The objective of this research is to understand the factors determining the farmers in selecting the soybean seed and the farmers’ preference toward soybean.  Research was implemented  at Indrajaya sub district Pidie Regency.  Research method was a survey toward the soybean farmers using a simple random technique, involving total simple  of 40 farmers in the 2010 planting season.  The result of this research indicates that the dominant factors considered by farmers in selecting soybean seed at  Indrajaya sub district  were plan age, growth type, plant’s branching and collapsibility.  The factors at Kota Bakti sub district ware price rate, seed shape, selling easiness, plant collapsibility, growth type and plant habit. This research was conducted in the Province of Aceh. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that affect inflation, the provincial minimum wage, labor supply and labor demand in the Province during the period from 1998 to 2012. The data used in this study is secondary data time series obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of Aceh, Department of Labor and Population Mobility Aceh, Department of Trade and Industry Aceh and Aceh Pertamina. The model used is the model of simultaneous equations by the method of 2SLS (Two Stage Least Square) is used to analyze the function of each equation in this study. The results showed that the provincial minimum wage impact on inflation and the increase in labor supply and the impact on the demand for labor in the province. Economically, the regression results indicate that for each of the variables that affect inflation, the provincial minimum wage, labor supply and demand in the province of Aceh has not been all in accordance with the sign the expected coefficients and variables in each equation only population significant effect on labor supply, whereas the other variables did not significantly affect the endogenous variables. However, simultaneous testing for functionality inflation equation has no real effect, whereas the function of the provincial minimum wage equations, labor supply and labor demand in the province has a real impact. Rawa Tripa is a peat forest area in Nagan Raya Subdistrict, Aceh Province with diverse ecological benefits as well as high content of carbon that plays an important role in minimizing the effect of greenhouse gas on earth. Yet, the preservation of ecosystem in the region is currently threatened due to the reduction of peat land cover area and other environmental damages. One of the causes of the reduction of the total area of the region is the plantation production activity done by several oil-palm plantation companies operating in the area of Rawa Tripa. In relation to the current environmental damages, a number of parties and stakeholders in Aceh Province have taken an initiative to take a joint action to save Rawa Tripa and one of the actions taken is done through a community-based approach. The community-based environmental movement has been regarded as an alternative solution to solve a number of environmental problems. Community approach which is also known as partnership-based approach or community participation in maintaining the natural resource preservation and management. Various constraints founded in supporting the effectiveness of this community-based environmental protection movement are, among other things, the lack of joint commitment to maintain the preservation of this area, and the parties with different interests and paradigm in managing the natural resources in Rawa Tripa. Women headed household empowerment program (Program Pemberdayaan Perempuan Kepala Keluarga – PEKKA)aims to cope and deal with any potential women headed household problems comprehensively through community organizing, in particular, related to class and gender inequalities in the community.  In order to achieve that objective, the strategy of project management of PEKKA focuses on five pillars, which are participatory, flexibility, mentoring and facilitating, sustainability, and decentralized. This study aims to assess the level of empowerment of women headed household after joining the PEKKA program.  The study employs qualitative approach, which is women headed household as a unit analysis.  Data gathering was through primary and secondary sources.  Primary data collected through participatory observation, in-depth interview, and focus group discussion, meanwhile secondary obtained through project related supportive documents.  The process of analysis data was using data reduction, data arrangement and presentation, interpretation, tentative argument and conclusion, and verification.  The study shows that the significance of the program encouragingly contributes to empowering women headed household through improvement of wellbeing, opens access to resources, increase critical awareness, as well as participation and control.  It is to the greater extent connects to the objective of the program. Tsunami Aceh was the most terrific disaster in 40 years. The estimation of total losses were US$ 210 million, concentrated in two main sectors: infrastructure and housing and the productive sector. Agriculture showed the largest share of damage in productive sector, needs more attention to be rehabilitated in order to stimulate economic activity. This research aim to evaluate the progress of agricultural land rehabilitation in providing land to be cultivated by the farmer. Research conducted in Aceh Besar District by using survey methods. Research results showed that 77% of total farmland damaged due to tsunami, but the availability of lowland paddy field after tsunami only reached 16,7% from total farmland before tsunami. There were no significant difference between the rehabilitation processes conducted in low and high level of damaged based on Mann Whitney test. There was a lack of access to the farmland due to a limitation in farmland rehabilitation. This condition will lead to the difficulties of the community to back to their previous activity as a farmer since the majority occupation of affected communities were in agriculture field.
