<text>The substitution a part of commercial feed with pollard and duck mix additive on duck carcass physic compositionABSTRACT. The aim of this experiment was to study pollard optimum levels with additive complex mineral vitamin on the carcass physic composition Balinese male duck age 10 weeks, was carried out at Jl. Binginambe, Kediri village, Tabanan Regency. The design which used in this experiment a completely randomized design Those four treatments were ration contain 100% commercial feed (A); ration with 85% commercial feed + 15% pollard + 0,3% duck mix (B); ration with 70% commercial feed + 30% pollard + 0,3% duck mix (C); ration with 55% commercial feed + 45% pollard + 0,3% duck mix (D), respectively. The variables which measured were carcass weight, carcass percent, and carcass physic composition. The result of this experiment showed that the substitution commercial feed with pollard from 15-45% and duck mix were not significant (P >0.05) decrease carcass percent, carcass bone percent than treatment A. Meat percent on treatment B 1.81% non significant (P>0.05) increase than treatment A, but C and D treatments 2.63% and 4.87% significantly increase than treatment A. Subcutan fat on C and D treatments 6.72% and 6.67% significant lower (P <0.05) than treatment A, and D treatment 4.91% significant lower than treatment B. From the result of this experiment can be concluded that substitution pollard from 15%-45% with additive 0.3% duck mix were decrease carcass percent and bone carcass percent, but substitution pollard 30% and 45% can increase meat carcass percent and decrease fat Balinese male duck age 10 weeks.</text>

<text>Evaluation of the potency of agricultural by product as ruminant animal feed in aceh besar regencyABSTRACT. A research to evaluate the potency of agricultural by product as animal feed was conducted in Aceh Besar Regency from June to December 2009. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the availability of local feed from agricultural by product including its production and quality, to calculate animal capacity of ruminant animals by using animal unit (AU) based the production and quality of agricultural by product. This research was carried out by survey method. Data consist of primary and secondary data to calculate the production and quality of agricultural by products in Aceh Besar Regency. The production of agricultural by products was calculated based on dry matter, crude protein and total digestible nutrient. Animal capacity which is calculated based on agricultural by products with the following measurement ; 1 animal unit consumes dry matter with the average of 6,25 kg/day (2.282,25 kg/year), crude protein with average of 0,06 kg/day (240,9 kg/year) and total digestible nutrient with the average of 4,3 kg/day (1.569,5 kg/year).Based on the calculation was found that total of dray matter, crude protein and total digestible nutrient from agricultural by product in Aceh Besar regency was 197.510 ton, 9443,8 ton and 89.167,7 ton respectively. The capacity of ruminant animals fed from agricultural by product in Aceh Besar regency was 87.061 AU, 39.202 AU, and 57.125 AU for dry matter, crude protein and total digestible nutrient respectively. It can be concluded that Aceh Besar regency has a big potency to develop animal production by using agricultural by products. Therefore, agricultural by products in Aceh Besar regency should be used optimally.</text>

<text>The utilization of cassava meal residues as energy source in dairy cows rationABSTRACT. The dairy farmer in the rural village, usually use rice brain and coconut meat kernels as the energy source, although coconut meat kernels is less palatable and too expensive. It is, therefore, important to seek for the other materials which are locally available and inexpensive. An experiment had carried out, using five lactating dairy cows in a Change Over Design as long as five periods. Each period lasted for 21 days, consisted of 14 days preliminary and seven days observation period. The animal function as column and the period as row, so that its 5 x 5 Latin Square. The treatment tested are five substitution levels of coconut meat kernels by cassava meal residues of 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15 percent dry matter ration respectively. The variables measured were : (1) ration digestibility and essential minerals balance; (2) daily milk production and milk composition; (3) rumen fermentation product. Based on the analysis of variance of all variables measured the experiment suggested that cassava meal residues can be used as the energy source to substitute coconut meat kernels in kernels in lactating dairy cattle ration of 5 up to 15 percent dry matter ration, without causing physiological disorder moreover, increases the milk composition.</text>
