Kata kunci: DSSC, dye alami, buah jamblang, buah gadung, dan serapan cahayaABSTRACT Characterization of natural dye from jamblang fruit (Syzygium cumini) and gadung fruit (Dioscorea alata) have been analyzed. This research aims to determine the absorption capacity of the two materials, and to see the absorption properties of the mixed materials. This study also aims to see the functional group of natural dye from jamblang and gadung fruit. The extracts of jamblang and gadung fruits was made using ethanol solven: aquadest: acetic acid in the ratio 50:42:8 ml concentration. Characterization of dye was done using UV-Vis spectrophotometer to see absorption properties and FTIR Spectroscopy to see the functions group. The results from UV-Vis shows that dye made from the jamblang fruit was able to absorb the maximum wavelength of 528 nm, meanwhile the maximum wavelength of gadung absorption was 523.50 nm. On the other hand, the dye from mix both of jamblang and gadung fruit was able to absorbs at 523 nm of maximum wavelength. The range of dye light absorption for jamblang fruit extract was 528-586 nm, for gadung fruit was from 523.50 to 580 nm, and for the mix of both of them was 523-578 nm. The light absorption jamblang, gadung fruit, and mix both of them the were 1.389, 0.252, and 0.309 respectively. The result showed that the dye from jamblang fruit extracts has the widest value for range of light and also has the value for the light absorption. The results of FT-IR from the third sample shows the presence of hydroxyl compounds (O-H) and carbonyl (C=O), that made this dye has possibility to be applied in DSSC. <text>The capacity of energy storage and temperature storage has come into consideration in choosing thermal energy storage system. Absorbed or released material either big or small can be determined by finding the value of the specific heat (Cp) and the latent heat fusion (HL). Available method to determine latent heat of fusion (H), specific heat (Cp), temperature melting (Tm) and thermal conductivity (k) are conventional calorimetry method, Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Measurement of physical properties of phase change material using DTA and DSC has disadvantage due to small weight that used for sample (1-10 mg), so that thermophysic of sample usually different when the material is used in large quantities. In this study, T-history method is used to determine thermophysic heat storage material. Examination results show the match value in latent heat (Hm) of paraffin with DSC testing results are 249.42 KJ / kg with 251 KJ / kg. The results of calculations using the T-History for paraffin obtained at temperature Tm 52.72 to 59.9 0C; Cp of 2.54 to 3.57 KJ / Kg.K; Hm at 249.42 KJ / Kg; k of 0, 18 W / mK. For bee-wax Tm obtained at temperatures from 52.4 to 61.79 0C; Cp of 2.65 to 3.45 KJ / Kg.K; Hm of 171 KJ / Kg; k of 0.234 W / mK. For fat cow obtained at temperature Tm 40.82 to 44.10C; Cp of 3.19 to 4.16 KJ / Kg.K; Hm at 60.13 KJ / Kg; k of 0.181 W / mK. It can be concluded after examanination that Paraffin is a good material as a phase change material (PCM) in comparison to bee-wax and beef fat.</text>

Brown.), senduduk fruit (Melastoma malabathricum L.), and a mixture of suji leaf and senduduk fruit has been done. All three samples were tested by using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer and FT-IR Spectroscopy. The UV-Vis test results showed that the suji leaf extracts absorb light in the range 672.50-705 nm, while for senduduk fruit extracts absorb light in the range 513-575. On the other hand, the light absorbtion for the mixture of suji leaf and senduduk fruit has range 513.50-590 nm. When viewed from the width of the absorption spectral , suji leaf has a width of absorption spectral of 32.5 nm , 62 nm for senduduk fruit and a mixture of both 76.5 nm. These results indicate that the mixing of the two samples affect the increased the width spectral uptake. FT-IR test results indicate the presence of hydroxyl compounds and carbonyl compounds in all three samples. Gap energy of the dye from suji leaf is 1.75 eV, while for senduduk fruit and a mixture of both has were was 2.12 and 2.06 respectively. Drom width of the absorption spectral , the dye derived from the senduduk fruit and mix between senduduk fruit and suji leaf has better characters to be applied in DSSC.Keywords : DSSC, natural dye, suji leaves, senduduk fruit, absorption of light</text>
