Hybrid energy systems are pollution free, takes low cost and less gestation period, user and social friendly. Such systems are important sources of energy for shops, schools, and clinics in village communities especially in remote areas. Hybrid systems can provide electricity at a comparatively economic price in many remote areas. This paper presents a method to jointly determine the sizing and operation control of hybrid energy systems. The model, PV wind hydro and biomass hybrid system connects to grid. The system configuration of the hybrid is derived based on a theoretical domestic load at a typical location and local solar radiation, wind and water flow rate data and biomass availability. The hybrid energy system is proposed for 10 of teacher’s houses of Industrial Training Institute, Mersing. It is predicted 10 kW load consumption per house. The hybrid energy system consists of wind, solar, biomass, hydro, and grid power. Approximately energy consumption is 860 kWh/day with a 105 kW peak demand load. The proposed hybrid renewable consists of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, wind turbine, hydro turbine and biomass. Battery and inverter are included as part of back-up and storage system. It provides the economic sensitivity of hybridization and the economic and environmental benefits of using a blend of technologies. It also presents the trade off that is involved in optimizing a hybrid energy system to harness and utilize the available renewable energy resources efficiently. A total of 100 pregnant women seen at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia participated in this study. The short version of the Malaysian Oral Health Impact Profile (S-OHIP(M)) questionnaire with five-point ordinal scale that ranges from ‘never’ to ‘very often’ was used to assess the frequency of oral impacts during the previous 12 months. The majority of the respondents were Malay (96.0%), with a mean age of 29.9 years (SD 5.78). The highest education level attained by most respondents was post-secondary qualification or Diploma (39.0%). Some had formal tertiary education (27.0%). The majority of them were income earners (74.0%) and contributed to the household income. Half of the respondents were in their third trimester of pregnancy while the remaining half was either in the first or second trimester. The severity of impact experienced by the women, which is the mean S-OHIP(M) score was high at 10.43 (95% CI = 8.96, 11.90). The prevalence of impact, which is the percentage of respondents reporting ‘fairly often’ or ‘very often’ to one or more impacts, was 36.0%. Common impacts experienced by the respondents include feeling uncomfortable because food got stuck in between teeth or dentures (22.0%), feeling that oral health problems had caused bad breath (13.0%), and feeling shy because of problems with teeth, mouth or dentures (9.0%). The results also demonstrated that neither the severity nor the prevalence of impact was influenced by the women’s socio-demographic background. The approaches are not very reliable, since the ID can be stolen and password can be forgotten. A more reliable identification system is required. In the last decades, identification systems based on biometrics have been gaining attention, since they are more reliable. Biometrics-based devices identify people based on their physical or psychological characteristics, such as palmprints, fingerprints, gait and iris. Unlike fingerprints or palmprints, irides features distribute randomly, and the features were unique; the features between right and left eyes aredifferent, as well as between twins. Therefore, in addition to reliability, the use of irides can enhance identification accuracy. Purpose of the paper was to improve identification rate of an iris identification method, using ordinal measure of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) coefficient. The input iris image was tiled into blocks of 8x8 pixels, then the DCT was applied to each blocks. The AC coefficients of each block were sorted from the smallest to the largest values, in which the sorted values were referred to as ordinal measures.Identification was accomplished by measuring a distance between the ordinal measure of the input images with the ones of the existing images in the database using Minkwoski distance metric. Proposed method increased the averaged identification rate as compared to the previous method by nearly twice from 33% to 61.4%.
