A number of 5 African’s catfish (Clarias gariepinus) were placed in an aquarium located in Gapang, Sukakarya Sub-district of Sabang Town, Aceh. Their behavior activities were observed manually at three different times (08.00 AM, 01.00 PM, and 05.00 PM) every day from 1st March up to 11th April 2012. The result of observation showed that the activity of catfish was different between all of them from 1st March 2012 up to morning observation on 11th April 2012. Most of those activities was not showed as very active behavior. However, their behavior was very active in the same pattern when observed at noon and afternoon times on 11 April 2012. On this date, there were two consecutive earthquakes happened at magnitude of >8 Richter Scale at 03.38 PM and 05.43 PM. The epicenter of this earthquake was in Simeulue, with the distance of more and less of 390 km from observation station of catfish in Gapang. It was noted that this abnormal behavior possibly showed as an indication of their ability to detect the increase of pre-seismic activity at 2.38 hours and 43 minutes before the two earthquakes. Perhaps, it is the result of their response to the increase of pre-seismic electromagnetic wave. Further continuous observation and research is needed to ensure the role of African’s catfish (Clarias gariepinus) as abio-sensor for the increase of seismic activity. There is no standard model or a method of solution for nurse scheduling. The main objective of this study is to search for a scientific method to prepare a monthly working schedule for a group of nursing officers employed in a hospital. We propose an optimization method to prepare an optimal schedule. Initially, we develop an optimization model by formulating the objective and the constraints of the problem. The optimization model that we are interestedin is a 0-1 Integer Linear Programming problem. We apply the Branch-and-Bound technique to solve the problem using the optimization software package LINGO. Finally, the solution to the optimization problem is formulated to a regular nurse schedule. The methodology is illustrated by preparing a monthly schedule for a private hospital in Sri Lanka. This study represents the first records of amphibians and reptiles of Sungai Enam Basin and an updated record of Belum-Temengor Forest Reserve. In this survey, a total of 27 species of herpetofauna was recorded comprising 12 species of amphibians from four families and 15 species of reptiles from six families. No new records of frog or lizard species are reported in this study. However, three new records of snakes are reported from the area. Sebagai Pembimbing Anggota.RINGKASANReaktor biogas merupakan salah satu solusi teknologi energi untuk mengatasi kesulitan masyarakat akibat kenaikan harga BBM. Secara prinsip pembuatan biogas sangat sederhana, dengan memasukkan substrat (limbah biomassa) ke dalam unit pencerna (digester), ditutup rapat, dan selama periode tertentu biogas akan terbentuk yang selanjutnya dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber energi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari kinerja dari reaktor semi kontinu proses produksi biogas menggunakan co-digesi limbah cair sapi dengan ampas tebu, mengontrol dan mengendalikan limbah peternakan melalui treatment biologi dan menginvestigasi potensi produksi biogas.Alat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu : pH meter, gelas ukur, oven, water bath, furnace dan pompa sirkulasi air. Sedangkan alat yang digunakan untuk pembuatan reaktor biogas adalah pipa, lem, slicer, selang, solatip, dop, kertas pasir dan tutup bak. Bahan yang digunakan adalah limbah cair sapi dan ampas tebu yang sudah dicacah dengan ukuran 20 mesh.Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produksi biogas dari limbah cair sapi dan limbah cair sapi dengan campuran ampas tebu mengalami perbandingan produksi biogas yang cukup jauh dimana rata-rata produksi biogas dari limbah cair sapi adalah 30.2 mL. Sedangkan produksi biogas rata- rata dari limbah cair sapi campuran ampas tebu adalah 337.2 mL. Dengan perbandingan 1:11 untuk produksi biogas antara tanpa campuran dengan menggunakan campuran, dengan demikian sangat baik untuk produksi biogas menggunakan campuran ampas tebu. Perbedaan ini terjadi karena kandungan bahan organik limbah cair sapi tanpa campuran lebih sedikit daripada limbah cair sapi campuran ampas tebu. Pada penelitian menggunakan reaktor anaerobik semi kontinu ini menggunakan suhu 35 0C atau mesophilic yang menggunakan alat Thermostatic waterbath. Untuk menangani permasalahan tersebut, maka dengan menggunakan teknologi pengolahan limbah secara anaerobik semi kontinu dapat menghasilkan biogas dan bisa dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sendiri. Untuk meningkatkan produksi biogas dari limbah kotoran ternak dapat dilakukan penambahan biomasa kulit kakao yang sudah dikeringkan dan dihaluskan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat potensi kulit kakao dalam produksi biogas melalui aplikasi anaerobik digesi dengan limbah cair sapi serta mengevaluasi proses digesi melalui reaktor semi kontinu. Tahapan awal dari penelitian ini adalah merakit alat reaktor semi kontinu dengan volume kerja 3000 mL, mengambil limbah cair sapi dan mempersiapkan bahan biomasa (kulit kakao). Kemudian limbah cair sapid an kulit kakao dimasukkan ke dalam reaktor semi kontinu untuk dilakukan pengolahan anaerobik yang dapat emnghasilkan biogas. Produksi biogas di catat setiap harinya dengan melihat gas yang masuk kedalam gelas ukur dan dilakukan feeding setiap harinya dengan tujuan agar makanan untuk mikroorganisme selalu tersedia. Parameter yang di ukur adalah total solid, volatile solid, chemical oxygen demand, total kjedahl nitrogen, total dissolved solid dan pH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produksi biogas dari limbah cair sapi tanpa campuran dan limbah cair sapi dengan campuran kulit kakao terus mengalami peningkatan setiap harinya selama 25 hari penelitian yang menggunakan reaktor anaerobik semi-kontinu. Hal ini disebabkan oleh suhu yang selalu stabil pada 35 0C (suhu mesophilik) yang dikontrol menggunakan termostat, derajat keasaman (pH) pada kondisi optimal yaitu antara 6,5 sampai dengan 7,5 (dimana kondisi inilah yang sangat bagus dan baik untuk produksi biogas) dan proses feeding yang setiap hari dilakukan. Produksi biogas dari limbah cair sapi tanpa campuran setiap harinya dapat dirata-ratakan sebesar 30,2 mL selama 25 hari penelitian karena kandungan bahan organik dari limbah cair sapi tanpa campuran lebih sedikit.
