Water and sediment of rivers near industrial areas such as the Juru River in Penang and Langat River in Selangor are polluted with heavy metals. Thus, rapid and fast methods to detect the presence of heavy metals in the environment are necessary. Existing instrumental methods such as atomic absorption and emission spectrometry are very sensitive but the sole use of these instruments for heavy metal detection is extremely expensive, needs a skillful person to operate and is not amenable to near-real-time analysis. The best scenario for routine biomonitoring of heavy metals is the marriage between instrument- and bioassays. Currently, the USEPA has recognized whole cell-based bioassays such as as PolytoxTM and Microtox® for the detection of heavy metals. Unfortunately these cell-based assays cannot be used as real-time or near real-time assays in the field as they require bulky incubators. Near-real-time monitoring of heavy metals giving results in less than one hour is very useful in environmental CSI (Criminal Scene Investigation) or ECSI where temporal and spatial concentrations of heavy metals in running waters are a challenge to environmentalists to pinpoint heavy metals POS (point of source) for legal purposes. Enzyme-based inhibitive assays are simple, rapid and fast and could be developed for near real-time assays. We have developed an inhibitive assay system –Xenoassay® based on proteases for the assay of heavy metals. The system could detect the heavy metals mercury, cadmium, lead, copper, zinc and silver at the sub parts per million level. Field trial near-real-time assay capability shows promising results. Mesin ketam adalah sebuah mesin yang gerakan pahat bergerak bolak balik yang melakukan pemotongan berupa garis lurus sehingga terjadilah pemotongan menghasilkan permukaan benda kerja rata. Suatu perencanaan sistem produksi mesin ketam kayu jenis HM2 Kombi ini dicoba untuk mengambil batasan terhadap tata letak peralatan produksi yang digunakan, spesifikasi peralatan yang digunakan dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan waktu produksi yang efektif dan biaya produksi yang minimum. Tujuan dari tugas akhir ini adalah untuk meminimalkan waktu produksi dan biaya produksi yang lebih murah dalam merencanaan produksi mesin ketam jenis HM2 Kombi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu melakukan tinjauan ke laboraturium desain dan manufaktur kemudian akan dibuat suatu sistem produksi baru dimulai dari penyusunan layout produksi pemilihan peralatan produksi dan perhitungan waktu dan biaya produksi. Dari hasil penelitian ini maka didapat suatu kesimpulan bahwa layout produksi yang ditetapkan untuk proses produksi mesin ketam kayu ini yaitu jenis layout proses. Sejalan dengan perkembangan Kota Banda Aceh sebagai Ibukota Provinsi Aceh yang memiliki aktivitas kompleks, kawasan pinggiran sebagai daerah penyangga secara langsung menerima dampak terhadap perkembangan kota tersebut. Kecamatan Banda Raya, Lueng Bata, dan Ulee Kareng sebagai kawasan pinggiran Kota Banda Aceh dengan daya dukung untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat yang tinggi. Penggunaan lahan dikawasan ini berbasis pada sektor pertaniaan, sehingga perekonomian di kawasan pinggiran ini sangat bergantung pada pemasaran hasil pertanian namun secara fungsional kecamatan-kecamaan ini berfungsi untuk mendukung aktivitas perkotaan Kota Banda Aceh. Semua proses ini menyebabkan perubahan dalam aspek keruangan yang akan mempengaruhi pola perkembangan di kawasan pinggiran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Tujuannya untuk mengidentifikasi kondisi eksisting dan perubahan penggunaan lahan yang terjadi dikawasan pinggiran terkait dengan kebijakan pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh serta mengarahkan pola perkembangan kawasan pinggiran kota (urban fringe) di Banda Aceh. Manfaat penelitian ini adalah untuk memberi informasi bagi Pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh sebagai bahan pertimbangan dan acuan dalam menentukan kebijakan pengembangan kawasan pinggiran Kota Banda Aceh.Perkembangan kawasan yang ditandai dengan perubahan penggunaan lahan tertinggi terdapat pada Kecamatan Ulee Kareng yaitu di Gampong Ceurih dan sepanjang jalur transportasi baru yaitu Jalan Prof. Ali Hasyimi yang melintasi Gampong Lambhuk, Lamteh, Ilie dan Pango Raya. Pada Kecamatan Banda Raya perubahan penggunaan lahan terbangun sangat jelas terlihat di Gampong Mibo, Lhong Raya dan Lampeuot. Pada Kecamatan Lueng Bata perubahan penggunaan lahan terbangun terjadi di Gampong Batoh dan Lamdom. Arahan kebijakan pengembangan kawasan pinggiran Kecamatan Lueng Bata telah menyentuh pada wilayah cepat berkembang yaitu Gampong Batoh. Namun Gampong Mibo di Kecamatan Banda Raya dan Gampong Ceurih di Kecamatan Ulee Kareng yang tidak termasuk dalam kebijakan pengembangan kawasan pinggiran justru berkembang dengan pesat, sehingga perkembangan kawasan pinggiran pada Kecamatan Banda Raya dan Ulee Kareng berjalan secara alami, tanpa arahan kebijakan Pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh. It is an evaluative descriptive study that describes preparations by the lecturer, the teaching techniques used, the teaching activities, the teaching materials and resources, and the assessment of the students’ achievements. The subjects of this research were the English lecturer and all the third semester students at the academy. The instruments used for collecting data were observations, interviews, and document analysis of the English lecturer’s syllabus and lesson plan. The findings of this research are in three parts. The findings from the observation concerned on (a) the syllabus and lesson plan, (b) the materials and learning resources, and (c) the scheduling of the lessons. The findings from the interviews were on (a) the academic administrator who did not ask the English lecturer to prepare lesson plans before starting the lessons, and (b) the English lessons were focused only on speaking. Finally, the findings from the document analysis were on (a) the English syllabus that did not fully cover the subjects as set-out in the curriculum, and (b) the assessment of achievements of the students was well done by the English lecturer. Perilaku merokok merupakan suatu permasalahan kesehatan dan juga sebagai faktor resiko dari berbagai penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan perilaku merokok kepala keluarga di Gampong Ceurih Kecamatan Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh Tahun 2014. Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif korelatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional study. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh kepala keluarga yang berjumlah 738 orang, teknik pengambilan sampel adalah purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 100 orang kepala keluarga yang mengkonsumsi rokok. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara terpimpin. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kuesioner yang terdiri dari 34 item pernyataan dalam bentuk dichotomous dan 5 item pertanyaan dalam bentuk skala likert. Metode analisis data dengan menggunakan uji statistik chi-square, hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan antara pengetahuan dengan perilaku merokok (p-value = 0,071), ada hubungan antara sikap dengan perilaku merokok (p-value 0,002), kepercayaan dengan perilaku merokok (p-value 0,001), ketersediaan fasilitas dengan perilaku merokok (p-value 0,000), pengaruh kelompok referensi dengan perilaku merokok (p-value 0,002) pada kepala keluarga di Gampong Ceurih Kecamatan Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh tahun 2014.
