Banyak tumbuhan yangdigunakan dalam pengobatan tradisional, salah satunya yaitu daun jarak (Jatrophacurcas L.) yang berguna sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengetahui adanya aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol daun jarak terhadappertumbuhan Escherichia coli secara in vitro. Penelitian menggunakan RancanganAcak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 6 kelompok perlakuan dan 4 pengulangan. Metodeyang digunakan adalah metode difusi dengan menggunakan cakram kertas.Kekeruhan suspensi bakteri disesuaikan dengan nilai absorbent 0,1 darispektrofotometer. Biakan bakteri diswab merata pada Mueller Hilton Agar(MHA). Masing-masing cakram ditetesi ekstrak daun jarak dengan konsentrasi20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, Ciprofloxacin 5 ?g, dan Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC)1% sebanyak 20 ?l. Parameter yang diamati yaitu luas zona hambat yangterbentuk. Data hasil penelitian setelah dilakukan Analisis Sidik Ragam pada taraf0,05 menunjukan berbeda nyata antar perlakuan. Kemudian, hasil uji Beda NyataTerkecil (BNT) menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan nyata pada taraf 0,05 untuksetiap kosentrasi perlakuan. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi, semakin luas zonahambat yang terbentuk. Dan didapatkan kosentrasi 80% merupakan kosentrasiyang paling efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli. Biological processes are defined by certain structures; biological rectification is achieved by biological structures too. These rectifying biological structures are the biological rectifying valves, a definition adopted from physics. An extension of this notion leads to a generalization of the rectification phenomena in biological systems. The practical value of this theoretical concept is widely presumed. Here we show that the loss of rectification may result in dysfunction or even destruction of the biological system, the rectification implies the simplification of biological processes, reduce the utilization of energy in biological systhems and in general can help in understanding the processes in the human body and biology better.
