Bacterial cellulose is produced from the fermentation process. The purpose of this study was to analysis the effect of cmc, glycerol and fermentation time towards cellulose membrane characteristics. Cellulose membrane made of a combination of coconut water and palm sugar juice as medium fermentation by using Acetobacter xylinum at 2, 4 and 6 days for fermentation time. Cellulose membrane obtained from a mixture of bacterial cellulose, cmc and glycerol. The addition of cmc and glycerol to improve cellulose membrane characteristics and performance. Based on the analysis results obtained the best performance at 4 days of fermentation time with a concentration of 1.5% cmc and 1.5% glycerol. The thickness of the cellulose membrane was almost the same for all samples and does not affect significantly towards the fermentation time for cellulose membrane production. Cellulose membrane has an asymmetric shape based on morphological analysis using SEM. Besides cellulose membrane has a similar pattern to the weight reduction and has the addition of heat resistance of the membrane. Polymeric porous membranes are generally prepared by the phase separation of polymer solution. In this work, we prepared hollow fibre membrane by non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS). Effect of molecular weight of surfactant added on the performance and characteristic of fabricated membrane were investigated. The control PES membrane has the highest contact angle, indicating thelowest hydrophilic. With addition of surfactant Tetronic in the polymer blend hollow fibre membrane, the water contact angle decreased indicates that the membrane surface is more hydrophilic. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images for all of the membrane showed the structure of fibre with finger-like macro voids through the cross-section. The sponge-type of structure in the centre path of original membrane was disappearing with addition of Tetronic. Ultrafiltration experiment results showed that water permeability washighest with addition of Tetronic with lowest molecular weight. The experiment was carried out in a batch stirred reactor at room temperature. The effects of certain parameters, such as concentration of bio-sorbent and contact time, were investigated. The removal increased with contact time and concentration of bio-sorbent. The results showed that the contact time is directly proportional to the sorption capacity and the sorption efficiency. The sorption efficiency of Cr (VI) was highest at 5 grams bio-sorbent, while the sorption capacity of Cr (VI) was highest in bio-sorbent 1 gram under current experimental condition. The optimum removal of Cr (VI) using guava leaves occurred while stirring 30 minutes. This study aimed to determine the Rubella vaccine potency to inhibit Plasmodium berghei merozoite invasion to erythrocyte which evaluated from parasitemia levels, mortality and mice clinical condition. This study conducted in mice injected Rubella vaccine prior injected with P. berghei. There were four groups: A, B and C injected with 500 µl, 2 µl, and 1 µl rubella vaccine respectively. Group D injected with 500 µl sterile aqua, as control group. After 28 days of vaccination all mice injected with 0.2 ml P. berghei. Furthermore, we observed to parasitemia levels, death, and clinical condition of mice to assess Rubella vaccine effectiveness to inhibit merozoite invasion. The results shown Rubella vaccine did not provide significant effect on parasitemia levels. It might Rubella vaccine dose we used under effective dose and less effective of target site. However, our study shown Rubella vaccine provided significant effect on mice mortality (p<0.05). It is probably due to Rubella antigen (213-239 amino acid sequence) and malaria antigen merozoite surface protein (MSP)-119 (sequence amino acid 238) has similar structure, thus it was likely generated cross-immunity. In conclusion, 28 days Rubella vaccination did not provide significant effect on parasitemia levels, however it provided significant effect on mice mortality with infected by P. berghei.
