This research objective was to determine the dosage of vermicompost that could suppres the disease intensity on tobacco (N. tabaccum). The experiment was carried out in the green house of the Department of Plant amd Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, Padjajaran University from July to August 2005. The experiment was arranged in the randomized completely block design using six treatment and four replications. The treatments were the mixture of seedling media and vermicompost at 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3, seedling media with propineb 70%, mixture of soil and bamboo leaf charcoal without vermicompost, and soil layered by bamboo leaf charcoal without vermicompost as control. The result showed that vermicompost mixed into tobacco seedling media could suppres the disease intensity. The dosage of the vermicompost at the ratio of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 suppressed 80,00%; 90,00%, and 92,50% of damping off disease intensity on tobacco respectively. Tomato plants are herbaceous annual plant, having hermaphrodite  flowers and are suitable to be planted in a cold area. Wilt disease is one of the important disease of tomato plants which is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (fol). This disease can cause a great loss to the tomato producing in many regions in the world 20%-30%. A study has been conducted the resistance of several varieties of tomato plants against Fusarium wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici. The tomato varieties observed were Local Aceh, Jelita, Permata, Sakata and Lentana. The results showed that Local Aceh variety and Jelita variety were highly  resistant to Fusarium wilt disease. The other 3 varieties showed a lower level of resistance to the wilt disease compared to those of Local Aceh and Lentana variety. The terrace development for soil and water conservation often experience the failure such as landslide, like some agriculture farm in Sub-District Banjarwangi, regency of Garut. Considering this problem, it is required to conduct research and analysis on slope stability, especially for the slope with bench terrace. Slope stability is determined by the slope morphology, soil physically and mechanical properties. This research aims to determined the slope stability at a farmland made by terrace, and expected to give recommendation for planning water and soil conservation to avoid landslide. This research was to conducted in field, laboratory and with computer simulation. The triaxial test of soil taken I Mulyajaya village, Sub-District of Banjarwangi shows that at the mean density of 1.44 t m-3, the average effective cohesion is 0.15 kgf cm-2 and the average internal friction angel is 20.30 for natural condition. Actual terrace at the landslide location is initially stable (Fs = 1.22) and become unstable (Fs = 0.31) as the soil is nearly saturated with increase of soil water table due to rain. Simulation using the slope design software which is being developed can ease the prediction of soil stability in order to help land utilization planning for soil and water conservation. Volume lalu lintas puncak yang melewati simpang ini cukup tinggi karena terletak pada kawasan perkantoran dan CBD (central business district). Salah satu lengan pendekat pada simpang yaitu pada Jl. Pemancar memiliki lebar yang terlalu kecil, sehingga sering terjadi antrian dan konflik pada lengan ini. Hal ini juga berpengaruh buruk terhadap lengan pendekat lain yang ditandai dengan tingginya angka derajat kejenuhan (DS) yang dihasilkan untuk keseluruhan lengan. Perbaikan terhadap lengan pendekat tidak mungkin dilakukan karena tidak tersedianya lahan. Berdasarkan hal ini, maka dilakukan perbaikan terhadap pengaturan lalu lintas simpang dengan mengubah waktu siklus pada pengaturan sinyal lalu lintas eksisting. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa data volume lalu lintas puncak dan geometri eksisting pada simpang kemudian diolah dengan MKJI 1997. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data, pada kondisi eksisting diperoleh volume puncak sebesar 3228 smp/jam. Hasil perhitungan tingkat kinerja simpang dengan sistem pengaturan sinyal empat fase diperoleh derajat kejenuhan 0,815 dan tundaan rata-rata simpang 43,23 detik/smp. Hasil perhitungan tingkat kinerja simpang dengan sistem pengaturan sinyal empat fase dengan perubahan waktu siklus dari 109 detik menjadi 130 detik diperoleh pengurangan derajat kejenuhan terendah sebesar 7,11 % dan tundaan rata-rata simpang 47,15 detik/smp. Perbaikan juga dilakukan dengan mengubah pengaturan sinyal lalu lintas menjadi tiga fase dengan dan tanpa perubahan waktu siklus. Hasil perhitungan tingkat kinerja simpang dengan sistem pengaturan sinyal tiga fase diperoleh pengurangan derajat kejenuhan terendah sebesar 22,20 % dan tundaan rata-rata simpang 26,81 detik/smp. Hasil perhitungan tingkat kinerja simpang dengan sistem pengaturan sinyal empat fase dengan perubahan waktu siklus dari 76 detik menjadi 82 detik diperoleh pengurangan derajat kejenuhan terendah sebesar 24,04 % dan tundaan rata-rata simpang 27,40 detik/smp. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data, nilai derajat kejenuhan dan tundaan simpang rata-rata yang dihasilkan pada pengaturan sinyal lalu lintas tiga fase mengalami penurunan yang signifikan dibandingkan dengan pengaturan sinyal lalu lintas empat fase.Kata kunci : arus jenuh dasar, derajat kejenuhan, kinerja simpang, simpang bersinyal, tundaan, volume lalu-lintas.
