Cat tembok emulsi telah dibuat dari campuran bahan pengisi, bahan pengikat, pigmen, pelarut, dan bahan tambahan lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari apakah cat tembok emulsi dapat dihasilkan dari kapur atau tidak dan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi CaO sebagai filler, dan konsentrasi polivinil asetat (PVA) sebagai binder terhadap kualitas cat tembok emulsi yang dihasilkan. Prosedur penelitian dan analisis mutu produk mengacu pada SNI 3564:2009 tentang cat tembok emulsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kapur dapat digunakan dalam membuat cat tembok emulsi. Baik konsentrasi PVA dan konsentrasi CaO yang divariasikan mempengaruhi semua parameter kualitas cat sebagaimana ditetapkan dalam SNI 3564:2009. Hasil optimum penelitian diperoleh pada perlakuan konsentrasi PVA 20% dan konsentrasi CaO 26% yaitu masing-masing untuk padatan total cat sebesar 76,43%, waktu kering cat 36,00 menit, daya sebar cat 8,4 m2/kg, viskositas cat 110,99 KU, sedangkan daya tutup cat sebesar 8,20 m2/L pada konsentrasi CaO 24%. The optimum conditions for the formation of biodegradble plastic and the effect of starch-chitosan formulation on mechanical properties of the biodegradable plastic were studied. The experiments were conducted by varying concentration sorbitol as plasticizer (i.e. 20%, 25%, 30%, and 40% dry weight), ratio starch to chitosan (i.e. 6:4, 7:3, 8:2, 9:1, 10:0 g/g) and at ranging gelatinuous temperature of 65-95oC. The results showed that the optimum conditions were obtained at starch:chitosan mass comparison of 7:3 and sorbitol concentration of 20%. Dalam penelitian ini, pembuatan pupuk kalium sulfat dari bahan baku batuan gipsum alam sebagai sumber sulfat dan abu sekam padi sebagai sumber kalium telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji kemungkinan pembuatan pupuk kalium sulfat dari gipsum alam dan abu sekam padi dan juga mengetahui pengaruh kecepatan pengadukan, temperatur operasi dan waktu proses terhadap persentase konversi kalium sulfat yang dihasilkan. Dalam penelitian ini juga dipelajari kinetika reaksi yang terjadi selama proses pembentukan kalium sulfat. Proses pembuatan pupuk kalium sulfat dilakukan dalam reaktor tangki berpengaduk. Varibel berubah dari penelitian ini adalah kecepatan putaran pengaduk, temperatur proses, dan waktu reaksi. Untuk menganalisis produk yang dihasilkan, metode yang digunakan mengacu pada Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI 02-2809-2005). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pupuk kalium sulfat dapat dihasilkan dari reaksi antara gipsum yang mengandung kalsium sulfat dan abu sekam padi yang mengandung kalium karbonat dengan konversi kalium dari endapan sebesar 99,87% dan konversi kalium dari filtrat sebanyak 18,22%. Nilai konversi sulfat dari endapan hanya sebesar 0,69% dan nilai konversi sulfat dari filtrat 0,26%.Dalam penelitian ini kondisi terbaikproses pembuatan pupuk kalium sulfat adalah pada waktu reaksi 80 menit, kecepatan putaran pengaduk 400 rpm dan temperatur operasi 90ºC. Hasil analisis juga menunjukkan bahwa produk pupuk kalium sulfat tidak mengandung asam bebas sebagai H2SO4 dan klorida (Cl), akan tetapi mengandung kalium dan sulfat. Nilai konstanta kecepatan reaksi (k) yang didapat dalam penelitian ini adalah sebesar 0,00218 ppm-1 menit-1 dan nilai laju pengurangan reaktan (rA) sebesar 8,129 x 10-5 ppm/menit. Umumnya identifikasi yang dilakukan mengacu pada proses segmentasi tiap karakter dari citra plat. Makalah ini mengajukan suatu metode identifikasi plat yang sederhana tanpa melakukan pengenalan melainkan langsung pada proses pencocokan yang berbasis Phase Only Correlation (POC). POC mencocokkan plat dengan mengorelasikan fasa dari dua  citra plat. Fasa diperoleh dengan mengubah citra dari domain spasial menjadi domain frekuensi menggunakan Transformasi Fourier Waktu Diskrit (TFWD). Nilai puncak POC akan tinggi jika citra plat yang dicocokkan adalah citra yang berasal dari plat yang sama. Sebaliknya akan rendah jika yang dicocokkan berasal dari plat yang berbeda. Hasil simulasi menggunakan 20 citra plat menunjukkan bahwa metode POC dapat digunakan dalam pencocokan citra plat. Parameter kesejahteran hewan yang diamati adalah luas kandang individu anjing, jenis kandang, dan desain kandang. Luas kandang dibandingkan dengan ukuran luas kandang yang direkomendasikan oleh undang- undang kesejahteraan hewan Selandia Baru. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengamatan langsung dan wawancara untuk mengisi kuisioner. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa kandang anjing pemburu di Kecamatan Kupitan adalah 42,5% dikategorikan sempit, 37,6% dikategorikan sedang, dan 20% dikategorikan luas. Jenis kandang, 100% merupakan kandang individu tanpa area bermain, untuk desain kandang 97,5% merupakan kandang individu dan 2,5% merupakan kandang kelompok. Kesejahteraan hewan yang diamati dari luas kandang adalah cukup. A PRELIMINARY STUDY ANIMAL WELFARE STATUS OF HUNTERING DOG IN DISTRICT KUPITAN PROVINCE OF WEST SUMATERAABSTRACTThis study was conducted to obtain the informations about animal welfare status of huntering dog in Kupitan District of Province of West Sumatera. The animal welfare status was observed related to size of cage, type of cage and design of cage. The parametre collected were compared the cage recommended by New Zealand animal welfare legislation. Methodology used to determine the size of the cage were conducted by direct measurement and by quessionire that given to owner. The result of this study showed that the cage of huntering dog in the Kupitan district was 42,4 % categorized as small, 37,6% categorized as moderate, and 20% categorized as large. For type of cage, 100 % categorized as individual cage without play area, related to design of cage was 97,5% as individual cage and 2,5 % as group cage. From there studies, conclated that animal welfare status of huntering dog could be categorized as adequate. The purpose of this research was to examine the sediment grains size in Lake Laut Tawar. This research was done during Mei to June 2012. Five sampling stationse were determined  i.e. Toweran, Bintang, Klitu, Boom and Ujung Mumpar. Dry sieving analysis method was used in this study with different diameter stage sediment sieve  such as 4.75 mm, 1.7 mm, 250 µm,  850 µm, 150 µm, 0.2 µm, and 0.063 µm. The data was then weighed and calculated for percentages. The results showed that the sediment in Toweran station was dominated by pebble and medium sand; in Bintang station was dominated by pebble and coarse sand; in Klitu station was dominated by pebble and medium sand; in Boom station was dominated of colloid and remaining shells; and in Ujung Mumpar station was dominated of pebble and coarse sand. Lokasi sampling terbagi menajdi beberapa stasiun;  Stasiun Toweran, Bintang, Klitu, Boom dan Ujung Mumpar. Sampel sedimen disaring dengan ayakan bertingkat dengan diameter  4,75 mm, 1,7 mm, 250 µm,  850 µm, 150 µm, 0,2 µm, 0,063 µm. Persentase berat fraksi sedimen dihitung berdasarkan saringan sedimen bertingkat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sedimen di Stasiun Toweran dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sedang, di Stasiun Bintang dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sangat kasar, di Stasiun Klitu dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sedang, di Stasiun Boom dominan koloid yang diikuti sisa kerang-kerangan dan di Stasiun Ujung Mumpar dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sangat kasar. Pusat-pusat pembangkit tenaga listrik berada jauh dari pusat beban, hal ini mengakibatkan kerugian yang cukup besar dalam penyaluran daya listrik. Kerugian tersebut bisa disebabkan oleh saluran yang cukup panjang. Sehingga, dalam penyaluran daya listrik melalui transmisi maupun distribusi, akan mengalami jatuh tegangan ( voltage drop) sepanjang saluran yang dilalui. Jatuh tegangan ini akan berbeda pada setiap penyulang, tergantung dari besar pemakaian dan luas daerah pelayanan dari masing-masing penyulang. Pada penelitian ini peneliti mengesampingkan beberapa faktor pokok seperti masalah tata letak, syarat pemasangan dan peletakan gardu, biaya yang akan dikeluarkan dan juga efisiensi baik tempat maupun ekonomis pembangunannya. Dari hasi perhitungan pada penyulang Ulee Lheue Jatuh tegangan terjadi pada 4 gardu yaitu ULL 49.00, ULL 51.00, ULL 56.00 dan ULL 57.00 Dari ke empat jatuh tegangan yang paling besar terjadi pada gardu ULL 57.00 yaitu sebesar 5,318% dan setelah di lakukan perbaikan evaluasi jarak gardu yang jatuh tegangan lebih 5% terjadi perubahan yang cukup besar pada gardu ULL 57.00 yaitu sebesar 2,71 Km. Groupers are of considerable economic value in southeast Asia.  Cage culture is considered as the proper technology to maximize the sustainable biomass production in a unit area. This research assesses a site selection approach for net-cage grouper mariculture in the eastern coastal area of Simeulue Island, namely Sambai, Kuta Batu and Pulau Bengkalak. Data collection focused on 7 biophysical site capability parameters i.e.: current flow, temperature, water clarity, bottom depth, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen. Kerapu merupakan komoditas unggulan dan memiliki permintaan pasar yang tinggi di daerah Asia Tenggara. Keramba jaring apung (KJA) dianggap sebagai teknologi yang tepat untuk meningkatkan biomassa budidaya di suatu wilayah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kesesuaian lokasi penempatan KJA di wilayah pesisir timur Pulau Simeulue yaitu Sambai, Kuta Batu dan Pulau Bengkalak. Kajian data difokuskan pada tujuh parameter biofisik yaitu arus, suhu, kecerahan, kedalaman perairan, pH, salinitas, dan oksigen terlarut.
