                <text>Comparation of Interception Loss on Mahoni (Swietania mahagoni) and Pinus (Casuarina cunninghamia)ABSTRACT. Interception of rain is the retention of rainwater on surface vegetation before it evaporates back into the atmosphere. Research relating to the interception is still lacking, so it is necessary to study the interception on some types of plants. Although the interception had a little value, and sometimes overlooked, but in some plants have a considerable effect. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of interception in Mahogany and Pine trees, as well as to determine the relationship between rainfall and interception. In this study, samples taken at the Mahogany and Pine trees by the number of 3 samples of each tree. There were two approaches to measure the amount of interception, the first approach was the Volume Balance Approach and the second approach was the Energy Balance Approach. In this study, the volume balance approach, with measurements of rainfall, throughfall, stemflow and interception for ten days of rainfall. The average amount of interception Mahogany obtained 15.5 mm (7.31%) of the total amount of rainfall and the correlation coefficient (r) was at 0.554. While the average number of interception Pinus acquired 87.23 mm (41.15%) of the total amount of rainfall and the correlation coefficient (r) was at 0.505. The size of the interception was influenced by wind speed, density and canopy shape. The research obtained that the interception for pine trees was higher than Mahogany trees. The results also showed that the higher percentage of rainfall, the smaller interception. This was due to the canopy conditions and climatic factors.  </text>

                <text>Abstrak. Lengkuas (Alpinia galanga) adalah salah satu tanaman penting bagi masyarakat Indonesia. Tanaman ini dapat digunakan untuk bumbu masakan dan obat herbal. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menduga umur simpan lengkuas segar dengan menggunakan model Arrhenius. Lengkuas segar yang baru dipanen dibersihkan dan dipotong-potong dengan ukuran 2cm, kemudian disimpan pada suhu 5, 10 dan 28°C. Evaluasi dilakukan oleh 25 orang panelis dengan menggunakan skala hedonic dari sangat suka sampai sangat tidak suka terhadap warna, kesegaran, aroma dan tekstur. Parameter yang diamati adalah kadar air dan kadar sari larut dalam air. Parameter tersebut diamati dalam interval 3 hari selama 21 hari atau sampai sampel dinyatakan tidak disukai oleh panelis pada salah satu kriteria hedoniknya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pad asuhu 28°C, lengkuas dapat disimpan selama 3 hari, sedangkan pada suhu 10 dan 5°C, lengkuas dapat disimpan selama 12 dan 21 hari. Energi aktivasi (EA) dan tingkat perubahan mutu (Q10) karena kadar sari larut dalam air lebih besar dari energi aktivasi (EA) dan tingkat perubahan mutu (Q10) karena kadar air lengkuas. Namun demikian, kedua parameter tersebut tidak tepat digunakan untuk menduga umur simpan lengkuas. Shelf-Life Prediction of Galanga by Using Arrhenius Model Based on Its Moisture and Water Soluble Extract Content Abstract. Galanga (Alpinia galanga) is one of important plants for Indonesian people. It can be used as spices and also as herbal medicine. The aim of this study is to predict the shelf-life of fresh galanga by using Arrhenius model. Fresh harvested galanga, which was cleaned and chopped at width about 2 cm, was stored at temperatures 5, 10, and 28°C. The evaluation was done by 25 respondents by using hedonic scale from the range of like very much until dislike very much. This hedonic evaluation was assessed, based on colour, freshness, aroma, and texture. Parameters observed were moisture and water soluble extract content. These parameters observed at interval 3 days for 21 days or until the samples were rejected by respondents for at least one of hedonic factors. Results showed that at temperature 28°C, galangal can be stored for 3 days. However, at temperature 10 and 5 °C, galangal can be stored for 12 and 21 days, respectively. The energy act ivation (EA) and the rate of quality change (Q10) due to water soluble extract were higher than those of water content. Nevertheless, these two parameters cannot be used in prediction the shelf-life of fresh galanga.</text>

                <text>RINGKASANDaerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Krueng Aceh yang merupakan suatu DAS yang tergolong dalam DAS prioritas I yang berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Kehutanan No.328 Tahun 2009. Dengan meningkatnya kegiatan pembangunan di DAS Krueng Aceh khususnya pembangunan di bagian hulu DAS secara signifikan telah memberi dampak negatif terhadap fungsi utama DAS Krueng Aceh sebagai suatu unit yang menampung, menyimpan dan mengalirkan kembali air yang berasal dari curah hujan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kualitas air DAS Krueng Aceh yang mencakup sifat fisik dan sifat kimia air untuk keperluan penggunaan air pada bidang pertanian.Metode dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengambilan sampel air sebanyak tiga kali, yaitu di bagian hulu, hilir dan tengan Krueng Aceh. Pengambilan sampel air dilakukan di hari yang sama, pada bagian hulu sampel di ambil pada waktu pagi hari, sampel di bagian tengah di ambil pada saat siang hari dan sampel di bagian hilir di ambil pada saat sore hari. Pada penelitian ini sampel air di ambil pada saat tidak di musim penghujan dimana untuk menghindari terjadinya pengenceran pada air sungai sehingga bila terjadinya pengenceran kita tidak dapat mengetahui kandungan sifat fisik maupun sifat kimia air. Sampel air yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisa di Laboratorium Balai Riset dan Standardisasi Industri (BARISTAND) Banda Aceh untuk mengetahui kandungan sifat fisik dan sifat kimia air pada DAS Krueng Aceh. Parameter yang dianalisa pada sifat fisik adalah suhu, total padatan terlarut, kekeruhan, warna, daya hantar listrik. Sedangkan parameter sifat kimia yang di analisa adalah pH, nitrat, COD, BOD, fosfat, besi, sulfat, dan kesadahan (CaCO3). Standar kualitas air yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada Standar Kualitas Air Kelas IV (untuk keperluan pertanian), sesuai dengan Peraturan Pemerintah No. 82 Tahun 2001.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari sifat fisik air di DAS Krueng Aceh masih memenuhi standar kualitas air kelas IV yang telah ditetapkan sesuai dengan PP No. 82 Tahun 2001 sehingga masih layak digunakan dalam pengelolaan air pertanian. Hal ini juga terjadi pada standar kualitar air sifat kimia di DAS Krueng Aceh juga masih memenuhi standar kualitas air kelas IV yang telah ditetapkan sesuai dengan PP No. 82 Tahun 2001 sehingga air di DAS Krueng Aceh masih layak digunakan dalam pengelolaan air pertanian.</text>

This study presents an analysis of the optimization by using HOMER software and financial viability of 10 kW wind turbine generator (WTG) through grid connected system for six different locations in Malaysia (Mersing, Kuching, K.Trengganu, Kudat, Melaka and Labuan). Assessment criteria comprised Total Net Present Cost (TNPC), and Cost of Energy ( COE ). The HOMER ( National Renewable Energy laboratory, US) was utilized as the assessment tool with modeling performed with hourly load data input from six cities in Malaysia. The results demonstrate that WTG has the potential to supply significant power for small scale load in conjunction with the grid-electricity supply. Optimization modeling demonstrated that the TNPC for grid connected configuration is Mersing for the lowest TNPC among the other cities which is TNPC recorded at $ -28,436 and initial cost is about $ 20,000. This mean wind grid system in Mersing is very benefit be built and reduction in greenhouse gas emission of 9,452 kg/yr. Optimization modeling also showed that Mersing is the only one among other city had showed a high potential of WTG which produced energy at 85,326 kWh/yr and purchase grid only at 4,082 kWh/year.Kajian Kinerja dan Potensi Generator Turbin Angin 10kW untuk 6 kota di MalaysiaABSTRAK. Optimasi Pemodelan menunjukkan bahwa Mersing memiliki TNPC terendah dibangdingkan kota lain ($ -28,436) dan initial cost sebesar $ 20,000. Hal ini bermakna bahwa Mersing memiliki potensi untuk dibangun generator turbin angin (WTG) dan pengurangan emisi gas rumah kaca 9.452 kg/tahun. Evaluasi Kesesuian Lahan Tanaman Duku, Mangga dan Rambutan di Desa Blang Guci Padang Tiji Kabupaten Pidie, di bawah bimbingan Syamsidah Djuita sebagai ketua dan syakur sebagai anggota.Evaluasi kesesuian lahan tanaman duku, mangga dan rambutan bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kesesuaian lahan pengembangan tanaman hortikultura yaitu: mangga, duku dan rambutan serta untuk mengetahui aspek pengelolaan pada setiap satuan lahan pengembangan tanaman hortiultura di Desa Blang Guci Kecamatan Padang Tiji Kabupaten Pidie. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survai yang didasarkan pada hasil observasi di lapangan, berdasarkan pada satuan peta lahan (SPL), kemudian sampel tanah dianalisis di laboratarium. Dalam penepatan kelas kesesuaian lahan tanaman dilokasi penelitian menerapkan sistem klasifikasi kesesuian lahan menerut Deptan (1997).Hasil tumpang tindih peta penggunaan lahan, peta jenis tanah dan peta lerang, maka didapat tiga SPL, yaitu: SPL 1 seluas (1,36 ha), SPL 2 seluas (0,21 ha) dan SPL 3 seluas (21,71 ha), dengan total luas lokasi penelitian adalah 23,28 ha. Tingkat kesesuaian lahan pengembangan tanaman hortiultura di Desa Blang Guci Kecamatan Padang Tiji Kabupaten Pidie menunjukan untuk tanaman duku pada SPL 1 seluas 1,36 ha SPL 2 seluas 0,21 ha dan SPL 3 seluas 10,43 ha. Tanaman  mangga SPL 1 seluas 1,36 ha SPL 2 seluas 0,21 ha dan SPL 3 seluas 10,43 ha. Sedangkan untuk tanaman rambutan SPL 1 seluas 1,36 ha SPL 2 seluas 0,21 ha dan SPL 3 seluas 10,43 ha, hal ini berati setiap SPL sangat cocok untuk dikembangkan tanaman hortikultura, namun hanya pada luas lahan 12,00 ha dari total luas lahan 23,28 ha dan sisanya sebagai kawasan konservasi atau kawasan lindung. Aspek pengelolaan pada setiap satuan lahan pengembangan tanaman hortikultura untuk jenis tanaman duku, mangga dan rambutan sangat sesuai (S1) untuk SPL 1 dan 2 dengan input teknologi low input (LI) dengan pengelolaan sampai dengan pembuatan guludan, lubang tanam dan pemumpukan, sedangkan pada SPL 3 dengan criteria cukup sesuai (S2) dengan tingkat input perbaikan medium input (MI), pengelolaan dengan pembuatan guludan, lubang tanam dan pemumpukan.</text>

                <text>ABSTRAK. Jenis rumput laut yang biasanya diolah menjadi makanan yang siap dimakan adalah Eucheuma sp dan Gellidium sp. Diversifikasi produk olahan rumput laut adalah salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan daya guna dan nilai ekonomis rumput laut, yaitu dengan cara mengolah rumput laut jenis Eucheuma cottonii menjadi mie basah. Mie basah merupakan hasil pengolahan berbahan dasar tepung yang dicampur dengan bahan tambahan lainnya. Tepung yang sering digunakan dalam pembuatan mie adalah tepung terigu dan tepung beras. Penambahan rumput laut pada pembuatan mie basah diharapkan dapat meningkatkan nilai gizi kepada masyarakat karena rumput laut mengandung yodium dan kadar serat yang tinggi. Penggunaan rumput laut juga mempengaruhi karakteristik mie basah yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial. Faktor yang diteliti yaitu pengaruh konsentrasi rumput laut dan jenis tepung. Faktor konsentrasi rumput laut (R) terdiri atas 3 taraf yaitu R1 = 30%, R2 = 35%, dan R3 = 40%. Faktor jenis tepung (T) terdiri atas 2 taraf yaitu T1 = tepung terigu dan T2 = tepung beras. Kualitas mie basah terbaik yang dihasilkan berdasarkan metode rangking diperoleh pada konsentrasi 30% rumput laut dan tepung terigu dengan karakteristik sebagai berikut: rendemen 176,03%, kadar protein 18,53% , nilai organoleptik warna = 3,92 (suka), nilai organoleptik aroma = 3.73 (suka), nilai organoleptik rasa = 3.78 (suka), nilai organoleptik kekenyalan = 3,95 (suka), dan nilai organoleptik uji mutu hedonik kekenyalan = 3,87 (kenyal). Kandungan yodium dari mie basah dari 3,8 mg bahan iod/100g diperoleh dari rumput laut dengan perlakuan konsentrasi 30% dan penggunaan tepung terigu (R1T1).Effect of Seaweed (Eucheuma Cottonii) and Flour Type Concentrations on Wet Noodle ProcessingABSTRACT. Type of seaweed that is usually processed into food and ready to eat is Gellidium sp. and Eucheuma sp. Diversification of processed seaweed is one of the efforts to improve the effectiveness and economic value of seaweed. It is by processing seaweed of Eucheuma cottonii into wet noodle. Wet noodle is made from flour mixed with other additives. Flour that often used in wet noodle processing is flour and rice. The addition of seaweed on a wet noodle making is expected to improve the nutritional value for society because seaweed contains iodine and high fiber. The use of seaweed also affected the characteristics of a wet noodle. The research was conducted using completely randomized design (CRD) factorial. Factors studied were the influence of the concentration and type of seaweed flour. Seaweed concentration factor (R) consisted of 3 levels, R1 = 30%, R2 = 35%, and R3 = 40%. Factors in the type of flour (T) consisted of two levels, T1 = T2 = flour and rice flour. The quality of best wet noodle generated based on ranking method, obtained at a concentration of 30% seaweed and wheat flour with the following characteristics: yield 176.03% , 18.53% protein content, color organoleptic value = 3.92 (like), aroma organoleptic value = 3.73 (like), a sense of the organoleptic value = 3.78 (like), organoleptic value of elasticity = 3.95 (like), and the value of organoleptic quality test hedonic elasticity = 3.87 (chewy). Iodine content of 3.8 mg of wet noodles iod/100g material derived from seaweed by treatment with 30% and the use of wheat flour (R1T1).</text>
