This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Pests and Plant Diseases, Department of Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University of Banda Aceh, from February to May 2014. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial, with 7 treatments namely control, 10 3, 10 4, 10 5, 10 6, 10 7 and 10 8 conidia / mL. Each treatment was done for 3 times in order to make the number of experimental units became 21 units of experiment. The variables were observed including incubation period, larval mortality, the percentage of pupae formed and the percentage of the imago emerged. The results showed that the percentage of larval mortality had no significant difference in 1 HSA to 4 HSA. However, it was highly significant at 5 HSA with the highest percentage about 33.33% on the density of 108 conidia / mL. While the incubation period, the percentage of pupae and imago indicated that they were very significant differences between the treatments given. The incubation period occured faster; 2 HSA on the density of 10 7 and 10 8 conidia / mL. The percentage of pupae was formed in the lowest percentage namely 66.67% on the density of 10 8 conidia / mL, and the percentage of the imago was appeared at the lowest percentage about 60% on the density of 10 8 conidia / mL. B. The application of bassiana in this study was less effective in controlling pests C. pavonana because the mortality rate only reached about 33.33%.Keyword : effectiveness, B. bassiana, mortality, development, C. pavonana.</text>

Basal area (BA) and tree density were surveyed using variable-area transect method. Tree sapling species was surveyed using standard plots combined with circular elementary subplots laid along 60 m transect line. The result shown that BA and tree density of rubber agroforest system were lower significantly with forest at the diameter class > 30 cm, but at the diameter class < 30 cm there were not differ significantly. PCA analysis shown there was a positive correlation between BA non rubber tree with the species diversity and richness indices of tree sapling in rubber agroforest system and there was no correlation between density of non rubber tree and the indices. However, in the forest, BA and tree density were have a negative correlation with the species diversity and richness indices of tree sapling.</text>

<text>Identification is a basic activity and one of primary objective on systematic. For plant biodiversity studies,it was the first steps that researcher performed before studying any topics in the research area. Unfortunately, species identification is usually a time consuming activity. One of the main objectives of this study was to obtain a set of leaf morphology characters that were useful and efficient enough for species identification, especially on the tree habits group in order to reduce time consuming for the identification species. All of the leaf morphology characters were selected by correlation coefficient and separation coefficient values. Besides of that, the stability, simplicity and validity of the characters were also part of concern. The characters that had high value of separation coefficient and low value of correlation coefficient would be added one by one as in their rank, until the value of the combination separation coefficient was equal to 1 (100%). The result of this study suggested that 30 from 92 characters of leaf morphology were recommended as a set of characters that useful and efficient enough for species identification.</text>

<text>Abstract. Indonesian waters connect the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. These waters are also highly influenced by the monsoonal climate. Current is a very important parameter in the marine environment and affect both directly and indirectly the marine environment. A study has been done in the waters of Spermonde Archipelago in Makassar Strait to develop a model of relationship between tidal current velocities and capture of small pelagic fishes at transition between west and east moonsoonal season. Insitu field data were collected for 3 (three) months, from April to June 2009. Besides that, this study also used a two-year image data (acquired from October 2007 to June 2009). Study sites were deployed in areas of fishing base of small pelagic fishes within the waters of Spermonde Archipelago, Pangkep District, South Sulawesi, particularly in areas where purse seine gears were operated by the fishermen. Distribution of current parameters, depth, wind direction and velocity, and tidal data were depicted horizontally using Surfer v 7.0 software package. Meanwhile, Surface Modelling System v 8.1. (SMS v 8.1) program was used to make prediction of the movement pattern of the surface current. Results of the analysis of current movement patterns when the waters were approaching hightide showed that water mass movement from southern region (Flores Sea) was diverted and passed through the Spermonde Archipelago to the coastline of Pangkep Regency. In contrary, when the waters were approaching ebb tide, the current from the western coast of Pangkep Regency passed the Spermonde Archipelago and diverted to the Flores Sea again. Analysis of current velocity indicated that higher current (> 0.1 m s-1) was found in offshore and tend to decrease below 0.1 m s-1 as the current passing the waters of Spermonde Archipelago. Optimal capture was obtained up to the current velocity of 0.032 m s-1 i.e. 187.9 kg, and tend to decrease with increasing current velocity. At the highest current velocity, that is 0.216 m s-1, the capture was 112 kg.</text>
