Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi daya hambat ekstrak whole cell S. mutans terhadap pertumbuhan S. mutans. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratoris secara in vitro dengan desain post test only control group. Penelitian dilakukan pada 1 kelompok kontrol dan 3 kelompok perlakuan dengan 3 pengulangan. Kelompok kontrol diberikan PBS (Phospat Buffer Saline) sedangkan kelompok perlakuan diberikan ekstrak whole cell S. mutans dengan konsentrasi masing-masing 25%, 50% dan 100%. Hasil analisis ANOVA (p < 0,05) menunjukan ekstrak whole cell S . mutans berbagai konsentrasi memiliki kemampuan yang bermakna (p = 0,001) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan S. mutans, namun ekstrak whole cell S. mutans konsentrasi 100% memiliki daya hambat maksimum, dari hasil uji lanjutan LSD (p > 0,05) memperlihatkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna pada tiap konsentrasi. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak whole cell S. mutans berpotensi sebagai inhibitor S. mutans, yaitu pada konsentrasi 25% dengan daya hambat minumum.Kata kunci : Streptococcus mutans, ekstrak whole cell, asidogenik, asidurikABSTRACTName: Nadyatul AsifaFaculty : DentistryStudy Programme: DentistryTitle : The Potential of Streptococcus mutans whole cell Extract Inhibiting Streptococcus mutans Growth.Streptococcus mutans is widely known as a major caries agent and could acidogenically and acidurially, also formed dental plaque. Aim of research is to knowing the potential of S. mutans whole cell extract in inhibited S. mutans growth. This research experimental laboratory study with post test only control group design. Its was done 3 times on 1 control group and 3 exam groups. The experimental groups given either by PBS (Phospat Buffer Saline) and using S. mutans whole cell extract at 25, 50, and 100 percent respectively concentration. Analytical result using ANOVA (p < 0,05) showed that S. mutans whole cell extract has significant (p = 0,001) effect in inhibiting S. mutans growth, but 100% concentration of S. mutans whole cell extract has maximum inhibitory effect, from LSD test (p < 0,05), its not showed that each concentration has significant differences. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Weed Science and the experiment station of Agriculture Faculty UNSYIAH Banda Aceh in May to August 2014.This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial with 7 treatments and 3 replications (controls, reeds juice concentration of 10%, 20%, the concentration of sedges juice as much as 10%, 20%, the concentration of bermuda grass juice 10%, 20% ). The parameters observed percentage of weed control spiny amaranth (Amaranthus spinosus), the percentage of weed control windmill (Chloris barbata), the weight of the wet weed spiny amaranth (A spinous), the weight of the wet weed windmill (C barbata), weight dry of spiny amaranth (A spinous), weight dry of windmill (C barbata), crops toxic, the percentage of deaths crops, height of soybean plant, number of seeds per soybean plant and weight of soybean seed per plant.The results showed that administration of some types of juice weeds affect the toxicity of plants at 21 days after application (HSA), control spiny amaranth weed (A spinous), and windmil (C barbata). Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial 3 x 3 dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor-faktor yang diteliti adalah dosis FMA ( tanpa FMA, pemberian 10 g FMA/polybag, dan 15 g FMA/polybag) dan komposisi media tanam (100% tanah, 75% tanah : 25% pupuk kandang, dan 50% tanah : 50% pupuk kandang). Peubah yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah cabang, jumlah buah per tanaman, berat buah per tanaman, dan persentase infeksi FMA pada akar cabai rawit.
