The objectives of the research were to determine effect of kind of fertilizer on growth  and yield of  several  sweet corn varieties and also to know interaction between both factors mentioned.  The experiment was performed using a randomized complete block design (RCBD),  3 x 3 with 3 replications. There were two factors studied, namely kinds of fertilizer, consisting of 3 levels: organic fertilizer, NPK and liquid organic fertilizer NASA. The second factor was varieties consisting of 3 levels: Bonanza, Manise, and Jago F1.  The results showed that kinds of fertilizer exerted highly significant effects on diameter of bottom stem at age 45 day after planting (DAP), number of leaves at 45 DAP, leaf length at age 30 and 45 DAP and exerted a significant effect on ear length without cornhusk. The highest growth and yield of sweet corn was found in NPK fertilizer treatment.  Varieties of sweet corn exerted highly significant effects on plant height age 15 DAP, diameter  of bottom stem  at age 30 and 45 DAP, number of leaf at age 15 DAP, leaf width at age 15, 30, and 45 DAP and exerted significant effects on ear length without  cornhusk, ear diameter  without  cornhusk, ear weight per bed with border plant, ear weight per bed without border plant,  ear weight with cornhusk and plant height at age 30 and 40 DAP, diameter of bottom stem at age 15 DAP, number of leaf at age 45 DAP, leaf length at age 15 and 45 DAP. Salah satu diantaranya ialah menggunakan profil baja hollow. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui kekuatan 4 buah portal bidang dengan dan tanpa dinding pengisi beton ringan busa yang diperkuat dengan bracing dan wiremesh terhadap kekakuan portal akibat beban tekan horizontal. Benda uji yang digunakan adalah profil baja hollow isi beton ringan busa ukuran 40/80 mm dan 50/100 mm portal bidang satu pias dengan ukuran 1500 x 1500 mm. Kekuatan portal profil baja hollow ukuran 40/80 mm dengan dinding pengisi (P1D1) lebih besar dari pada portal tanpa dinding pengisi (P1D0) dengan perbandingan beban maksimum 14,17 kali dimana konstribusi bracing portal 11,15 kali dan dinding wiremesh beton ringan busa sebesar 3,02 kali, rasio displacement portal turun sebesar 0,29 kali. Begitu juga dengan portal profil baja hollow ukuran 50/100 mm dengan dinding pengisi (P2D1) kekuatannya lebih besar dari pada portal tanpa dinding pengisi (P2D0) dengan perbandingan beban maksimum 13,5 kali dimana konstribusi bracing portal 11,2 kali dan dinding wiremesh beton ringan busa sebesar 2,3 kali, rasio displacement portal turun sebesar 0,28 kali. Kekuatan pada portal dengan dinding pengisi P2D1 meningkat sebesar 1,11 kali dari portal P1D1 dengan penurunan nilai displacement sebesar 0,81 kali, hal ini sebebabkan perbedaan ukuran profil baja hollow yang digunakan. Retakan pada dinding kedua portal terjadi pada arah diagonal portal sepanjang ikatan pengaku (bracing). Pola retak dan kehancuran pada dinding portal P1D1 dan P2D1 juga terjadi antara pertemuan balok-dinding dan kolom-dinding yang semakin melebar seiring dengan pertambahan beban yang diberikan sampai pembebanan maksimum. Profil baja hollow dapat dijadikan elemen alternatif untuk pembuatan rangka portal kolom dan balok pada rumah sederhana didaerah rawan gempa dengan kombinasi beton ringan busa sebagai dinding pengisi. Pengenalan pola adalah masalah yang banyak menyita perhatian sekarang ini baik pengenalan pola wajah, sidik jari, maupun pola pengenalan karakter huruf. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengenali karakter huruf Arab dan Latin menggunakan metode moment invariant. Metode moment invariant menghasilkan tujuh nilai moment yang kombinasi diantara moment-moment tersebut adalah fitur untuk pengenalan karakter. Berdasarkan nilai moment dikembangkan suatu skema pengenalan karakter yang dinamai "Skema Akar Pohon". Perbedaan nilai moment untuk masing-masing karakter pada skema adalah ciri dari karakter tersebut. Untuk keempat kelompok yang disimulasikan adalah karakter Arab biner, Arab thinning, Latin biner dan Latin thinning. Dari hasil simulasi, ditemui bahwa huruf Arab biner yang diwakili oleh 5 moment adalah 30 %, dan huruf Arab thinning pada moment 3 sebesar 40 %, untuk huruf Latin biner karakter yang diwakili oleh moment 3 dan moment 5 adalah 30,76 % sedangkan huruf Latin thinning karakter yang banyak diwakili terdapat pada moment 3 sebesar 65,38 %. Viridula.  Experiment was performed at Laboratory of Pest, Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University Darussalam, Banda Aceh. The experiment used a  faktorial completely randomized design (CRD).  Factors evaluated were (1) concentration of B. bassiana consisting of three levels: 2 gL-1 distilled water, 4 gL-1 distilled water, and 6 gL-1 distilled water, and (2) stadia of N. viridula consisting of 2 levels: third instar nymphs and imago. Variable observed were incubation period, mortality of N. viridula, time of death, and percentage of feeding inhibition. The results showed that concentration of B. bassiana and stadia of N. viridula had no effect on incubation period of fungus B. bassiana. Concentration of B. bassiana affected mortality and time of death of nymph and imago N. viridula. Concentration of fungus B. bassiana affected percentage of feeding inhibition. The validation of the three optimum points using sensory evaluation showed that formulation F1 was most acceptable followed by F2 and F3. Generally, there are two types of land use for crop i.e. irrigated land and non-irrigated land. The experiment objectives was to determine growing periods of food crop inBantenProvince. Modified method of Thornthwaite and Mather of bookkeeping system of water balance was used based on decades data. Water balance analysis of irrigated land showed that  the area of Serang District had growing periods potencially of 140-170 days with growing periods starting from Dec2 till Jan1, but needed water supply from irrigation as amount 8.5-22.5 mm to grow rice twice a year or planted with other food crops after rice if no irrigation. Meanwhile, Tangerang District (Pakuhaji) and Pandeglang District (Pagelaran) had potency of 182-193 days of growing periods with starting on Sep3 at Pakuhaji and on Dec3 at Pagelaran. In these area rice could be planted twice a year without irrigation. Futher for non-irrigation land with monthly high rainfall, the result showed that the area had potency of growing periods of 182 days through the year. Sistem pemanas air surya sudah umum digunakan namun masih memiliki beberapa hambatan sehingga selalu diperlukan penelitian untuk meningkatkan kinerja sistem pemanas air surya. Pada penelitian ini telah dirancang pemanas air surya yang dapat diandalkan untuk menyediakan air panas pada saat tidak tersedianya energi matahari atau sinar surya dalam jangka pendek. Pemanas air surya yang dirancang dan dibuat berukuran panjang 465 mm x 365 mm x 15 mm. Untuk meningkatkan kinerja sistem digunakan material penyimpan energi panas (PCM) diletakkan didalam kolektor surya yang berbentuk bola-bola. Material yang digunakan untuk penyimpan energi panas yaitu lilin lebah (beeswax). Pengujian sistem pemanas air surya dilakukan dilingkungan Fakultas Teknik Universitas Syiah Kuala dengan kondisi cuaca Kota Banda Aceh. Dari hasil pengujian diperoleh sistem pemanas air surya mampu mencapai 58C, penggunaan material penyimpan energi panas mampu mempertahankan temperatur air yang telah diganti berkisar antara 40C hingga 45C selama 2-3 jam, sedangkan radiasi surya dan temperatur ruang kaca mulai menurun. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa menggunakan material berubah fasa (PCM) sebagai material penyimpan energi panas akan mampu meningkatkan dan mempertahankan kinerja sistem pemanas air surya.
