A study was conducted on broiler chickens under heat stress to evaluate the effect of combined jaloh (Salix tetrasperma Roxb) extract with chromium mineral in the body weight, value of feed ratio conversion, and time to meat to become decomposed. Twenty four of 20-day old Cobb female broiler chickens were randomly assigned and divided to 4 treatment groups. Completely randomized design was used in this study. The treatments were as follows: 1) chickens given no heat stress and jaloh extract nor chromium (tCp); 2) chickens under heat stress without given jaloh extract nor chromium (Cp); 3) chickens under heat stress and given jaloh extract in 1.000 mg/lt drinking water (Cp+Ej); and 4) chickens under heat stress, given jaloh extract in 1.000 mg/lt drinking water, and chromium in 1.000 ug/lt drinking water (Cp+Ej+Cr). Heat stress given was 33 ± 1oC of cage temperature during 4 hours per day within 15 days. Jaloh extract and chromium treatments in drinking water were given at 2 hour before cage temperature reaching 33 ± 1oC and were stopped being given after 1 hour, when cage temperature back to room temperature. On the 16th day of the study chickens were measured before slaughtered. Samples obtained were chicken meat that taken from breast part (musculus pectoralis). The result suggested that either giving jaloh extract per se at the dose of 1.000 mg/lt in drinking water or combine it with chromium that given two hours before cage temperature reaching 33 ± 1oC, can prevent chickens from decreasing their body weight, decreasing value of feed ratio convertion, and extending time to meat to become decomposed. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan pada bulan Juni 2013 di Laboratorium Pakan Buatan BBAP Ujung Batee. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 (lima) perlakuan (0 ppt; 5 ppt; 10 ppt; 15 ppt; 31 ppt) dan 3 (tiga) ulangan. Data di olah dengan menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa benih ikan kakap putih yang dipelihara pada salinitas rendah tidak berbeda nyata serta tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan. Namun dari hasil analisis varian dapat dilihat bahwa nilai tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan D salinitas 15 ppt pada pertumbuhan berat relatif dan panjang mutlak.Kata kunci : ikan kakap putih, salinitas, pertumbuhan, Lates calcarifer.ABSTRACTThe objective of this research was to find out the growth of Barramundi (Later calcarifer) which was cultured in low salinity water. The research was conducted on June 2013 at laboratory of artificial feed, the Brackish Water Aquaculture Development Center, Ujong Batee. The research was designed using Completely Randomized Design with five treatments of salinity (0; 5; 10; 15; and 31 ppt) and three replications. The data was analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The result showed that the cultured fingerling of Barramundi in low salinity water found no significant effect on the its growth. But result of variance analysis was obtained that the highest valve was at the treatment of D (salinity of 15 ppt) specially for the relative growth and length.Keywords: barramundi, salinity, growth, Lates calcarifer. The objective of this experiment was to study effect of various planting media compotition and Seprint leaves fertilizer concentration on oil palm seedling growth. The experiment used block randomized design with factorial pattern 3 x 3 and 3 replicants. There were two factors that studied. First factor was planting media compotition (K1 = 1 : 3; K2 = 1 : 2; K3 = 1 : 1). Second factor was seprint leaves fertilizer concentrations (S1 = 2 ml/I water; S2 = 3 ml/I water; S3 = 4 ml/I water). The result showed that the best oil palm seedling growth on planting media compotition 1:3 (cow manure : soil). The best result of oil palm seedling growth was sprint leaves fertilizer concentration 2 ml/I water. There was not interaction between planting media compotition and sprint leaves fertilizer concentration on all oil palm seedling growth variables that were studied. The aim of study is know the effect of some cropping system and N, P, K fertilizer as well as the interaction of both factors to improve growth and yield maize, green bean, and groundnut. The first factor was cropping system: Those were maize monoculture, green bean monoculture, groundnut monoculture, maize-green bean intercropping, and maize-ground nut intercropping. Then the second factor was level of N, P, K fertilizer: Those were control, low dose (90 kg ha-1 N, 35 kg ha-1 P2O5, 20 kg ha-1 K2O) and high dose (180 kg ha-1 N, 70 kg ha-1 P2O5, 40 kg ha-1 K2O). The observation was done for growth and production of maize, green bean and ground nut. The research result showed that, cropping system did not have significant different on the height of maize plant at 15, 30, and 45 days after planting (DAP). Application of fertilizer had significant different on maize plant at 30 and 45 DAP and did not have significant different of maize plant at 15 DAP. Furthermore, cropping system and fertilizer application did not have significant different on the height of green bean and groundnut at 15 DAP, but cropping system and fertilizer application have very significant different on height of green bean and groundnut at 30 and 45 DAP, as well as interaction between cropping system and application fertilizer on height of green bean and groundnut at 30 and 45 DAP. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) 3 x 3 with three replications. Factors studied were red pepper varieties (TM 999, ST 168 and local), and growing media (soil + sand, soil + manure, and soil + husk) with a ratio of 2:1. The results showed that varieties exerted highly significant effects on plant height at 15 days after transplanting (DAT) and fruit weight per plant at first harvest 90 DAT and a significant effect on number of fruits per plant at first harvest 90 DAT. Varieties of TM 999 and ST 168 were better than that of local.
