<text>Monitoring of physiological stress in wild and/or endangered animals living in their natural habitat can be generated via measuring faecal glucocorticoid metabolites (FGCMs) through enzyme immunoassay technique. However, a careful validation of each enzyme immunoassays (EIAs) and methodological issues such as samples preservation, and extraction procedures must be a significant concern and validated because it may influence FGCMs levels. In this present study, the aim was to carry out a biological validation to find reliable EIAs that could be used for non-invasive measurement of glucocorticoid levels in crested macaques. Moreover, we compared three different techniques of preservation: lyophilisation, oven drying and field extraction and three different solvents for extraction: 80% methanol, 90% pure ethanol and 90% commercial alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to find the simple and practical techniques for sample processing. For hormone analysis, we colIected 189 faecal samples from wild crested macaques living in the Tangkoko-Batuangus Nature Reserve, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The results show that biological validation can be used to validate measurement of faecal glucocorticoid which 3α,11β-dihydroxy-etiocholanolone was the most reliable EIAsfor this species. Different preservation and solvent extraction were not significantly influenced levels of FGCMs (p>0.05). In conclusion, Our study highlights the importance of biological validation of FGCMassays and presents practical techniques for the non-invasive monitoring of physiological stress in crested macaques.</text>

<text>AbstractThe purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of an iso-intense continuous and intermittent training program on maximum aerobic capacity ( O2 max) and other anthopometric profiles, like, body mass index (BMI) and fat mass of sedentary males. 24 healthy sedentary males of 21.8±3.7years participated in this study. They were divided into 3 groups, like, control group (n=9), continuous training group (n=7) and intermittent training group (n=8). Exercise group performed the training 3 days per week up to 12 week. The study was approved by ethical committee of the UniversitiSains Malaysia, KubangKerian, Kelantan, Malaysia. O2 max of each individual was determined following a graded exercise protocol to exhaustion, on an Excalibur Lode Cycle ergometer. For continuous exercise, subjects cycledat 60% of individual O2 max for 45 minute on an ergometer. In intermittent training, the subjects cycled at 45% of individual O2 max for 10 min followed by 5 min rest and then at 75% of individual O2 max for 10 min followed by 5 min rest. This repetition continued until 45 min. Both the training programme were madeiso-intense. The relative O2max of both the continuous and intermittent training groups improved significantly, but the degree of improvement was more in intermittent training programme. No improvement was observed in BMI. Regular physical activity is a part of healthy lifestyle that is known to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease. Hence, in conclusion, our study indicated a beneficial effect of exercise training in improving the cardiorespiratory fitness ( O2 max), through continuous and intermittent training programme.</text>

<text>Abstract – In this research bentonite was used as filler to produce polymer electrolyte (PVCLiClO4). Some weight variation of bentonite have been made by addition, such as 0% wt/wt; 5% wt/wt ; 10% wt/wt ; 15% wt/wt ; 20% wt/wt ; and 25% wt/wt of bentonite to the mixture of 0,5 gram of PVC and 0,125 gram of LiClO4. Ionic conductivity of polymer electrolyte was tested using impedance spectroscopy. The result of the research was showed that a mixture of PVCBentonite( 10% wt/wt)-LiClO4 gives the highest ionic conductivity (4,86 x 10-3 S.Cm-1). This result indicated that the presence of natural bentonite can be used as a filler in the current composite polymer electrolyte and can increase the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte.</text>
