The catalyst compositions were CuCrO2, Cu2O, Al2O3 and SiO2. The catalyst contained 5, 10, 20, and 30 wt.%  of Cu-Cr respectively, with Cu : Cr ratio of 1:1. The catalytic performance of the samples was evaluated based on the application to a hydrogenated  palm oil at 70oC and 7 bar of pressure by measuring its iodine number. The result showed that the bimetallic Cu-Cr deposited onto diatomite was an effective catalysts for hydrogenation of palm oils and its catalytic activity was highly dependent on the composition of metals. Iodine number of palm oil decreased to 27.2  from 43.28 by using of 30 wt.% of Cu-Cr after 120 minutes reaction   almost similar to the performance of commercial nickel catalyst that could decrease the iodine number to 26.1. Keywords: hydrogenation, palm oil, copper-chromium, diatomite, impregnation. Peningkatan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah dan Komunikasi Matematis Siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama melalui Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS)Kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis merupakan salah satu pencapaian kurikulum yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Untuk itu perlu adanya model pembelajaran yang tepat dalam peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan komunikasi matematis siswa, salah satu model yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan ini adalah model kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran model kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share dan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan suatu studi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pre-test post-test control group design. Dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII, salah satu MTsS di Banda Aceh dengan mengambil sampel dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol melalui teknik purposive sampling dari empat kelas paralel yang tersedia. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes yaitu tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Untuk melihat adanya perbedaan kemampuan siswa antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol digunakan uji-t pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan penggunaan model kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) Peningkatan hasil belajar geografi siswa kelas VII-2 MTsN Rukoh Banda Aceh yang diajarkan dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran aktif bermain jawaban; (2) Aktivitas guru dan siswa dalam pembelajaran yang menerapkan metode pembelajaran aktif bermain jawaban; (3) Keterampilan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran yang diajarkan dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran aktif bermain jawaban; (4) Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran yang diajarkan dengan metode pembelajaran aktif bermain jawaban. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII-2 MTsN Rukoh Banda Aceh yang berjumlah 36 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes hasil belajar siswa,lembar pengamatan aktivitas guru dan siswa, lembar pengamatan keterampilan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran, dan angket respon siswa. Analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif persentase. ketuntasan secara individual dan klasikal meningkat dari 58,33 menjadi 88,88; (2) Aktivitas guru yang dominan adalah saat guru menyuruh salah satu kelompok untuk membaca pertanyaan dan satu anggota kelompok maju ke depan untuk mencari jawaban yang ada dalam kantong jawaban. Aktivitas siswa yang dominan adalah saat siswa mencari jawaban dalam kantong di depan papan tulis dan siswa lain mengarahkan temannya untuk mendapatkan jawaban yang benar; (3) Keterampilan guru dalam menerapkanmetode pembelajaran aktif bermain jawaban meningkat dari sedang menjadi baik; dan (4) Respon siswa menunjukkan bahwacara guru menyampaikan materi menggunakan cara yang baru, sehingga siswa memahami materi pelajaran yang baru diikuti, dan mengatakan menarik mengenai metode pembelajaran yang baru diikuti, kemudian siswa menjawab materi yang dipelajari menarik, soal evaluasi yang digunakan baik, suasana kelas menyenangkan, penampilan guru menarik, sertasiswa berminat mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode pembelajaran aktif bermain jawaban.
