<text>(Green antibiotic betel leaf (Piper betle l.) as a substitute for commercial antibiotic in mastitis treatment) ABSTRACT. The present study was carried out to investigate the possible antibacterial activity of betel leaf on the amount and microscopic appearance of mastitis-causing bacteria. The randomized block design with 5 treatment groups were : K group (mastitis milk only as negative control), Ab group (mastitis milk + antibiotic penicillin-dihydrostreptomycin as positive control), S1 group (mastitis milk + 1,25 ml betel leaf water extract), S2 group (mastitis milk+ 2,5 ml betel leaf water extract), and S3 group (mastitis milk + 5 ml betel leaf water extract). The result showed that the amount of bacteria in the betel leaves groups (S1, S2, and S3 groups) were lower (P< 0,05) than that of the control group (K group). Nonetheless the different concentration of betel leaf water extract in the S1, S2 and S3 groups did not affect to the amount of bacteria (P> 0,05). Moreover, this research showed that betel leaf water extract had the same effectiveness with commercial antibiotic penicillin-dihydrostreptomycin to inhibit the growth of bacteria as indicated by the same amount of bacteria (P>0,05) among the betel leaf groups (S1, S2, and S3 groups) and the Ab group. Gram-positive and negative bacteria were seen in the K group. However, only Gram-negative bacteria were visible in the betel leaf groups (S1, S2, and S3 groups) and in the Ab groups, indicating that betel leaf had the same effectiveness as penicillin-dihydrostreptomycin to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria.</text>

<text>The world now is facing two energy related threats which are lack of sustainable, secure and affordable energy supplies and the environmental damage acquired in producing and consuming ever-increasing amount of energy. In the first decade of the twenty-first century, increasing energy prices reminds us that an affordable energy plays an important role in economic growth and human development. To overcome the abovementioned problem, we cannot continue much longer to consume finite reserves of fossil fuels, the use of which contributes to global warming. Preferably, the world should move towards more sustainable energy sources such as wind energy, solar energy and biomass. However, the abovementioned challenges may not be met solely by introduction of sustainable energy forms. We also need to use energy more efficiently. Developing and introducing more efficient energy conversion technologies is therefore important, for fossil fuels as well as renewable fuels. This assignment addresses the question how biomass may be used more efficiently and economically than it is being used today. Wider use of biomass, a clean and renewable feedstock may extend the lifetime of our fossil fuels resources and alleviate global warming problems. Another advantage of using of biomass as a source of energy is to make developed countries less interdependent on oil-exporting countries, and thereby reduce political tension. Furthermore, the economies of agricultural regions growing energy crops benefit as new jobs are created. Keywords: energy, gasification, sustainable, wet biomass</text>

<text>Abstract – Design, operation and planning of water resources, irrigation and water supply systems require estimation of stream flow. A grey system or stochastic approach is required for dealing with the hydrological complexities of mid and long-term stream flow prediction. Generally relatively long period data series of stream flow records is required for the prediction using stochastic methods. In developing countries like India, availability of long period hydrological records is a problem. Grey system theory is applicable in the case of unclear inner relationship, uncertain mechanisms and insufficient information and requires only small samples for parameter estimation. Stream flow records of Bharathapuzha river basin, Kerala, India is subjected to grey analysis. Model parameters were estimated using leastsquares method. Statistical indices for the developed models indicate their ability to predict stream flow in the river under study with reasonable accuracy.</text>

<text>In urban areas, there is not only a heavy reliance on ground water as a primary drinking supply but is also as a supply of water for both agriculture and industrial uses. The reliance on ground water is necessary to ensure that there are significant quantities and high quality of water. Ground water resources at coastal urban forest in Banda Aceh were assessed by using VLF method. VLF techniques measured the perturbations in a plane wave radio signal (15-30 kHz) being emanated from one of several world-widde radio transmitters and was also used for submarine communications. Apparent resistivities and phases were measured along 340 m profile at the area. Two frequencies (27700 and 29000 Hz) were used in this measurement. The data were modeled by using 2D inversion code of Rebocc. The model showed clearly ground-water map of the subsurface. Based on the model, aquifer layers were indicated by low resistivities zones (40 – 400 Ω-m). However, the ground-water resources in the area were dominated with high salinity water at depth under 140 m. Therefore, extended geophysical exploration methods were water aquifer in the area to watering the forest.</text>

<text>Screening of candidate tolerant potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) to drought in vitro from callus was aimed to determine the growth and proline content of potato plants. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Tissue Culture of Dinas Pertanian of North Sumatra Province, Jl Karya Jasa No 6 Gedung Johor Medan, in May 2012 until May 2013. The initial research was callus formation followed byorganogenesis. Then, was treated by PEG, 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm. The result indicated that increased concentration of PEG decreased the amount of leaves and number of internodes. The higher the PEG concentration, the higher the proline content of potato in vitro.</text>

Growing Studies were carried out above 9600 juvenile tiger grouper from two sources namely differing from the sea of 4800 juvenile and 4800 juvenile hatchery from hatching. The design of treament were done by 2x3 with four replications. During the 30 day rearing period, each 5 days is taken sampling total body length (cm) juvenile tiger grouper. The results showed that during the rearing period the value of marine juvenile grouper only high growth in juvenile ate anchovies and tilapia except on day 5 and 30, and could not adapt to the food from the pellet. While in hatchery juvenile tiger grouper had high growth to consume pellets only and could not adapt well to the food of tilapia and except anchovies on day 15th.</text>
