Spreading of liquids on solids involving phase change is encountered in many areas ranging from biological systems to industrial applications such as coatings, printing, painting and spraying. The fundamental study on wetting of membrane precursors namely hydrotalcite sols on a porous silica surface with different types of precursor material was successfully carried out. Relationship between the contact angle of a hydrotalcite droplet on silica surface and the Marangoni effect was also investigated. The presence of PVA in hydrotalcite sols was found to influence the rheological properties of the sols significantly, resulting in higher viscosity and ultimately leading to lower contact angle on solid surfaces. The degree of hydrotalcite's philicity on a substrate was improved by the addition of PVA solution. In this study, the spreading of a liquid droplet on a solid surface controlled by a surface tension gradient, due to Marangoni effect was found to drive better spreading of the liquid droplet. Marangoni Number, Ma was found to be proportionally related with the surface tension of the sols but inversely proportional to contact angles of the sols. The subjects of the research were 32 students of class XII-IA2 MAN Model Banda Aceh in academic year 2012/2013, with heterogenous acchivement. Data collection was conducted through written tests and observations. Based on objective tests given after the study ended, student learning yield was obtained very good with the level of completeness of 96.67%. Activity of student suggests that a good percentage of the activity (79.82%). The response of students to the problem solving approach learning shows that students gave a positive response is very good (91.52%). Thus, it is conclused that applying of problem solving approach to the material colligative properties of solution can increase student learning yield, activities, and student motivation. The aim of this study was to determine the stability of natural pigments from sweet potato of the variation of heating temperature, long warm-up, long storage and long exposure to sunlight. The populations of this study those fresh sweet potatoes ibaraki varieties as much as 2 kg. The samples used in this study were 100 grams of sweet potatos that have been peeled and grated, then be extracted with 20 mL of distilled water at a temperature of 50 0C and blended so that it became a slurry and then squeezed, then do the identification of anthocyanin compounds in the sample. The extract of sweet potato at pH 6 measured the wavelength of maximum, then anthocyanin concentration was calculated using the pH-differential method. Further, it was tested the stability of the dye to the variation of heating temperature, long warm-up, long storage and long exposure to sunlight at a wavelength of maximum. The results showed that at pH 6 sweet potatos have a wavelength of 536 nm and concentraining anthocyanin with 10,02 mgL-1 of concentrations. Stability of the dye from sweet potatos extracts to heating temperature variation decreased absorbance values by an average of 0,004, a decreased of the heating value of the average absorbance of 0,008 and of storage duration decreased the absorbance values by an average of 0,007. Whereas long exposure to sunlight absorbance values increased by an average of 0,009. The conclution of the researche is the intensity of sweet potatoes extract color was reduced to the variation of heating temperature, heating time and saving time. The intensity of yam’s extract color increased to along exposure of sunlight. Perlu adanya upaya lain untuk mengatasi masalah ini dengan mengembangkan indikator universal yang berasal dari bahan alam. Penelitian tentang Pengembangan Indikator Universal Bahan Alami untuk Penentuan pH Larutan pada Pembelajaran Penentuan Derajat Keasaman di SMP/MTs telah dilakukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui cara menyiapkan dan mengukur pH larutan dengan indikator universal bahan alami yang dilengkapi dengan prosedur penyiapan dan penuntun praktikum, serta melihat apakah prosedur kerja pada penuntun dapat dipraktikkan oleh guru. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu guru yang berjumlah 8 orang yang berasal dari SMPN 2 Banda Aceh, SMPN 6 Banda Aceh, SMPN 8 Banda Aceh, SMPN 14 Banda Aceh, SMPN 18 Banda Aceh, MTsN Rukoh Banda Aceh, dan 10 orang mahasiswa FKIP Kimia Unsyiah angkatan 2012 (semester 1). Metode yang digunakan meliputi pembuatan indikator universal bahan alami, penyusunan penuntun praktikum, dan melihat tanggapan guru dan mahasiswa. Indikator universal bahan alami dibuat dengan cara mengekstrak kunyit, bawang merah, kol ungu, dan ubi ungu dengan etanol 70%. Ke dalam ekstrak direndam kertas saring selama 5 menit dan dikeringkan. Kertas saring disusun ke dalam pipet sehingga menjadi indikator universal bahan alami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indikator universal dari bahan alami dapat digunakan untuk mengukur pH larutan. Menurut tanggapan guru dengan prosedur kerja dan penuntun yang ada, guru dapat membuat indikator sendiri dan dapat menerapkannya di kelas. Persentase tanggapan positif guru dan mahasiswa masing-masing sebesar 95,53% dan 98,57%. Hal ini menunjukkan indikator, penuntun, dan prosedur kerja ini bisa digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas siswa, hasil belajar dan tanggapan siswa terhadap pendekatan STM. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas XI-IA1 yang berjumlah 20 orang. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, tes tertulis, dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran dimana aktivitas siswa meningkat dari 68,1% pada pertemuan pertama menjadi 77,9% pada pertemuan kedua. Siswa senang belajar materi koloid dengan menggunakan pendekatan STM sehingga hasil belajar siswa tuntas pada dua pertemuan dengan persentase secara klasikal 75% pada tes pertemuan pertama dan 85% tes pertemuan kedua. Persentase siswa yang memberikan tanggapan positif pada penerapan pendekatan STM sebesar 85% sedangkan 15% siswa memberikan tanggapan negatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa aktivitas siswa meningkat, hasil belajar siswa tuntas secara klasikal dan siswa memberi tanggapan positif terhadap penerapan pendekatan STM pada materi koloid. The Sampling used purposive sampling, is the sample members selected by objective research. This research is a qualitative survey using a quantitative approach. The method used in this study is descriptive. The data was collected using a test instrument. In addition, interviews were also used as supporting data in the study. Processing quantitative data used Spearman rank correlation coefficient, while qualitative in percentage form. The results of the analysis obtained rs value about 0,94.
