<text>The present study aimed to determine quality and parameters traits of both fresh and frozen semen in 4-year old Brahman bulls. Semen was collected from 5 bulls twice a week using artificial vagina in Ungaran ArtificialInsemination Center, Central Java, Indonesia. Immediately after collection, samples were evaluated for semen volume, color, odor, viscosity, mass movement, individual movement, spermatozoa concentration and livespermatozoa percentage. Sperm concentration was measured using a spectrophotometer. Good quality fresh semen was processed to be frozen semen. Parameters evaluated for frozen semen include spermatozoa individualmovement, live spermatozoa, and abnormal spermatozoa percentage. The results showed that the semen volume is 6.90 ± 0.54 whereas the average of sperm concentration, individual motility and live sperm are 1754.54 ± 212.67;65.50 ± 3.74% and 76.30 ± 2.64%, respectively. Meanwhile, for frozen semen, the average percentage of motility is 38.00 ± 2.74% while the average proportions of live sperm and abnormal sperm are respectively 45.20 ± 9.86% and 6.00 ± 2.83%. In conclusion, in average, all parameters of fresh and frozen semen of Brahman bulls are in normal range. Based on the Indonesian National Standard, frozen semen produced could be used for insemination</text>

<text>Sugar wastewater can be a serious problem for environment because of highorganic content namely nitrogen concentration. Other problems caused by the waste are unpleasant colour and an inferable smell. The appropriate treatment is needed for solving the problems. The growth of algae in the pool of waste was suggested as the propertreatment for sugar wastewater. The aim of this research was to study the use of Chlorella vulgaris for the treatment of artificial waste water. Chlorella vulgaris was cultured in artificial wastewater having low pH.Pseudomonas putida was used to supply CO2 for photosynthesis process in a lagoon tank and it was added at the second day. Polyacrylate polyalcohol was also introduced to provide buoyancy effect of the medium All of the experiments were conducted in a rectangular tank using the artificial illumination and it wasalso equipped by air pump to supply oxygen and circulate the waste in the tank. pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Optical Density (OD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Total Nitrogen (TN) were measured daily during the experiments. COD was successfully reduced up to 6900 mg/l and 29% of COD removal at the fourth day. The low pH experiments demonstrated the effectiveness of a consortium of algae and bacteria at TN removal from wastewater by reducing the TN from 70 mg/l to below 35 mg/l. According to the above results, it can be concluded that the consortium of Pseudomonas putida and Chlorella vulgaris was applicable as one of alternatives for sugar wastewater treatment</text>

<text>ABSTRACTMuslem, 2014. The Use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) in Teaching Speaking (A Descriptive Study at SMA Negeri 1 Peureulak)Thesis, Graduate Program in English Language Education,State University of Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh.Advisors: (1) Dr. Sofyan A. Gani, M.A (2) Abdul Manan, M.Sc., M.A., Ph.DKeywords: Communicative Language Teaching; SpeakingThe use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) emphasizes on the five characteristics of CLT in which the English teachers should apply them in the process of teaching speaking. The five characteristics of CLT are: focus on communicative function; focus on meaningful tasks rather than on language forms such as grammar and vocabulary; efforts to make tasks and language relevant to a target group of learners through an analysis of genuine, realistic situation; the use of group activities; and the attempt to create a secure, nonthreatening atmosphere and an attempt to link classroom language learning with language activation outside the classroom. These five characteristics of CLT help students improve their speaking ability since they are always engage in communicative interactions with their classmates during the process of learning speaking. This research is aimed to find out how teachers apply the five characteristics of CLT in teaching speaking; find out if teachers have difficulties in using CLT.This study employs a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were three English teachers who teach speaking at classes XI IPA 1, XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 5. The data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The collected data were analyzed by using qualitative data analysis approach. The analysis was conducted through three steps; data reduction, data display and conclusion. The result of this study shows that the English teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Peureulak have applied the five characteristics of CLT. However, they have not used all activities such as group work and role plays in speaking activities. Based on an observation during the process of teaching and learning speaking, the teachers were focusing on communicative function, focusing on meaningful tasks rather than language forms such as grammar and vocabulary, making tasks and language relevant to a target group of learners, using pair work activities and creating a non-threatening atmosphere. On the other hand, not all of the teachers provided enough opportunities for the students to engage in classroom speaking activities and the students were not encouraged to practice speaking outside the classroom. As a result, the students only practiced speaking during the speaking class.ABSTRAKMuslem, 2014. The Use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) in Teaching Speaking (A Descriptive Study at SMA Negeri 1 Peureulak) Thesis, Program Pascasarjana Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh.
