The co-solvent used are tetrahydrofuran and hexane. The experimental result shows that the transesterification rate was improved when compared to the system without cosolvents. The biodiesel produced in the experiment was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), which showed that methyl oleate was the highest compound in biodiesel. Bindar, Yazid Date A point or period of time associated with an event in the lifecycle of the resource 2011-12-30 Description An account of the resource The increase of current fossil fuel consumption has led to an increase of soot emission into atmosphere.  Accurate prediction of soot production and destruction in a combustion system is not only important for the purpose of the design of the system, but also vital for the operation of the combustor. Numerous soot models have been proposed to predict the soot production and destruction in a flame, categorized as empirical, semi-empirical and detailed soot models.  Although the detailed model represents the highest level of soot modelling, its use has been impaired by substantial requirement of resources of computer and time. Therefore, empirical and semi-empirical approaches still have their position in soot modelling of practical combustors. In this study, two soot models, single-step and two-step models are examined in the simulation of atmospheric turbulent non-premixed sooting flames. The soot models are compared and evaluated for their performance in predicting soot level in methane and ethylene non-premixed flames.  The commercial software Fluent 6.3 was used to perform the calculations of flow and mixing fields, combustion and soot. Standard k-ε and eddy dissipation models were selected as solvers for the representation of the turbulence and combustion, respectively.  The two soot models used in the study are available directly from the code for evaluation. The results show that the two-step model clearly performed far better than the single-step model in predicting the soot level in both methane and ethylene non-premixed flames. With a slight modification in the constant a of the soot formation equation, the two-step model was capable of producing prediction of soot level closer to experimental data.  In contrast, the single-soot model produced very poor results, leading to a significant under-prediction of soot levels in both flames. Material semen dalam beton sangat penting dikarenakan semen berfungsi sebagai bahan pengikat antara agregat kasar dan agregat halus. Semen yang digunakan untuk pekerjaan beton harus disesuaikan dengan rencana kekuatan dan spesifikasi teknik yang diberikan. Pemilihan tipe semen mudah dilakukan karena semen dapat langsung diambil dari sumbernya (pabrik). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan semen Andalas Tipe A dan semen Andalas Tipe I terhadap kuat tekan beton dengan variasi nilai Faktor Air Semen (FAS) dan umur pengerasan. Perencanaan campuran beton menggunakan metode American Concrete Institute 211.1-91. Ukuran maksimum agregat adalah 31,5 mm. Benda uji yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah silinder beton berdiameter 15 cm dan tinggi 30 cm. Pada penelitian ini umur pengujian kuat tekan adalah 3, 7, 14, 21 dan 28 hari dengan variasi FAS 0,46 dan 0,57. Jumlah sampel untuk semua variasi FAS pada setiap pengujian kuat tekan beton adalah 15 buah benda uji untuk masing-masing tipe semen. Kuat tekan beton dengan variasi FAS dan umur yaitu pada penggunaan FAS 0,46, kuat tekan beton dengan penggunaan perekat berupa semen Tipe I, dan semen Tipe A, dari umur 3 hari hingga mencapai umur 28 hari, meningkat berturut-turut dari 220,21 kg/cm2 menjadi 389,97 kg/cm2, dan 203,23 kg/cm2 menjadi 370,43 kg/cm2. Untuk penggunaan FAS 0,57 pada penggunaan perekat dan periode yang sama, nilai kuat tekannya meningkat berturut-turut dari 167,95 kg/cm2 menjadi 304,29 kg/cm2, dan 155,13 kg/cm2 menjadi 287,63 kg/cm2. Hasil pengujian kuat tekan dari jenis semen yang digunakan, terlihat bahwa beton dengan perekat berupa semen Andalas Tipe I mampu mengembangkan kekuatan yang lebih tinggi untuk setiap umur penguatanbila dibandingkan dengan beton dengan perekat semen Andalas Tipe A baik pada penggunaan FAS 0,46 maupun FAS 0,57. The main sources of these fatty acids are fish and fish oils. However, fish supply is limited and the availability is uncertain. There are two main problems with regard to fish supply: overfishing and mercury contamination. In addition, food enrichment with fish oil is apparently challenging due to sensitivity of fish oil to oxidation, and fishy smell which make them less attractive to consumers. Based on above problems, alternative sources of EPA and DHA must be found. Analternative for omega-3 fatty acids are microalgae. This research aims to isolate, identify, and find microalgae biodiversity that are able to produce omega-3 fatty acids in their cells. Microalgae were isolated from fallen, senescent leaves of mangrove tree (Kandelia candel) in two locations in Aceh. The colonies were identified morphologically using light and stereo microscopes with 1000x magnifications. The results were compared with those in literatures. This research has isolated and identified some genus of microalgae thatwere predicted belong to order Labyrinthulida and family Thraustochytriidae. Morphological observations have also confirm identification of one fungi, genus Mortierella. In this paper the spatio-temporal pattern of wolf spiders (Lycosidae) in oil palm plantation was studied. It was conducted at Yayasan Pahang Oil Palm Plantation, Endau Rompin, Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia which were managed by the Yayasan Pahang Plantation Sdn. Bhd in two selected blocks (B36 and B37) for one plot each. Samplings were made from May 2010 to April 2011 usingpitfall trap method and operated at different temporal spans. This was to compare the variations in spatialtemporal pattern at different plots and times. Pitfall traps were arranged in grid 10 x 5 for each plot and the pitfall were flushed into the ground. This sampling method was effective for ground-dwelling arthropods besides it was low cost methods and continuous sampling effort (active during day and night). The samples were preserved into 70% ethyl alcohol and 30% of glycerol. A total of 272 individuals of Lycosidae were collected during the study periods. Spatial pattern of Lycosidae were analysed using SADIE while the maps for the distribution were generated using SURFER. The environmental factors such as soil properties, climatic conditions, prey predator interactions and management practices for the plantations might be affecting the population and distribution for Lycosidae which were needed further investigation.
