These energy reduction techniques include hardware aspects such as the use of the minimum system, peripherals power supply control and software such as sleep-mode. When the intensity of sun light increases, the interrupt pin will activate the system, otherwise the system is in a state of sleep-mode. The electrical energy consumption of the data logger is continuously observed and recorded on an external memory (SD card) in real-time as so the 24 hours energy consumption can be known and the long-term-used energy can be predicted. Based on the results of measurements and calculations it is known that it takes energy of 8.23 Wh to turn the data logger for 24hours. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sejak April – Mei 2006 di Desa Tajau Pecah dan Bumi Asih, Kecamatan Batu Ampar, Kabupaten Tanah Laut Kalimantan Selatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keragaman teknis alat pemipil corn-seller cukup baik dilihat dari hasil pengukuran yang diperoleh yakni kadar air biji <22%, biji utuh 93,45%, butir pecah 5,5% dan kotoran 4,5%. Hasil pengukuran kadar air pada 8 bed dryer antara 14.32 – 16.32% dengan kondisi biji baik tertinggi 88,56% dan terendah 80,05%. Penggunaan alat pemipil corn-seller pada tingkat jasa pemipil (upah) Rp. 35/kg didapat dengan biaya pokok alat Rp. 17,38/kg, sedangkan upah pengeringan (bed dryer) adalah Rp. 120/kg, biaya pokok alat yang diperoleh sebesar Rp. 114,15/kg. Titik impas untuk corn-seller 276 ton/tahun dan bed dryer 215,94 ton/tahun, net present value (NPV) corn-seller sebesar Rp. 8.617.843,00. Berdasarkan analisis financial, biaya pokok dan NPV, corn-seller lebih layak dan menguntungkan sedangkan bed dryer belum layak dilihat dari B/C ration 0,95.Technology of Post Harvest Machinery as Supported Component of Maize Farming on Upland in South KalimantanABSTRACT. The machinery post harvest technology research was to examine the performance of corn sheller and bed dryer and those product quality to increase farmer income. The research was conducted in April till May 2006 at Tajau Pecah and Bumi Asih villages, Batu Ampar District, Tanah Laut regency, South Kalimantan. The result showed that at both of villages, farmer carried out their harvesting with : picked up (removed peel)-carried away-sheller-sold (dry weight). This activity had high percentage than if sold in fresh. Maize grain with <22% of water content, produce intact grain 93.45%, broken grain 5.55% and impurity as 4.5%. Measuring of water content as 14.32-16.34% on eight bed dryer indicated good grain condition as 88.56% for the highest and 80.05% for the lowest. The cost of utilizing corn-sheller at sheller leasing was Rp. 35/kg with prime cost as Rp. 114.15/kg. The break even point of corn sheller and bed dryer were 276 t/ha and 215.94 t/ha. The net present value (NPV) of corn sheller was Rp. 8,617,843. According of financial analysis, prime cost and NPV of corn sheller was more feasible and profitable than bed dryer (with B/C ratio 0.95). Pengaruh suhu merupakan hal yang penting dalam mengamati hasil interaksi serangga inang dengan parasitoid, terutama dalam menentukan tingkat keberhasilan perkembangan parasotoid tersebut. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh perubahan suhu terhadap interaksi inang dan parasitoid, telah dilakukan penelitian di laboratorium terhadap parasitoid Venturia canescens (Gravenhorst) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) dan inangnya, Plodia interpunctella (Hubner) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). Gradien suhu 28-240C; 28-260C;  dan 28-280C digunakan dalam suatu sistem terdiri dari instar V P. interpunctella yang telah diparasit oleh V. canescens. Penggunaan gradient suhu yang berbeda dalam penelitian ini berarti perubahan suhu dari 280C, dimana serangga parasitoid dibiakkan sebelumnya ke suhu yang lebuih rendah, yaitu 24 dan 260C. Serangga inang yang digunakan dalam percobaan ini merupakan biakkan yang telah mapan pada suhu rendah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa begaian inang yang terparasit berhasil menjadi imago parasitoid V. canescens. Gradien suhu yang berbeda tidak berpengaruh terhadap jumlah imago parasitoid yang muncul dan tingkat enkapsulasi. Waktu perkembangan yang dibutuhkan parasitoid meningkat secara signifikan dengan menurunnya gradient suhu. Dibutuhkan waktu 26,76 hari dan 22,96 hari bagi parasitoid untuk berkembang pada gradient suhu 28-240C dan 28-260C, dibandingkan hanya 21,20 hari pada suhu konstan 28-280C. Perubahan suhu dari 28 ke 240C, dan dari 28 ke 260C meningkatkan tubuh parasitoid sampai 1,54 dan 1,52 mm, dibandingkan dengan 1,47 mm pada suhu 28-280C. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa parasitoid V. canescens dapat berkembang dengan baik pada gradient suhu yang lebih rendah selama interaksi dengan inang P. interpunctella, mengikuti serangga inang yang terlebih dahulu sudah mapan pada suhu rendah yang sama. However,  we lost about  20,000 people by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake tsunami.  It makes clear that we never rescue the people from the tsunami only by an early warming syste. In February 2004, a research team of Nagoya University was coming to Banda Aceh to investigate the disaster on th 2004 Sumatra earthquake tsunami (I was a research member of Nagoya University  at the 2004 Sumatra earthquake, and joint the research team  since the first field survey in 2012). Not only the natural scientists but also the humanities’ scientists, including Indonesians join the research team, and field researches in Aceh have been continued every year until now. As results of the research, eight annual reports totally to 1,000 pages and four books, including writings in Indonesia are published. Through the first interviews in Banda Aceh, we understand that not so many peo- ple remained the tsunami coming after the earthquake felt, and when they watched the tsunami they never shouted ”Tsunami!”. They shouted out,”Sea is ascending”. As re- sults, there are many fatalities by the tsunami along the coastlines.They had no time to evacuate from the tsunami, because they started the evacuation after they watched the attacking tsunami. In one village, only the people going out the village to the down-town were saving their lives.
