Teknik ini memiliki tiga agent, yaitu enamel conditioner, primer solution, dan adhesive orthodontic. Berdasarkan polimerisasinya, bahan adhesif dapat dibagi menjadi dua yaitu secara chemically cured dan light cured. Perlekatan bahan adhesif dapat dipengaruhi oleh kontaminasi saliva. Gambaran topografi yang dapat dianalisis setelah uji bond strength yaitu perubahan email dan sisa bahan adhesif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan topografi permukaan email setelah uji bond strength antara orthodontic metal dan email yang terkontaminasi saliva dengan menggunakan bahan adhesif yang berbeda. Gigi premolar yang sudah diuji bond strength sebanyak 4 dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok dengan masing-masing kelompok 2 gigi (n=2). Kelompok 1 menggunakan bahan adhesif chemically cured, dan kelompok 2 menggunakan light cured. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan analisa deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan bahan adhesif yang menggunakan chemically cured tampak adanya kerusakan email dan lebih banyak bahan adhesif yang melekat pada permukaan bracket, sedangkan yang menggunakan bahan adhesif light cured tidak dapat diketahui adanya kerusakan email karena lebih banyak bahan adhesif yang melekat pada permukaan email, dan email tidak mengalami retakan karena tidak melebihi nilai maksimum shear bond strength. Oleh karena itu, terdapat perbedaan topografi permukaan email dengan menggunakan bahan adhesif yang berbeda yang dapat dilihat dengan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
