Sepuluh hibrida tetua pemulih kesuburan dan tiga galur mandul jantan ditanam di lapangan mengunakan rancangan acak kelompok yang diulang 2 kali, perlakuan terdiri dari 43 perlakuan sehingga mendapatkan 86 satuan percobaan dengan perhitungan analisis daya gabung dan analisis heterosis. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap karakter tinggi tanaman, fertilitas malai, panjang malai, hasil per rumpun, bobot 1000 butir, anakan produktif, jumlah gabah isi per rumpun dan jumlah gabah hampa per rumpun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua karakter yang diamati memiliki ragam DGU dan DGK yang nyata. Ekspresi karakter-karakter diatas dikendalikan oleh aksi gen aditif maupun non-aditif. Nilai heterosis pada karakter hasil dan komponen hasil juga bervariasi dari jumlah berkisar 9,17% sampai 70,07% dengan nilai rata-rata 36,02% dari karakter hasil. Production of Soybean on dry land in Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) is still low and its productivity increase moves tardy. From 1989 - 1994 the soybean production was successively: 1,6 ; 1,18 ; 1,18 ; 1,20 and 1,21 tons/ha. Some constraints often met in dry land soybean cultivation are low and varied land fertility, high weed population, low seed quality and unestimated rainfall pattern. Especially for seed, constraint faced by farmer in production center area is unavailability of superior seed. This research was aimed to get superior varieties of Soybean which is adaptive in specific location. This research started from June to September 2004. This research used Non Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design, followed by Duncant Multiple Rank Test. Treatment factors were five varieties of Soybean, consisting of Kaba, Merbabu, Mahameru, Sinabung and Pangrango. Observation of adaptability was based on variablity of growth and production component. Results of research showed that average production which can be reached  were Kaba 1.202,5 kgs/ha, Mahameru 652,5 kgs/ha, Merbabu 1.787,5 kgs/ha, Pangrango 1.219 kgs/ha and Sinabung 1.660,6 kgs/ha. Daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum Wight.) mengandung beberapa senyawa yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa pengaruh konsentrasi optimum dari ekstrak metanol daun salam (S. polyanthum Wight.) yang memiliki senyawa antibakteri yang dibuktikan dengan adanya zona bening untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri K. pneumonia isolat klinis. Jenis penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Rancangan penelitian ini terdiri dari 6 perlakuan dan 4 pengulangan, yaitu 4 variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun salam 35%, 50%, 65%, dan 80% dan 2 kontrol (kontrol positif menggunakan antibiotik ciprofloxacin dan kontrol negatif menggunakan pelarut metanol). Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak metanol daun salam memiliki pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan K. pneumonia yang ditandai dengan terbentuknya zona hambat yang diameter rata-rata 11,5 mm pada konsentrasi 35%, 12,5 mm pada konsentrasi50%, 8 mm pada konsentrasi 65%, dan 10,7 mm pada konsentrasi 80%. Kontrol positif ciprofloxacin memiliki diameter yang lebih besar 25 mm. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Uji Normalitas, dilanjutkan dengan ANAVA (Analisis Varian) dan Uji Jarak Ganda Duncan (UJGD). Pada beberapa dekade terakhir, penelitian tentang obat herbal berkembang pesat. Buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) merupakan salah satu obat herbal yang memiliki efek antibakteri disebabkan karena kandungan zat bioaktif berupa alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, kuinon, dan triterpenoid serta diperkuat oleh asam organik yang tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) terhadap A. actinomycetemcomitans. Penelitian yang bersifat eksperimental laboratoris ini menggunakan isolat klinis A. actinomycetemcomitans berasal dari FKH Universitas Gajah Mada, Jogjakarta dan ekstrak buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) yang diperoleh dengan proses maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Uji aktivitas antibakteri buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi)terhadap A. actinomycetemcomitans dilakukan dengan metode Standard Plate Count (SPC).Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak adanya pertumbuhan A. actinomycetemcomitans yang dipapar dengan ekstrak buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) pada konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100%. Konsentrasi Bunuh Minimum (KBM) dari penelitian ini adalah konsentrasi 25%, Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) tidak ada. Berdasarkan uji statistik Mann-Whitney, terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna dari setiap konsentrasi ekstrak dengan kelompok kontrol negatif dan tidak ada perbedaan yang bermakna antara setiap kelompok ekstrak dengan kontrol positif. The objective of this study is to know the antibacterial activity of bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi) against A. actinomycetemcomitans. This experimental laboratories research was using clinical isolate of A. actinomycetemcomitans fromVeterinary Faculty Gajah Mada University, Yogjakarta and bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi)extract which was maserated with 96% ethanol solvent. Antibacterial activity ofbilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi)against A. actinomycetemcomitans was evaluated byStandard Plate Count (SPC) method. The result showed the absence ofA. actinomycetemcomitansgrowth at the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% concentration of extract. Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) at 25% consentration, without Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). Based on Mann-Whitney statistical test,the significant differences were shown between all concentration of bilimbi fruit(Averrhoa bilimbi)extract compared to negative control (Aquades) group and the significant differences were not shown between all concentration of bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi)extract compared to positive control (Ciprofloxacin)group. Bawang putih merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang sudah diketahui memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Bawang putih mengandung allicin, alkaloid, terpenoid dan tanin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol bawang putih terhadap pertumbuhan pan drugs resistant Acinetobacter baumannii isolat klinis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan metode difusi cakram. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan 4 kelompok perlakuan (terdiri dari ekstrak etanol bawang putih konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60% dan 80%) dan kelompok kontrol negatif (terdiri dari aquades steril). Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan ekstrak etanol bawang putih memiliki antivitas antibakteri dengan berbagai konsentrasi terhadap pan drugs resistant Acinetobacter buamannii. Setiap konsentrasi menunjukkan diameter daya hambat rata-rata berturut-turut sebesar 12 mm, 12 mm, 14,4 mm dan 16,4 mm dengan konsentrasi paling efektif adalah 80%. Hasil analisis statistik didapatkan nilai p < 0,05 yang menandakan bahwa ekstrak etanol bawang putih memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang bermakna dalam menghambat pertumbuhan pan drugs resistant Acinetobacter baumanii. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) adalah S. aureus yang resisten terhadap antibiotik ?-laktam. Resistensi bakteri yang terjadi menuntut penemuan dan pengembangan bahan alam sebagai antibakteri. Salah satu bahan alam yang dapat dijadikan sebagai antibakteri adalah tanaman pare (Momordica charantia Descourt). Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol buah pare (Momordica charantia Descourt) terhadap MRSA. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 6 kelompok perlakuan ekstrak etanol buah pare dengan konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% dan kontrol negatif menggunakan carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) 1%. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan menggunakan metode difusi cakram Kirby-Bauer. Analisis data menggunakan metode Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Beda Nyata Terkecil/BNT (p < 0,05). Hasil uji ekstrak etanol buah pare dengan konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% dan 100% menunjukkan diameter zona hambat rata-rata 7,6 mm, 9 mm, 9,9 mm, 10,4 mm dan 12 mm terhadap MRSA. Hasil analisis data menggunakan ANOVA menunjukkan ekstrak etanol buah pare memiliki pengaruh yang nyata dalam menghambat pertumbuhan MRSA melalui aktivitas antibakteri. Uji Beda Nyata Terkecil/BNT (p < 0,05) yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol buah pare memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang berbeda nyata antar perlakuan terhadap MRSA. Aktivitas antibakteri mulai tampak pada konsentrasi 20% dan yang paling besar pada konsentrasi 100%.Kata Kunci: Momordica charantia Descourt, aktivitas antibakteri, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
