Biomass of agricultural residues are highly potential as ruminant feedstuff. However, it is characterized by high content of indigestible fiber and low nutritive value, due to the strong hydrogen bonds in the lignocelluloses. Biological treatment by using microbes seems to be an alternative, because of the capability, with no pollution problem. An experiment has been conducted to seek for the fungi and yeast which capable to improve the quality of rice straw, rice bran and cassava waste. The trial was done by the technique of in sacco and in vitro, in a completely randomized block design. The variables measure were : dry matter and protein digestibility, protein solubility and nutrient composition of the fermentation product. Based on the all variables measure, the current study concluded that the microbes chosen were : monoculture of T. viride for rice straw, monoculture of A. niger for rice bran and biculture of A luchuensis and S. cereviseae for cassava waste. Salah satu penyebab preeklampsia dari peran prostasiklin dan tromboksan adalah terjadinya iskemia plasenta yang disebabkan oleh anemia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan anemia dengan preeklampsia dan eklampsia pada ibu hamil. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian analitik observasional dengan rancangan cross sectional. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 73 orang, yaitu 44 orang yang didiagnosis preeklampsia dan eklampsia serta 29 orang yang tidak didiagnosis preeklampsia dan eklampsia. Penelitian ini dilakukan di RSUDZA Banda Aceh sejak tanggal 5 Desember 2012 sampai 5 Januari 2013. Despite the range of commercially available oligosaccharides mixtures (mainly fructo and galacto-oligosaccharides), very few studies are focused on the mechanisms behind the prebiotic activity of particular oligosaccharides. Probably this lack is due to the unavailability of well characterized oligosaccharide fractions for prebiotic function assessment. The objectives of this research were to asses the ability of lactic acid bacteria in fermentation of oligosaccharide and as prebiotic (in vitro). Material used was oligosaccharide of purified rumbia fruit extract. Analysis of oligosaccharide as prebiotic was conducted in vitro using lactic acid bacteria. The lactic acid bacteria consisted Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium animalis, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Lactobacillus casei Rhamnosus. The growth media for bacteria was a liquid MRS basic medium where glucose was substituted by oligosaccharide of purified rumbia fruit extract. Incubation was in aerob for Lactobacillus and anaerob for Bifidobacterium in incubator 37oC. The lactic acid bacteria was calculated 24-48 hours during incubation periode. The variables observed were: oligosaccharide component, ability of lactic acid bacteria in fermentation of oligosaccharide, and growth of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium). The result showed that the oligosaccharide component from extract rumbia fruit consisted of: sucrose, stacchiose, and raffinose. The result showed that the oligosaccharide extract rumbia fruit was significantly (P<0.05) the growth of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) and fermentation of oligosaccharide. It is concluded that oligosaccharide of rumbia fruit extract could be used as prebiotic. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data, terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada efektivitas penggunaan alat tulis berwarna dan hitam-putih terhadap memori jangka pendek yakni p = 0.001 (p ? 0.05). The aim of this study was to determine if supplementation of soybean oil in the ration in order to increase conjugated linoleic acid of meat has concurrent effects on carcass characteristics and qualities of thin-tailed sheep. Sheep were fed fermented ricestraws supplemented with 0, 3 and 6% soybean oil. The experimental design used was a Randomized Completely Block Design. Eighteen sheep with initial age of 6-8 months and initial bodyweight of 17.46 ± 1.61 kg were used. The treatments consisted of soybean oil supplementation 0, 3 and 6%. Variables measured were carcass conformation, GR thickness, backfat thickness, subcutaneous fat score, and kidney and pelvic fat score. Result showed that sheep fed ration with 0 % soybean oil produced carcass with carcass conformation score of 8.50 ± 1.05, GR thickness 11.50 ± 1.05 mm, back fat thickness 2.67 ± 0.82 mm, subcutaneus fat score 3.50 ± 0.55 mm, kidney and pelvic fat score 2.00 ± 0.00. Sheep feed ration with 3% soybean oil; carcass conformation score 8.67 ± 1.21, GR thickness 11.67 ± 1.21 mm, back fat thickness 2.83 ± 0.98 mm, subcutaneus fat score 3.50 ± 0.55, kidney and pelvic fat score 1.83 ± 0.4.
