Suhu optimum reaksi dehidrasi etanol, 1-propanol dan 2-propanol menggunakan katalis bentonit terpilar alumina berturutturut adalah 250, 400 dan 200°C dengan konsentrasi dietil eter 25,44; 2,31 dan 3,29%. This study aimed to observe the effect of supplementation of ENERVON-C and SANTA-e in feed on sperm motility of local cocks. The research was conducted at Reproduction Laboratory, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. The research used 12 local cocks divided into 4 treatment groups : P0 (feed of 521), P1 (feed of 521 + 200 mg ENERVON-C/kg of feed), P2 (feed of 521 + 200 mg SANTA-e/kg feed) and P3 (feed of 521 + 100 mg ENERVON-C/kg of feed and 100 mg SANTA-e/kg of feed). During the research, all cocks were given 100 g of 521 feed/day. Feed with ENERVON-C and SANTA-e was given for 2 weeks before semen collections. Drink was given ad libitum. Data were analysed with analysis of variance and if there are effects among the treatments, analysis will be continued with Duncan Test. Results shows that supplementation of ENERVON-C or SANTA-e and their combination in feed can increase the percentage of sperm motility. There are significant differences (p<0,05) between control and treatment groups. To sum up, supplementation of ENERVON-C or SANTA-e in feed can improve the quality of sperm (motility) of local cocks. The sperm quality is better after giving of ENERVON-C and SANTA-e together than single supplementation. This study aimed to determine the effect of coconut water diluent, physiological NaCl and combination of coconut water-physiological NaCl to the survival of chicken spermatozoa at room temperature (25-29°C). Semen was collected from a local chicken of 1.5 years old with weight of 2 kg in massage twice a week. Once evaluated, a good quality semen was divided into 3 treatment groups: coconut water (P1), physiological saline (P2), and its combination (P3) with the addition of 20% egg yolk [(P1) 80:0:20 (P2) 0:80:20 and (P3) 40:40:20] and stored at room temperature. Evaluation of spermatozoa motility conducted every 1 hour until reaching 40% of spermatozoa motility. Data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with design patterns Split-plot and if there are differences between treatments tested by Duncan's multiple test. The results showed that motility of spermatozoa is significantly different (p <0.05) between storage time and diluent and there are interactions between storage time and diluent. P2 is able to maintain the minimum percentage of inseminated sperm motility (40%) for 4 hours, followed by P3 for 1 hour, and the lowest percentage motility of spermatozoa present in P1 for 0 hours. It can be concluded that the percentage of spermatozoa motility in group P2 is higher than P1 and P3. Semen was collected from 5 bulls twice a week using artificial vagina in Ungaran ArtificialInsemination Center, Central Java, Indonesia. Immediately after collection, samples were evaluated for semen volume, color, odor, viscosity, mass movement, individual movement, spermatozoa concentration and livespermatozoa percentage. Sperm concentration was measured using a spectrophotometer. Good quality fresh semen was processed to be frozen semen. Meanwhile, for frozen semen, the average percentage of motility is 38.00 ± 2.74% while the average proportions of live sperm and abnormal sperm are respectively 45.20 ± 9.86% and 6.00 ± 2.83%. In conclusion, in average, all parameters of fresh and frozen semen of Brahman bulls are in normal range. Penambahan rumput laut pada pembuatan mie basah diharapkan dapat meningkatkan nilai gizi kepada masyarakat karena rumput laut mengandung yodium dan kadar serat yang tinggi. Penggunaan rumput laut juga mempengaruhi karakteristik mie basah yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial. Faktor yang diteliti yaitu pengaruh konsentrasi rumput laut dan jenis tepung. Faktor konsentrasi rumput laut (R) terdiri atas 3 taraf yaitu R1 = 30%, R2 = 35%, dan R3 = 40%. Faktor jenis tepung (T) terdiri atas 2 taraf yaitu T1 = tepung terigu dan T2 = tepung beras. Type of seaweed that is usually processed into food and ready to eat is Gellidium sp. and Eucheuma sp. Diversification of processed seaweed is one of the efforts to improve the effectiveness and economic value of seaweed. It is by processing seaweed of Eucheuma cottonii into wet noodle. Wet noodle is made from flour mixed with other additives. Flour that often used in wet noodle processing is flour and rice. The addition of seaweed on a wet noodle making is expected to improve the nutritional value for society because seaweed contains iodine and high fiber. The use of seaweed also affected the characteristics of a wet noodle. The research was conducted using completely randomized design (CRD) factorial. Factors studied were the influence of the concentration and type of seaweed flour. Seaweed concentration factor (R) consisted of 3 levels, R1 = 30%, R2 = 35%, and R3 = 40%. Factors in the type of flour (T) consisted of two levels, T1 = T2 = flour and rice flour. This research was conducted using randomized block design consisted of two factors and three replications. The first factor is the percentage of the desiccated coconut addition to wheat flour with three levels (25%, 50% and 75%). The second factor is the variation treatment of the desiccated coconut; roasting and without roasting. The result showed that the percentage of desiccated coconut addition to wheat flour has a significant effect on protein content. RO requires large capital investment and maintenance, whereas MSF is too energy-intensive. Innovative system of vapor compression desalination is proposed in this study. Comprehensive mathematics model for evaporator is also described. From literature study, it is indicated that very high overall-heat-transfer coefficient for evaporator can be obtained at specific condition by using dropwise condensation in the steam side, and pool boiling in the liquid side. Smooth titanium surface is selected in order to increase dropwise condensation, and resist corrosion. To maximize energy efficiency, a cogeneration scheme of a combined cycle consisting of gas turbine, boiler heat recovery, and steam turbine that drives compressor is used. The resource for combined cycle is relatively too high for the compressor requirement. Excess power can be used to generate electricity for internal and/or external consumptions, and sold to open market. Four evaporator stages are used. Evaporator is fed by seawater, with assumption of 3.5% salt contents. Boiling brine (7% salt) is boiled in low pressure side of the heat exchanger, and condensed vapor is condensed in high pressure side of the heat exchanger. Condensed steam flows at velocity of 1.52 m/s, so that it maximize the heat transfer coefficient. This unit is designed in order to produce 10 million gallon/day, and assumed it is financed with 5%, 30 years of passive obligation. Three cases are evaluated in order to determine recommended condition to obtain the lowest fixed capital investment. Based on the evaluation, it is possible to establish four-stage unit of mechanical vapor compression distillation with capital $31,723,885.
