Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa urbanisasi di Kota Banda Aceh sangat dipengaruhi oleh pertumbuhan ekonomi, tingkat pendidikan minimal SMA, dan kesempatan kerja yang tersedia. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan variabel independen berupa Nilai Tukar (kurs), dan Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB). Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data sekunder dari tahun 1994-2012 yang bersumber dari berbagai laporan dan kompilasi khususnya publikasi dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) dan Bank Indonesia. Model yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah regresi linear berganda dengan metode analisis pendekatan kuadrat terkecil (Ordinary Least Square). Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa Kurs dan Produk Domestik Bruto berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Utang Luar Negeri Indonesia. Nilai koefisien determinasi (Adj.R2= 0,944) Menunjukkan bahwa Utang Luar Negeri Indonesia sebesar 94,4 persen dipengaruhi oleh Kurs dan Produk Domestik Bruto, sedangkan sisanya 5,6 persen dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain di luar penelitian ini, antara lain defisit neraca pembayaran, pengeluaran pemerintah, utang pemerintah tahun sebelumnya, ekspor dan peningkatan pajak. Utang luar negeri sangat membantu pemerintah Indonesia dalam memacu laju pertumbuhan ekonomi sesuai dengan target yang telah ditetapkan sebelumnya. Tetapi utang luar negeri pemerintah tersebut dapat menimbulkan berbagai persoalan ekonomi di Indonesia.
