Date A point or period of time associated with an event in the lifecycle of the resource 2013-11-30 Description An account of the resource Nosocomial infection is a disease caused by a pathogenic agent that is acquired during a patient’s hospitalization or treatment inside another health care facility. The said infection can be caused by microorganisms. These microorganisms may already be present in the patient's body or may come from the environment, contaminated hospital equipment; An intravenous (IV) set used during IV therapy is one example of the possible materials containing these microorganisms. The main purpose of this study is to determine the presence of microorganisms on injections ports of IV sets before and after disinfection whenadministering IV medications in the patients admitted to the medicine wards of Hospital X and Y. Presence of microorganisms despite disinfection may pose risk to patients through the entry of bacteria upon injection through the port. Thirty swab samples were obtained from each hospital. Swab samples were then isolated on nutrient agar plates. Hospital Y samples yielded no bacterial isolates whereas all 30 samples in Hospital X showed bacterial isolates. Swab samples underwent gram-staining to distinguish between gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Streptococcus species and Staphylococcus species which are classified as grampositive bacteria were among the bacterial species identified before and after disinfection and were found on all the samples obtained from Hospital X. Based on the findings of this study, adherence to infection controlprocedures were not well established to reduce or eliminate microorganisms on injection ports in Hospital X that may cause Nosocomial infections. Kemampuan A. actinomycetemcomitans menginvasi jaringan lunak rongga mulut menyebabkan semakin pentingnya penggunaan antibiotik, selain debridemen mekanik, dalam perawatan periodontitis. Potensi tanaman herbal sebagai agen antibakteri alami saat ini telah banyak diteliti. Jintan Hitam (Nigella sativa) merupakan salah satu tanaman herbal yang memiliki potensi antibakteri karena kandungannya berupa alkaloid, saponin, tanin, flavonoid, kuinon, fitosteroid, dan terpenoid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat efek antibakteri Nigella sativa terhadap A. actinomycetemcomitans. Penelitian yang bersifat eksperimental laboratoris ini menggunakan isolat klinis A. actinomycetemcomitans yang diperoleh dari pasien yang didiagnosis mengalami periodontitis agresif generalisata (PAG) di Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Universitas Syiah Kuala dan ekstrak Nigella sativa yang diperoleh dengan proses maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Uji efek antibakteri Nigella sativa terhadap A. actinomycetemcomitans dilakukan dengan metode Standard Plate Count (SPC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengurangan pertumbuhan A. actinomycetemcomitans yang dipapar dengan ekstrak Nigella sativa konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100%. Berdasarkan uji statistik Least Significant Difference (LSD), terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara semua kelompok perlakuan dengan kelompok kontrol positif (Ciprofloxacin) dan kelompok perlakuan konsentrasi 50%, 75%, dan 100% dengan kelompok kontrol negatif (akuades). Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak biji jintan hitam (Nigella sativa) memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap A. actinomycetemcomitans.Kata kunci : Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, periodontitis agresif lokalisata, Nigella sativa. Results concluded that sucking also chewing pest population in chilli was suppressed significantly in plot B and C where natural enemies were released. Reduction in thrips, aphid, mite and whitefly numbers was found due to release of C. carnae, it was 57.31, 70.86, 65.12 and 80% %, respectively. An impact of C. carnae on tobacco caterpillar population was 53.18%. Gram pod borer and tobacco caterpillar population was observed enormously in untreated plots. Reduction in its population in plot C was found owing to release of T. chilonis, it was 74.14 and 89.38 % when compared to untreated plots.
