has more potency to improve concept understanding of the students rather than conventional one, (2) There is no differences of understanding of concepts on high and low academic ability, (3) there is no influence of interaction between the learning strategy with academic ability toward concept understanding. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana peningkatan hasil belajar siswa setelah digunakan media gambar pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia di kelas VIII-2 SMPN 1 Pasie Raja Kabupaten Aceh Selatan. Populasi penelitian seluruh siswa kelas VIII yang berjumlah empat lokal. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII-2 yang berjumlah 35 orang siswa. Bentuk penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas(classroom action research). Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan non tes, alat yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah lembar observasi, dan soal tes. Data dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan menganalisa ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media gambar pada pelajaran biologi materi sistem pernapasan manusia mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa yaitu pada siklus pertama ketuntasan sebanyak 65,71% terjadi peningkatan pada siklus kedua menjadi 82,86%. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan (1) Penggunaan media gambar pada pelajaran biologi materi sistem pernapasan manusia telah mampu meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi materi sistem pernapasan manusia. Kemampuan siswa yang awalnya kurang baik dalam siklus pertama, terjadi perubahan yang positif pada siklus kedua yaitu kemampuan siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi menjadi lebih baik dalam memahami materi sistem pernapasan manusia, (2) Terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa setelah digunakan media gambar dalam mengajarkan materi sistem pernapasan manusia, yaitu ketuntasan pada siklus pertama sebanyak 65,71% dengan nilai rata-rata sebanyak 64,29. Pada siklus kedua ketuntasan asil belajar siswa sebanyak 82,86% dengan nilai rata-rata sebanyak 68,40.
