Raf.] merupakan tumbuhan tropis yang telah digunakan sebagai obat tradisional. Telah dilakukan uji toksisitas akut ekstrak metanol daun flamboyan terhadap mencit strain Swiss-Webster. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan daya toksisitas akut ekstrak metanol daun flamboyan yang diberikan secara oral pada mencit. Ekstraksi daun dilakukan di Laboratorium Hayati Jurusan Kimia dan Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Jurusan Biologi, sedangkan perlakuan terhadap hewan uji dilakukan di Laboratorium Mikroteknik Jurusan Biologi Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Syiah Kuala. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 8 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan: 0 mg/kg bb (P0), 500 mg/kg bb (P1), 1000 mg/kg bb (P2), 2000 mg/kg bb (P3), 3000 mg/kg bb (P4), 4000 mg/kg bb (P5), 5000 mg/kg bb (P6) dan 6000 mg/kg bb (P7). Parameter yang diamati meliputi jumlah kematian dengan menentukan nilai LD50, berat badan, gejala klinis, berat organ (hati dan ginjal) relatif, serta perubahan warna dan tekstur organ mencit secara makroskopis. Hasil pengujian toksisitas akut, tidak menemukan adanya kematian mencit pada setiap tingkatan dosis. Dari hal tersebut dapat diperoleh nilai LD50 ekstrak flamboyan termasuk ke dalam kelompok tidak toksik. Hasil pengamatan terhadap berat badan mencit menunjukkan terjadi penurunan berat badan pada semua kelompok perlakuan, kecuali P0. Hasil pengamatan terhadap gejala klinis mencit menunjukkan adanya penurunan aktivitas lokomotor pada kelompok P1-P7, peningkatan perilaku agresif pada kelompok P3, P6 dan P7 serta mencit tampak lesu pada kelompok P3 dan P4. Hasil Analisis Varian (ANAVA) menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun flamboyan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap berat hati dan ginjal mencit (P>0,05). Berdasarkan pengamatan terhadap organ secara makroskopis, pada kelompok P3-P7 ditemukan adanya perubahan warna organ dari warna merah kecoklatan menjadi pucat dan permukaan organ menjadi kasar serta adanya bintik-bintik putih. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun flamboyan tidak menyebabkan kematian, namun menyebabkan kerusakan organ hati dan ginjal mencit.Kata Kunci : Delonix regia (Boj. Ex Hook.) However,  we lost about  20,000 people by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake tsunami.  It makes clear that we never rescue the people from the tsunami only by an early warming syste. In February 2004, a research team of Nagoya University was coming to Banda Aceh to investigate the disaster on th 2004 Sumatra earthquake tsunami (I was a research member of Nagoya University  at the 2004 Sumatra earthquake, and joint the research team  since the first field survey in 2012). Not only the natural scientists but also the humanities’ scientists, including Indonesians join the research team, and field researches in Aceh have been continued every year until now. As results of the research, eight annual reports totally to 1,000 pages and four books, including writings in Indonesia are published. Through the first interviews in Banda Aceh, we understand that not so many peo- ple remained the tsunami coming after the earthquake felt, and when they watched the tsunami they never shouted ”Tsunami!”. They shouted out,”Sea is ascending”. As re- sults, there are many fatalities by the tsunami along the coastlines.They had no time to evacuate from the tsunami, because they started the evacuation after they watched the attacking tsunami. In one village, only the people going out the village to the down-town were saving their lives.
