Dytran. An available material model in the finite element system, called piecewise linear plasticity, was applied in the simulation for describing the large strain, non-linear behavior of the polymeric materials. Maximum plastic strain failure criterion was used to simulate the impact failure. In the simulation, the mass served as a rigid surface strikes perpendicularly the potential impact region of an arbitrary designed- plastic sheet that was considered in the form of a fully-clamped circular thin plate. Contact between the mass and plate was applied and friction coefficient m between the mass and plate was assumed to be a constant value of 0.3. In order to study effect of the assumed friction coefficient value, additional simulations of the impact test have been performed using m = 0. Some limitations in the use of the material model were illustrated through the analysis of results from two types of tough polycarbonate (PC) alloys: PC/ABS and PC/PBT blends. This paper presents a study on hardness and tensile strength characteristics of a carbon steel A106 grade B welded using shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) method with employing normalizing procedures. With the PWHT technique, heating temperature of the steel, that was set up to 850°C, was then maintained for these following set of holding times: 10, 20 and 30 minutes before cooling. Heating and cooling rates of the carbon steel were also slowly maintained. Investigation results under tension showed that the tensile strength of the carbon steel decreased with increase of the holding time. The best tensile strength was achieved by the carbon steel treated with a holding time for 20 min. Toughness of the carbon steel under tension is also discussed in order to correlate the influence of employing the PWHT technique on their fracture modes. Investigation with Vickers hardness test showed that the Vickers hardness on weld metal, weld line, heat-affected zone (HAZ) and base metal of the welded carbon steel, respectively, decreased and tended to be equivalent with the increase of the holding time. The ore mixture pulp at a relative density of 1.29 was subjected to “bead milling”  test, particle size distribution analysis  and the 55% passing 75 µm was froth floated at 180, 200 and 220 g/t dosages of sodium isobutyl xanthate (SIBX) and 30 and 80 g/t of Senfroth and Sendep 30D frother and depressant, respectively. The results obtained indicated the predominance of the <38 µm PGM values in the ore and confirmed the need for tertiary milling for better liberation of the PGMs. The grade of the PGM concentrate obtained when dosing at 200 g/t of sodium isobutyl xanthate was highest at 94 g/t and gave the lowest recovery of 53%. The 180 g/t SIBX dosage resulted in highest PGM recovery of 70% and lowest grade of 84 g/t, while dosing at 220 g/t SIBX gave average PGM grades of 90 g/t  and  recoveries of 60%. In this technique, a laser light is focused on the surface of sample yielding a plasma just above the sample surface that used for analytical source. Nowadays, rapid powder analysis in tiny amount (mg) has been carried out using plasma induced by high power laser of  Nd:YAG (Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet) at atmospheric pressure. However, powder analysis using high power laser is still difficult to be carried out  due to blow of powder when irradiated laser beam focused on a powder sample. In general, the powder must be transformed into pellet form prior to analysis. Pellet sample requires a lot of powder and it takes time for preparation. In this study, we developed a technique of powder sample with its size about  30 µm (± 5 mg) that mixed with silicon grease (± 5 mg) that act as a binder. The mixed sample then thinly painted on the metal plate as sub-target. The study showed that by employing sillicon grease technique, a semiquantitative analysis of several elements contain in coal, rock, and  water  can be conducted. Meanwhile heavy metal in soils is still not able to detect. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner sebagai instrumen penelitian. Simple random sampling digunakan sebagai teknik pengambilan sampel. Teknik ini digunakan secara acak karena memberikan kesempatan yang sama kepada semua anggota populasi untuk ditetapkan sebagai anggota sampel. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisa jalur (path analysis).
