Hence, this investigation evaluates the antidepressant effect of selected crude extracts in the forced swimming test (FST) and tail suspension test (TST), two models predictive of antidepressant activity. The acute treatment of mice with extracts by intra-peritoneal (i.p.) route significantly reduced the immobility time in the FST (50 and 100 mg/kg) and TST (50 and 100 mg/kg), as compared to positive controls (haloperidol and fluoxetine) at 1 and 10 mg/kg, respectively. On the third day of experiment, a significant decrease of mobility was observed for chloroform extract (CE I) and butanol extract (BE II) compared to first day. CE I and BE II led to reduction of immobility time, as the selected extracts with two doses administered were different compared to the control, in the FST method by 65.37% and53.92% for 100 mg/kg, respectively. However, CE I showed the best result compared to our positive controls. Similar results of increased antidepressant effect, that was, of immobility time depending on the concentration administered, were obtained with the TST method. Also our data showed that there was no significant differences between doses (50 and 100 mg/kg). The results suggested that the antidepressant action of the butanol extract and of U. dioica its fraction (BE II2) was mediated by an interaction with 5-hydroxytrptamine (5-HT). U. dioica showed a potential source for the isolation of important natural products with antidepressant-like properties. Penelitian ini menggunakan organ usus yang berasal dari satu ekor biawak air jantan dewasa. Biawak air dilakukan proses perfusi untuk memasukkan larutan fiksasi paraformaldehid 4% melalui jantung. Setelah proses perfusi selesai, usus diambil dan dibagi menjadi 6 bagian, menjadi usus bagian I, II, III, IV, V, dan VI lalu dimasukkan kembali ke dalam larutan paraformaldehid 4% selama 4 hari dan diproses hingga menjadi preparat histologi dan diwarnai dengan pewarnaan hematoksilin-eosin (HE). Pengamatan morfologi anatomi dilakukan sebelum usus diproses menjadi preparat histologi dengan mengamati bentuk luar dan dalam dari usus serta dilakukan pengukuran panjang usus. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of supplementation on the development didrogesteron placenta in pregnancy by measuring the levels of PlGF. This study is a randomized double-blind clinical trial (Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial) held at the Antenatal Clinic (ANC) at the General Hospital dr. In this study there were two groups of women of reproductive age who are not in pairs is given didrogesteron group A while group B received placebo. Measurement of PlGF levels in both groups performed before and after treatment. PlGF levels prior to treatment in Group A 25.95 pg/ml while Group B 40.80 pg/ml. PlGF levels after the measurement results given didrogesteron in Group A for 4 weeks gainedincreasing levels of PlGF is 212.15 pg/ml, whereas in group B were given a placebo for 4 weeks was 89.60 pg/ml. Data analysis was performed using bivariate analysis between supplementation didrogesteron and PlGFlevels using SPSS 17. Analysis of data for comparative analytical numerical information unpaired two groups: Group A: the results of a PlGF levels in pregnant subjects were given didrogesteron and Group B: the results ofa PlGF levels in pregnant patients given placebo. Unpaired t-test results of the two groups showed that the group receiving didrogesteron have elevated levels of PlGF were significantly (p = 0.000 or p < 0.05) compared with the placebo group were only given alone. From these results it can be concluded that the administration can trigger didrogesteron PlGF levels in women of reproductive age. Patient with anemia in Aceh Province 2007 as 82.794 and be found LBW from 109.183 pregnant women. This research is a deskriptive analytic study with cross sectional design where the objective of researchers to look at relationships and characteristic of anemia pregnant women with LBW in the dr. Zainoel Abidin hospital Banda Aceh. The population of this research was pregnant women who gave birth in the delivery room and selected by samples Accidental Sampling in pregnant women with gestational age > 36-40 weeks from January to February which amount to 47 samples. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis was with Chi-Square Test and Fisher Exact Test. The results showed that 12.8% of pregnant women gave birth LBW babies. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was no association between anemia (p = 0.317), parity (p = 0.085), education (p = 0.241) and occupation (p = 0.343) with LBW. Whereas age (p = 0.00, PR = 10.7, 95% CI = 3.14 to 36.7, ? = 0,05) there is a relationship with LBW. Pregnant women are advised to consult regularly and to consume iron tablets to preventing anemia and LBW babies. Suggestion for dr.
