Chemical constituents arealready known: contain some saponin compounds, including asiaticoside, madeccasoside and asiatic acid. This study aims to determine the bioactive content; asiaticoside, madeccasoside and asiatic acid on the top(leaves and petiol) and bottom (roots and tendrils) with HPLC method. The experiment was conducted in growth chamber Department of Biological Sciences and School of Pharmacy Auburn University, USA. This study conducted in September-December 2011. The materials used are Centella asiatica of Deli Serdang accession, Kabanjahe accession, Berastagi accession and Samosir accession. Equipment needed to support the growth chamber study were digital scales, plastic pots, HPLC system types waters alliance 2695 autosampler, 996 photodiode array detector, coulomb adsorbosphere C18 5μ, size 250 x 4.60 mm, UV absorbance, wavelength of 210 nm, flow rate 1.8 ml / min, injection volume of 20 mL, Empower Pro software, and others. The results that the pattern of centelloside (asiaticoside, madecassoside and asiatic acid), when the content of one of the high content of bioactive, the others bioactive will be lower or biosynthetic pattern toward a compound needed. Centelloside plant age affects the content of Centella asiatica. Centelloside pattern is influenced by the condition of the planting medium, very high levels of phosphorus, biosynthesis of centelloside more toward to asiaticoside.</text>

<text>The area of coverage of waste management services in some areas sometimes only focus on specific areas such as the capital province, district or city. Some areas of the region (district) still do not get special attention for waste management facilities services from local City Sanitation Department. In this study we raised two villages located on the banks of the Kampar River and examined the management of non-organic domestic waste in this area. We choose Pulau Birandang Village and Alai Village because of the habit this people to throw garbage like non-organic waste (such as paper, plastics, etc) to the Kampar river. This act is very dangerous for the sustainability of water security and can cause silting rivers. The aims of this research to analyze the influence of commercial approach as a solution to solve waste problem in both villages. Commercial approach is the method applied by giving incentives to people who are sort the non-organic waste according to its kind. Data for this study were collected from observation using 80 questionnaires to 80 respondents from both villages, the Pulau Birandang village and Alai village. Results of the analysis is also reinforced by opinión from the leaders of them (people) who are likely to reflect the wishes of the people too. The results from this study is the commercial approach (take and give system) which applied in this villages could increase people's enthusiasm in managing domestic waste by sorting waste before it is collected.</text>

<text>The electrical and thermal analysis of blended clamshells powder, kaolin, and CuO ceramics have beenconducted. Clamshell is used in the experimentation due to its high CaCO3 that is about 96-98%. Theresearch is aimed to analyze the effect of CuO addition on clamshell powder-and-kaolin mixed ceramics andto observe the electrical and thermal properties of its. CuO concentration was varied up to 10% (weight). We found that the samples could not set and directly disintegrate under the exposure to cold air when baked at temperature higher then 600°C. 8% addition of CuO to white shell gave a more stable sample and recorded 2,17 x 10-7 S/cm electrical conductivity and 0,9977 W/m°C thermal conductivity. There was a trend that those two conductivities are increasing over a large CuO concentration and kept increasing. Based ongeneral classification, this sample is considered to be semiconductor and its thermal conductivity is larger than glass. Semiconductors are very important in electronic manufacturing sector and this material shows the capability of tailoring its conductance. XRD analysis tells that CuCO3bonding has been initiated in the mixture.</text>

<text>The problem in the sea cucumber culture development in Indonesia is the difficulty to find the culture area that could provide optimal production. This study analyzed the cultivated habitat that could provide optimal growth, proximate and total energy to sandfish Holothuria scabra cultivated in different habitats. The study was done from March to June 2011 in the Puteangin Island, Lasitae Village, District Tanete Rilau, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi. The cage size used was 2 m in length, 1 m in width, and 1.5 m in height. The net mesh-size was 0.5 inch. The cage placed at three different habitats, i.e. sandy overgrown with seagrass habitat, sandy covered with corals habitat, andsandy habitat. The study consisted of three treatments and three replications. Growth was observed by measuring the daily specific growth rate and absolute weight growth. Proximate and energy content of sandfish was analyzed atthe beginning and the end of the study. The study reveals that the sand and seagrass habitat provide the best results with daily specific growth rate is 1.15% ± 0.03%. The absolute weight growth is 28.45 g ± 0.95 g. The proximate content is 0.24 g ± 0.492 g for protein, 0.07 g ± 0.395 g for fat, and 18.026 g ± 0.39 g for carbohydrate. The highest energy content is 176 997 calories.</text>

<text>Recently, the research to find alternative sources of carbohydrates as a replacement for rice has been developed. Walur is one of the carbohydrate sources that can be explored because it can be grown in any area with out special treatment. However, walur has limitation for direct consumption, because it contains calcium oxalate. The purposes of this study were to determine the chemical character (macronutrient content), calculate glycemic index and get the proper washing techniques to elimin ate calcium oxalate of walur. Macro nutrients content studied in this research include carbohydrates, fats, protein, star chand crude fiber. Analysis of macronutrients has been chemically done, while the glycemic index was measured by in vivo using glucose as a standard. Elimination of calcium oxalate was conducted by washing the fresh walur tubers using a solution of0.01NHCl-NaOH, 5% NaCl, and solution of lemon-lime. The content of oxalate before and after washing was analyzed by permanganometry method. The results showed that walur containing 4.34 ±0.07% of reducingsugar,3.24 ± 0.06 % of not-reducing sugar, 11.27±0.40 % of crude fiber,0.03±1.05 % of starchand0.57±0.01 % of protein. Qualitative analysis of fatty acids showed that hexade canoicacid, octade cadienoicacid, and the acide icosatetranoic were detected in high concentrations. The glycemic index valueof walur was relative lylow, about of 16.9. In addition, washing technique using a solution of lemon-lime was the most excellent technique and can reduce the oxalate content up to61.82%.Fromthis research, it can be concluded that walur can be used as food substitute esrice after washing treatment using lemon-lime solution to remove the calcium oxalate content.</text>

<text>This research has been conducted to determine content of natural clay from bentonite in East Java area. There are two types of samples taken from the location, white and yellow clays. Samples were prepared to become the small pieces granulated, then were cleaned with aquadest, and were dried, respectively. After that, samples were re-minimized into 200 mesh in nanoparticles, re-cleaned and dried using oven at temperature 100-110 °Celsius. Ca, Fe, Mg and Na are contents in samples of bentonite Clay being determined by using Atom Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Each part of the substance from yellow bentonite clays and white bentonite clays were measured and analysed its content with three times repetition. Natural-bentonite clays of Pacitan from East Java contained the minerals Ca, Mg, Fe and Na with mean values of the gratuity Ca 0.0127 % Mg 0.24655 %, Fe 0.56178 %, and Na 0.14122 % for yellow bentonite clays (A). White bentonite clays (B) consisted of minerals Fe, Mg, Na, and Ca with mean values of gratuity Ca 0.01856 %, Mg 0.30067 %, Fe 0.61235 %, and Na 0.1608%, respectively.</text>
