The objective of the present study was to evaluate the distribution of sediments in the estuary of Kuala Gigieng. The study was done on Mei to June 2011 and the sampling was conducted in three areas of estuary i.e. downestuarine, middle-estuarine and river section of Kuala Gigieng. The wet sieving analysis method was used in this study. The data was then weighed and the percentage was calculated and classified based on the Wentworth scale. The results showed that (1) the mean grain size of sediment of each area was 0.50 mm, 0.65 mm and 0.56 mm and the characteristically, the sediment distribution was consisted of medium sand 63.42%, fine sand 23.40%, coarse sand 5.59%, very fine sand-mud 4.13% and pebble 0.17%. The currents speed were 0.25 m/s, 0.23 m/s and 0.19 m/s. The current speed has influenced the sediment distribution where small grains were mostly found at higher current speed. Key words. Pengeringan secara alami dibawah sinar matahari membutuhkan waktu yang sangat lama dan higienis produk juga menjadi kendala karena biasaya penjemuran dilakukan di lahan terbuka, yang hanya dilapisi plastik atau terpal, lantai semen, bahkan ada yang langsung melakukan penjemuran di tanah terbuka tanpa menggunakan alas sehingga mudah terkena kotoran-kotoran seperti binatang, serangga, tanah ataupun krikil. Dengan menggunakan konveksi alamiah waktu yang dibutuhkan utuk proses pengeringngan yaitu 12-20 jam. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah konveksi paksa dengan 3 variasi kecepatan udara yang bertujuan untuk mempercepat proses pengeringan.pengujianmenggunakankecepatanudara3,15 m/s dengantemperatur rata-rata 60? dapat mengurangi kadar air sebanyak 31 % selama 4 jam dari nilai kadar air awal 42 % menghabiskan bahan bakar sebanyak 1,2kg, pengujian ke dua dengan kecepatanudara 3,75 m/s dengantemperatur rata-reata 60? dapat mengurangi kadar air sebanyak 33 % selama 4 jam, dari nilai kadar air awal 42 % menghabiskan bahan bakar sebanyak 1,3kg dan Pada pengujian 3 menggunakan kecepatan fan 4,03 m/s dengan temperatur rata-rata 60? selama 4 jam dapat mengurangi kadar air sebanyak 36 % nilai kadar air awal 42 % menghabiskan bahan bakar 1,5kg.Semakin cepat kecepatan udara semakin cepat pula proses pengeringan atau penurunan kadar air biji kopi. Untuk menghasilkan kadar air sesuai setandar Indonesia 12% pada proses pengeringan dengan menggunakan kecepatan udara 4,03 m/s membutuhkan waktu sekitar 3 jam. Metode yang digunakan adalah geolistrik resistivitas 2D konfigurasi pole-dipole, dengan alat Terameter ABEM SAS 4000 yang memiliki 2 (dua) elektroda arus dan 32 (tiga puluh dua) elektroda potensial. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa terdapat lapisan yang konduktif dan resistif dengan nilai resistivitas antara 1-70 ?m. Untuk lapisan bagian atas (top layer) dengan nilai resistivitas 1-50 ?m di interpretasi sebagai lapisan lempung (marin alluvium dan colluviums). Pada lapisan bagian tengah (medium layer) untuk nilai resistivitas antar 50-70 ?m di interpretasi sebagai medium lapisan keras (hard layer), dan bagian bawah (bottom layer) juga didapat nilai resistivitas yang relatif rendah yang juga di interpretasi sebagai lapisan lempung (marin alluvium dan colluviums). Dari hasil tersebut dapat dibuat sketsa model bentuk dan dimensi benteng Kuta Lubok sebelumnya.
