Bacterial cellulose is produced from the fermentation process. The purpose of this study was to analysis the effect of cmc, glycerol and fermentation time towards cellulose membrane characteristics. Cellulose membrane made of a combination of coconut water and palm sugar juice as medium fermentation by using Acetobacter xylinum at 2, 4 and 6 days for fermentation time. Cellulose membrane obtained from a mixture of bacterial cellulose, cmc and glycerol. The addition of cmc and glycerol to improve cellulose membrane characteristics and performance. Based on the analysis results obtained the best performance at 4 days of fermentation time with a concentration of 1.5% cmc and 1.5% glycerol. The thickness of the cellulose membrane was almost the same for all samples and does not affect significantly towards the fermentation time for cellulose membrane production. Cellulose membrane has an asymmetric shape based on morphological analysis using SEM. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil penderita retinopati hipertensif pada pasien gagal ginjal kronis di ruang dialisis RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh periode November-Desember 2011. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Penelitian ini dilakukan di ruang dialisis dan poliklinik mata RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara total sampling dimana seluruh populasi dijadikan sampel. Jumlah pasien dengan komplikasi retinopati hipertensif didapatkan sebanyak 17 pasien. Variabel yang diteliti adalah umur, jenis kelamin, stadium hipertensi dan lama menderita hipertensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pasien gagal ginjal kronik dengan komplikasi retinopati hipertensif paling banyak ditemukan pada umur < 50 tahun sebanyak 10 pasien (58,82%), pada jenis kelamin laki-laki sebanyak 12 pasien (70,59%), pada hipertensi stadium II sebanyak 12 pasien (70,59%) dan lama menderita hipertensi < 5 tahun sebanyak 10 pasien (58,82%). The EC of the UAE is one of these areas where farmers can’t utilize their farmland because of the increased salinity in irrigation water. This problem increased at the end of the last century as a result of the increased population and the expanding area of EC cities which put more pressure on the existing underground water resources. This paper highlights the main reasons behind this problem and examines both the government and the EC farmers' efforts to reduce the impact of water shortage on EC farming activities. Farmer’s points of views were collected through direct personal contacts to evaluate the nature and the volume of this problem. Future alternatives are suggested to help in reducing the effect of water shortages on the farming activities in the EC of the UAE. Salah satu instrument yang dapat digunakan untuk mengukur kualitas hidup pasien PGK yang menjalani terapi CAPD adalah kuisioner Short Form-36. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kualitas hidup berdasarkan SF-36 pada penderita PGK yang menjalani terapi CAPD. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pasien PGK yang menjalani terapi CAPD di RSUDZA Banda Aceh yang berjumlah 22 orang dengan metode pengambilan sampel secara total sampling. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuisioner SF-36 yang ditanyakan langsung kepada pasien. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penderita PGK yang menjalani terapi CAPD terbanyak pada usia 40-59 tahun yaitu sebanyak 12 orang (54,55%) dengan proporsi antara laki-laki dan perempuan sebanding. Penyebab pasien PGK yang menjalani terapi CAPD terbanyak disebabkan oleh penyakit diabetes mellitus. Kualitas hidup pasien yang baik sebanyak 19 orang (86,36%) dan kualitas hidup pasien yang buruk sebanyak 3 orang (13,64%). Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini bahwa kualitas hidup penderita PGK yang menjalani terapi CAPD adalah baik, namun nilai yang diperoleh untuk kategori kesehatan pasien secara umum tetap kurang baik. Diharapkan kepada pihak keluarga dan perawat yang menangani pasien CAPD untuk lebih memotivasi pasien dalam menjalani hidupnya agar tercapai kualitas hidup yang lebih baik.
