Dregs of coffee grounds is one of abundant and promising activated carbon raw materials. This study was conducted to assess optimization process of activated carbon production from dregs of coffee grounds by using ZnCl2 as an activator. The optimization process is performed by using Response Surface Method to optimize factors that affected quality of the activated carbon using Box-Behnken design. The factors used were carbonation temperature (T) with a level of 400 oC, 500 oC and 600 °C; concentration of ZnCl2 (K) with a level of 30%, 40%, 50%; and mass ratio of ZnCl2 to activated carbon with level of 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1. A second order regression model of iodine absorption of activated carbon was Y = 626,2 - 36,5T + 28,6K - 36,5R + 31,2T2 + 47,1K2 - 0,5R2 - 19,0TK + 15,9TR + 101,5KR. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan sistem pengupahan antara karyawan harian tetap dan buruh harian lepas terletak pada besaran jumlah upah pokok,tunjangan dan jaminan kesehatan bagaimana cara perhitungan upah pokok yang diberikan dari perusahaan, dan komponen upah apa saja yang diterima kedua tenaga kerja tersebut.Upah pokok yang diterima oleh karyawan harian tetap dihitung per bulan dengan jumlah jam kerja 8 jam kerja / hari. Besaran upah untuk karyawan harian tetap adalah sebesar Rp. 1.550.000/bulan. Komponen upah yang diterima oleh karyawan harian tetap adalah upah pokok, premi panen dan premi pemupukan, tunjangan natura, jamsostek dan fasilitas pendukung lainnya. The production of cocoa continues to increase significantly every year. Cocoa Pod husk is a waste product of cocoa beans industry, which is containing pectin with concentration ranged between 2-10%. Pectin extraction is one of the potential researches to increase economic value of cocoa pod husks. This study aimed to determine the effect of extraction time and pH on the characteristics of cocoa pod husk pectin. Pectin was extracted from cocoa pod husks using ammonium oxalate, extraction time (60 and 120 min) and pH (2.6, 3.6 and 4.6). The use of ammonium oxalate produced high yield of pectin ranged from 6.63 to 12.75%, moisture content was 7,36 to 10,77%, methoxyl content was 5.19 to 5.70%, anhydrogalacturonic acid of 59.84 to 63.14%, the esterification degree was 48.43 to 51.43 % and relative viscosity was 40 – 186,6 cP. The extraction time for 60 minutes at pH 3,6 showed a higher yield compared to 120 min at pH 4,6. Keuntungan merupakan tujuan akhir yang diinginkan dari suatu usaha. Keuntungan merupakan selisih antara penerimaan dan biaya yang dikeluarkan. Persediaan bahan baku rotan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pembuatan furniture semakin berkurang atau terbatas keberadaannya. Keberadaan bahan baku yang terbatas secara langsung telah mempengaruhi besarnya biaya produksi yang harus dikeluarkan. Pemasaran memiliki peranan besar bagi suatu perusahaan untuk memperoleh keuntungan. Bagi suatu perusahaan, kegiatan yang merupakan garis depan yang langsung berhubungan dengan konsumen adalah pemasaran. Salah satu kegiatan pemasaran yang langsung berhubungan dengan konsumen dan mempunyai peranan yang cukup besar dalam mengalirkan barang ke konsumen adalah saluran pemasaran. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah furniture yang dihasilkan di UPT Rotan Bambi. Ruang lingkup penelitian ini dibatasi pada masalah keuntungan dan saluran pemasaran dari usaha furniture rotan di UPT Rotan Bambi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh keuntungan UPT Rotan Bambi perbulan adalah Rp 9.931.464. Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C) sebesar 1,13. Return Of Investment di UPT Rotan Bambi adalah 13%. Ada 2 jenis saluran pemasaran yang digunakan di UPT Rotan Bambi untuk memasarkan produk yang dihasilkan, yaitu saluran pemasaran Tipe 1 yaitu langsung dijual kepada konsumen dan saluran pemasaran Tipe 2 yaitu melalui pedagang furniture. Saluran tipe 1 yang digunakan adalah 92,2%, sedangkan saluran tipe 2 yang digunakan adalah 7,8%. Untuk meningkatkan keuntungan di UPT Rotan Bambi, hal yang sangat perlu dilakukan adalah mencari kontrak baru dan meningkatkan kerjasama, tidak hanya dengan pihak sekolah saja, UPT Rotan Bambi harus bekerja sama dengan intansi lain maupun swasta. Aceh people frequently consume this fish in fresh with complicated special recipe, so that the rate consumption of this fish is still low. Therefore, it is important to find the method for preserving this fish to improve its consumption. Liquid smoke can be used as one method to prepare the fish. The purpose of this study is to assess the quality of catfish under the treatments with and without soaking the fish in liquid smoke.Catfish was cleaned and washed, then it was dipped in solution with 2% salt for 30 min. Afterthat, catfish were air-dried for about 1 hour. About 200 ml of liquid smoke was diluted in 9800 ml water. After soaking in solution with 2% liquid smoke for 10min, catfish were dried by using a cabinet dryer which has three layers. The parameters observed were moisture content and sensory analysis. About 25 panelists had evaluated the samples for appearance, flavor, taste, texture, and color.The results showed that the combination process of smoking and drying might maintain the product quality. The moisture contents of all products were still in appropriate amount as required by the Indonesian Standar (SNI).  According to organoleptic test, the smoke-dried catfish was preferred by panelist than the unsmoked-dried one. Therefore, soaking catfish in liquid smoke can be used to improve the taste of the fish. Further study is recommended to evaluate the shelf life of smoke-dried catfish.
