<text>The intertidal shores around Penang Island were surveyed for the distribution of barnacles from 14th November 2011 to 31st January 2012. The sampling was done by using 20 cm x 20 cm transect to count the barnacles. Three replicates were taken for each zonation available of the intertidal areas; i.e. upper, middle, and lower zonations, at every sampling site. From the result, three species were identified, including Euraphia withersi and Chthamalus malayensis from Family Chthamalidae, and Balanus amphitrite amphitrite from Family Balanidae. Chthamalus malayensis was found to be most abundant among the three species with 44.24% of total population; and Tg. Tokong recorded the highest abundance of this species (28.22%). This was followed by Euraphia withersi with 38.77%; which was found to be densely populated at Gelugor (21.92%). Balanus amphitrite amphitritewas least abundant with only 16.99% and mostly found at Gurney Drive (26.24%).The distribution of the three species of barnacles also varied among the sampling locations. Gertak Sanggul recorded the highest relative abundance of all three species of barnacles at 18.01%; while the location with the least relative abundance of barnacles is Queensbay with 0.33%.Based on ‘Non-Supervised Artificial Neural Network’ (ANN), distinct zonation was observed where Chthamalus malayensis was more dominant on the upper zonation; Euraphia withersi on the middle zonation; and Balanus amphitrite amphitrite on the lower zonation. The interaction betweenbarnacles with other barnacles leads to competitive exclusion and niche partitioning which created zonations among the species. Interspecies interaction that brought by predation also played a part in the distribution of barnacles. Apart from that, the distribution was affected by the sampling sites and humanactivities; such as embankment, land reclamation, and residential development.</text>

This study was intended to analyze the diversity, distribution pattern, coverage, composition and structure community of seagrass in Karang Tirta beach. Measurement of distribution aspect was analyzed with line transect method and sample of seagrass collected by using squares plot 0.5 x 0.5 m. Approximately 12 ha total of seagrass was estimated in various areas, such as: intertidal zone of tourism area, people settlement and mangrove zone. Seagrass distribution pattern was grouping category, and it was found 2 of 13 Species from Family Hidrocharitaceae of Indonesian seagrass exist, they were Thalassia hemprichii about 1.59 and Enhalus acoroides about 9.95. They were included into poor seagrass category with coverage ranged between 21.11% for T. hemprichii and 5.66% for E. acoroides. The highest species density was T. hemprichii (309.2 ind/m2) with appearance frequency value 100% and important value 252. The lowest species density was E. acoroides (7.73 ind/m2) with appearance frequency value 33.33% and important value 48. </text>

Each treatment was replicated three times. The results showed that all types of  biochar  have increased in plant height and number of leaves mahoni seedlings significantly at 40, 60, and 80 days after weaning (DAW). Various concentration of Agrodyke fertilizer have affected  considerably on plant height and number of leaves at 40 and 60  days after weaning (DAW) and root length  at 80 days after weaning (DAW). However, there were no significant effects of types of biochar and various concentration of agrodyke fertilizer on  all parameters. Biochar Soil+Charcoal Sawdust (B3) and 75 g of agrodyke fertilizer polibag-1 (A3)  have produced the best growth rate of mahoni seedlings</text>

<text>Dysmenorrhea is a painful syndrome that accompanies the menstrual cycles that may disturb daily activities. Although many drugs are available to reduce dysmenorrheal pain, many women consider its side effects for taking regularly. Although exercise is generally thought to alleviate the dysmenorrhea, thescientific literature display mixed evidence. The aim of the research was to investigate the effect of aerobics on decreasing dysmenorrheal pain of women 20-25 years old.The research used quasi experiment with one group pretest-posttest design using 15 samples who are medical student of Syiah Kuala University. The data was analyzed using paired t-test to differentiate the score of pain before and after the aerobics exercise. The research was conducted from Januari to April 2012. The Average result dysmenorrheal pain scoresusing the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS); pretest (6.26) and posttest (3.26) (P= 0.00). It can be concluded that aerobics may reduce dysmenorrheal pain in women 20-25 years old</text>

The diabetic conditions were made by giving alloxan 75 mg/kg body weight (BW) and the hypoglycemic effects of extract of curry leaves given with various doses.   This study used 24 male mice strain Balb/c in four groups of treatment with six replications, namely the negative control group, the ethanol extract of curry leaf tree 50% mL/10g body weight group, 70% mL/10g body weight group and 90% mL/10g body weight group. The treatment was given orally by using a gastric sonde for 14 days. Blood samples were taken through the sinus caudalis using a scissors. Blood glucose level was measured at 1st , the 8th and the 24th of treatment using blood glucose test strips and Nesco® Multicheck apparatus. Blood glucose data were analyzed by one way ANOVA (Analysis of Variants) and followed by Tuckey test at significance level of 5%. The result showed that treatment of ethanol extract of curry leaves (Murraya koenigii) at various doses significantly affected the decrease on blood glucose levels of mice (Mus musculus) alloxan diabetic.</text>

<text>This study aimed to determine the effect of ethanol extract of leaves bangunbangun (Coleus ambonicus L) antibody titer as humoral immunity and body weight in Wistar strain rats by using the sheep red blood cells (SRBC) as antigen. This study used 24 male white rats were randomly divided into fourtreatment groups consisting of six rats. The first group was given distilled water as a control, the second group was given 500 g / kg ethanol extract bangunbangun (EEC), the third group was given 500 g / kg EEC SRBC, and the fourth group was given distilled water+SRBC. EEC was administered orally every day for thirty days. SRBC administered intraperitoneally of 0.1 ml on day eight and day fifthteen. On day 31, blood was collected by decapitation, and collected in a tube that has been coated with an anticoagulant, and centrifuged to obtain serum. Antibody titers were measured by haemagglutination method. Weight gain is obtained by calculating the difference in initial weight and final weight of research. The data obtained were tabulated and analyzed by ANOVA and LSD test. Results of data analysis showed that administration of EC for 30 days in rats can increase the antibody titer significantly, and administration of EC for 30 days in rats didnt influence the gain of body weight</text>

<text>Pegagan (Centela asiatica [L] Urban) contains alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, triterpenoid and tannin that have antibacterial activity. Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae are most common of bacteria that cause pneumonia. This study conducted t odetermine the effect of ethanol extracts of pegagan in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus and K. pneumoniae that caused pneumonia. The type of this study is a laboratory experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD). Testing of inhibitory growth effect was measured by Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method. The results showed that ethanol extracts of pegagan at 12.5%, 25%, 50% and 75% concentrations formed inhibition zones on the growth of S. aureus, on average respectively of 7.00 mm, 9.20 mm, 13.20 mm, and 14.50 mm, whereas on the growth of K. pneumoniae, it didn’t form any inhibition zone. The results of ANOVA and Duncan (α=1%) tests showed that ethanol extracts of pegagan at all concentrations made a significant difference in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus compared to negative and positive control. The ability of ethanol extracts of pegagan to inhibit the growth of S. aureus at 12.5% and 25% concentrations categorized as no inhibitory growth effect, whereas 50% and 75% concentrations categorized as weak inhibitory growth effect. While the ethanol extracts of pegagan at all concentrations of the tests categorized as no inhibitory growth effect for K. pneumoniae. It can be concluded that ethanol extracts of pegagan inhibit the growth of S. aureus, but do not inhibit the growth of K. pneumoniae.</text>

<text>THE EFFECT OF EXCHANGE RATE AND INTEREST RATE ONINVESTMENT IN ACEH PROVINCEBy. Maria UlfahSupervisors : Prof. Dr. Mohd. Nur Syechalad, MSProf. Dr. Abubakar HamzahABSTRACTInvestment is an important factor in a country or region in order to improve itseconomy. Investment will increase public spending which will result in far-reachingeffects. Investment in Aceh province is the lowest level in Indonesia. Not only in smallquantities, but also fluctuated over years. Especially, when it is compared to thenational investment from 1984 to 2010. The average of Aceh investment province isonly 2 % of the total Aceh GRDP. This study attempts to show the relationship and theeffect of exchange rates and interest rates on investment in Aceh Province also theinfluence of the previous year's investment in current investments. Investigating therelationship and influence between the variables, the Ordinary Least Square (OLS)and autoregressive methods is used in this study. The study has shown that theexchange rates has a little effect on investment in Aceh Province, while interest ratehas no effect on investment in Aceh Province. This situation occurs (especially in Acehprovince) because of the ongoing conflict. It is expected that the study will befollowed by a more focused research again to overcome the limitations of this study.Keyword : Investment, Exchange Rate, Interest Rate</text>
